Money grabbing shady outfit with ultra high pressure sales tactics. Recently purchased a home that previously had a working Guardian system. Thought oh this will be easy since all of the equipment is already installed and being used. WRONG! Called and was informed that there will be an initial joining fee in excess of $100.00 unless we sign some 5-7 contract and agree to $750 in early term fees PLUS somehow force the next buyers to also contract with Guardian????????? Guardian may be fine for the wealthy who have no appetite for frugality but for the average it is simply a bad decision. Do yourself a huge favor. Try simplisafe. read more

I paid them $750 to get out of my contract and NOTED on the money order that it was my final payment. They cashed it and told me that they used part of the money for a past bill. The past bill wasn't my fault. It took them 2 months to apply the payment & expected me to keep paying the bill. Shortly thereafter,I decided to sell the house. The couple that was buying the house wanted to keep the system and "take over" payments, etc ... We contacted Guardian and the new owners gave them their names, etc. why was it that I started getting calls about a monthly monitoring bill and clearly moved out & pail the fee cancellation fee? They started telling me things like they couldn't reach the new owens etc. Told me that they canceled their appt, etc. So... not my problem?? They still call me & I moved in JULY!! UPDATE!!! If i could mark this company less than one star...I would. I absolutely despise Guardian Protection. We signed an agreement with them when building a house on the east side of Cincinnati. a 5 YEAR AGREEMENT. I voluntarily did that at the time with the understanding that we were planning on being in that house for a long time. Two years into owning that home one of my children unexpectedly and tragically passed away in that new home. We had to move. The day the coroner pulled my child from his bed was the last night we ever slept in that home. Now...fast forward a few months (because it took a few months to sell the home)...I called Guardian to see what we could do about cancelling the contract. I explained that my son had unexpectedly died, we are now living with my wife's parents, and would most likely be there for a while as my family recovered. (we were there for a year before we bought another home) When i asked if there was a way to cancel this agreement because of the extenuating circumstances and the fact that we were not even the ones using the service anymore...I was told absolutely not. I requested to speak with a manager and continued to move up the chain of command as time after time people told me that there was nothing that they can do. So now...years after we built that home, went through that family tragedy, moved on to another home, and are rebuilding the family life that once was...I still get monthly bills from Guardian because they could care less about their clients. That 100% do not care about whether or not you are safe in your home, they don't care about whether or not you are even using the system...they just want to trap you in their agreements and then keep you in them. I highly encourage everyone to forget about Guardian Protection. Maybe they will see this review and then decide to do something about my account, but I doubt it. read more

Beware!! I would give them a zero if it was available. This is the most unethical group I have ever met. I called to cancel my mothers service when she moved. I was told that she recently signed a 5 year commitment to them and I owed them for the full balance. She is 80 years old and obviously not of a sound mind. How can anyone with any ethics or moral decency persuade a older person to sign a long term agreement. Then there were several harassing calls and now a collection agency. Good luck. Terrible!!!! This is the worst company I've ever dealt with, they don't even have the capability to tell you if your system is on or off. What are they monitoring??? They like to lock you into long contracts and act like they're doing you a favor. read more

I will not use Guardian again. Long post, but showing some of the issues we had. We built a house ten years ago and had guardian pre-install an alarm system. For the ten years we lived there we had very few problems and all were taken care of. I highly recommended Guardian at that time. However, we moved and, because we liked the system/service, I called Guardian to install a system in our new house. Customer service was great and set us up for install. The first intaller was a no-show - we had to call Guarian, as they did not call us to say they weren't coming. Things happen, no big deal. Rescheduled and the installer showed up. He looked around at the setup and realized Guardian sent him with the wrong equipment. The installer was great; Guardian screwed up. Third time - different installer, still wrong gear. Guardian's fault, not the installer. This got turned over to a regional manager who was rude, unprofessional, and of absolutely no use. He would not call back, and he blamed everybody but himself. Every time I call customer service it's like starting over again, telling the entire story, incomplete notes in my file, etc. And my system is still not installed. Still missing items - motion sensors, strobe lights... I will never use them again. read more

Re-reviewing due to an excellent follow up to my post and then a follow up call from Guardian. As it turns out, they reviewed my contract and saw that the term had been changed from 60 to a 36 month agreement.They had the integrity to call me and let me know, and in my book, that's first class. 4 stars from me on the turn around, the only reason it's not 5 was for the glitch I dealt with in the beginning. But again, HUGE integrity and that's not easy to find in large companies these days. They weren't afraid to eat a little crow, and I in turn will remain loyal to them for that very reason. read more

We have used Guardian Protection Services for the past several years. We have been very pleased with the service we have received. Any time we have a problem Guardian is there to guide us through with an easy solution. Currently, we are upgrading our system to include smoke detectors. So get this... I have censors on every door and window of my house. Three of them suddenly went out so I called Guardian and they had no explanation other than to say we'll send a tech out on Monday between 8-5 unless I want to pay an after hours service charge to have them come out tonight.We explained to the regional manager that two of the contacts that went out were on the basement door and window and this is the most vulnerable access point in the house. So his only suggestion was to by-pass those sensors. I say to him, so you want me to leave my house vulnerable to intruders for a day or more. How are you fulfilling your contractual responsibilities to me and my family then? His was response that we could pay overtime to have a service technician come out but their warranty would not cover the expense to fix the system outside of their service hours (Mon to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM). So if you're going to use Guardian, make sure that any break-ins, CO2 leaks or fires occur Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM ... otherwise ... you're on your own ... reverting back to your sand-wedge from your golf-bag in the garage for protection ... This review is not to about this specific location but about Guardian Protection services in general. The other day I was sitting in my living room cleaning when a threating voice came over the speaker and said "If your home I am going to come in, tie you to a tree, beat you with a baseball bat, you'll never be the same". I contacted the police and alarm company. The company refused to check into the situation or disconnect the system from my house unless I paid a minimum of 85 dollars plus, I believe they said although am not sure about this last part, 100 dollars for each hour it took.
