We got this delivered and had no issues placing the order or receiving it. It was delivered in about 30 minutes and was still fresh when we got it. The beef with broccoli was very good! The broccoli was steamed perfectly, and the beef was juicy and not too chewy. The general tso's chicken was delicious! Crispy and good sauce. However, the crab rangoons did not quite hit the spot. They are triangle style instead of the traditional star style, they are VERY cream cheese heavy with very little crab, the cream cheese filling was also way too sweet. They were better with the sweet and sour sauce, but the consistency was still too chewy and not crispy enough. Overall, good entrees, I would skip the rangoons. read more

Been on the hunt for a restaurant to replace my craving for good tofu. Haven't been able to find Mapo Tofu - for some reason I can only find General TSao or Sesame Tofu. Jade Garden General TSao isn't bad. You get a lot of tofu. Very little rice. $14 for it. A little pricey for Tofu but could be worse. The flavor was decent but I expected more heat. Instead it was similar to sweet & sour. I still enjoyed. We also had Hot & Sour soup. Plus an order of the fried Scallops. I loved the crisp of the scallops- not overcooked - perfect bite (of course it's the imitation scallop but still good). The hot & sour soup was pretty spot on. Really appreciated that there was no bitter taste as some have. Prices aren't unreasonable, just more than most places in our area. Service was ok. Typical Chinese food as far as it has been lately. Order at the front. Get paper plates and your own plastic ware. While we sat there and ate there was a decent amount of TO GO orders picked up so that say a lot. We ordered non-spicy for the kid. The flavor was fine, just a tad chewy. The roast pork egg roll had very little meat, it was mostly vegetables. The picture here shows the bit of meat in the ENTIRE roll. The ground pork also looked a little pink, which made me question if it was fully cooked. Spring rolls were soggy and the wonton soup tasted like water with a couple of green onions mixed in. Please don't ever let who was in the kitchen this evening go near a wok again. The food we purchased made No. 1 Chinese taste like they have a Michelin Star in comparison. We order from this location several times per month and this was hands-down the worst Chinese food I've had in years. Leftover McDonald's is more enjoyable. So moving from CA, we have a different style of Chinese food we like and are used to. On the east coast chow mein is called lo mein. The food has heavier gravy on them and the fried rice is dark. We just moved to VA Beach and decided to try Jade Garden last night. We carried out an order of Lemon Chicken and Four Seasons along with a Roast Pork Fried Rice and Spring Rolls. The Lemon Chicken was amazing. It consisted of two breaded chicken breasts, pounded and sliced then fried crispy on a bed of steamed broccoli and a huge container of lemon sauce. So good! The Four Seasons included more than a half-dozen breaded and sautéed shrimp, sliced pork and beef with a nice medley of veggies with a tangy brown sauce. And the fried rice was also very good, with tender roast pork and veggies. The spring rolls tasted fine, but were a little small - probably won't get them again. Prices were actually better than most of the Chinese restaurants we've carried out from. We will definitely be back again! And next time, I'll remember to share some pics. read more

Jade Garden IV.....Does anybody know where I thru III are??? Since this place is within walking distance from my house, it has turned into my default lunch takeout place when I'm in town. Funny thing, of all of the times that I've been here to get Gen Tso's, I have never once eaten in, although I do see many workers from Little Creek NAB (or whatever it is called these days) doing so. The service for them seems speedy, so even when there is a line at the counter, everyone gets plenty of time to chew on the eggrolls.... I've actually been all over the menu here, it is all exactly what you would expect from takeout Chinese. The lunch specials are priced right and extend up until 3PM every day! If you wander in after 3, there are also Daily Specials (that probably haven't actually been changed in years) that are similarly priced. The staff is always friendly and speedy with my order. If you are really crushed for time, you can call ahead and have it all waiting for you within 10 minutes. Like many places, there is a minimum order charge ($10) if you want to use a credit card to pay, so if it is just you, make sure you have some Dead Prez in your wallet...$10 at lunch prices will have you stuffed! read more
