We own the equipment at this point as we have already fulfilled our first 3 year contract. We are only paying for the monitoring now. We tried to have our renter take over the payments and put it in her named, or open her own contract. They don't offer contracts with renters, they said, but would look into it and let me know by the end of the day. Our renter was moving in and we needed to let her know. Four days later, after the renter moved in and opened a contract with a company who would work with renters, they said they would talk with her. Too late. Now that I've tried two methods to retain our contract and have been denied, I need to cancel altogether. Can't get anyone to answer my question over the phone and haven't heard back from the rep, Bryan, since Thursday. So frustrating as they want me to pay over $300 break contract. AVOID THESE PEOPLE!!

Holy Cow! You may want to think twice about using this company! I hired them to do a simple job. I…read moreneeded two Cat5 drops installed at my home and to mount two wireless access points. It turned out to be a fiasco! (It started on a Wednesday) He ran the drops but did not understand the instructions for using the Aruba wireless/ HPe access point mounting kits (part number: AP-220-MNT-W2W). In the process, he cut up and damaged one of the mounts as well as made over 8 screw holes in my ceiling. When he was "complete" he quickly took my check and left. Within the first hour of his departure, the AP's received power via POE, but no data. I immediately called and texted him about the issue. He assured me that he was currently going to his next job, but would return the following day (Thursday). The next morning, I texted him at around 8:30 am to confirm he would return that day to correct the cabling issues. I received a reply, that he was indeed planning on returning that day to fix things. At 2:22 pm, I once again texted him to see what the ETA was on returning. His reply was that he was finishing up a job and would text me when he was on the way. At 6:33 pm, I received no calls or texts, so I once again texted him to see if he was indeed still coming. The reply was "I'm heading to pull footage for the cops", whatever that means..... After that text, I never received a call or text again. Fast forward to Sunday, where I had to hire another cabler to come in and fix this guys shotty work. In short, he made several unnecessary holes in my ceiling, cut up and damaged an AP mount kit, and literally mis-wired the RJ-45 end connectors. He literally flipped the pinouts from left to right. In short, clearly, this guy is a jack-leg who doesn't know what he is doing with regards to Cat5 drops, RJ-45, Ethernet, and keystone connectors. He tried to take the "money and run", so I had to put a stop payment on the check.

Successfully filed for default judgment. Reached out early November in hopes of getting paid something. He promises to write a check but doesn't say how much it's for. A month goes by and no check. His response was "I thought you had received it". Yeah right. Then he says he will drop it off at my house that day. Again no check. Now he's saying he didn't mail it because I wrote a bad review and if I want any money at all I have to delete the review. Wonder how many other people he's pulled this with? This man has not kept his word to me so many times I'm losing count.

We recently needed troubleshooting for our home theater system and my husband made numerous attempts to reach someone at Empire for assistance. Calls were not returned and when he did manage to speak with someone about a service appointment, all he could get was "maybe we can stop by on Friday". Not exactly what we expected given the money we initially spent. Needless to say, no one showed up on Friday. We ended up finding another company that not only returned our calls, they sent a tech out a few days later who quickly resolved our issue. Then he went through our system and pointed out some optimizations that, honestly, should have been made during the installation. When you invest in Control4, any updates/changes have to be made through a dealer, so it's extra annoying when the dealer you purchased through no longer wants your business. We look forward to working with our NEW dealer to install additional home automation and home theater components.

Nice work, professional, great customer service. Then... not so much. I called them a couple of years later, following post-storm home renovations (thanks, Gulf Coast weather), to get Wi-Fi working again and re-run Ethernet cables. Over the next couple of weeks, when I'd call to follow up, Kimberley would tell me that "the GM is working on the proposal," but never got return calls. Ghosted. Finally hired an independent IT guy to make the fixes, as well as for some followup reconfigurations on the Wi-Fi gear.

The guys who come to install are friendly and professional. We had a communication and understanding issue regarding the pricing structure of the video doorbell service, and I don't believe it was due to bad intent. Just better communication was needed, which I have discussed with Omar. To his credit, Omar has made it right, which indicates to me he is a business owner who values his strong reputation. Mistakes happen, but the most important measure is how they are handled, and Omar handled his side well.
