Over the phone and by email, Shelley handled all of my long-distance requests (I was in the States and my daughter is in Halifax) with patience, and always in a timely manner. She accommodated our need for overnight storage, and worked with our timing to get out of one place and into another. The day of the move, which happened during the NS wildfires, the company's timing got a little derailed, through no fault of their own. When that impacted my daughter's move, they proactively waived some fees as compensation, and worked with her to make sure that they could still get the move done in time. Shelley sent over an extra mover, and when we suggested doing the move right into the new place, without the overnight hold (we were able to get her into the new place earlier than expected!), Shelley rolled with the punches, and pivoted to execute the move in one day. The extra mover (which we were not charged for) and the whole crew worked quickly but carefully, and got the move done in record time. Overall, it was tremendous value for what we got, and the move was done faster than we expected! Being far away was stressful for me, but Shelley made sure that everything ran smoothly and that my daughter was taken care of. I would highly recommend Gentle Giant for your local move. They still not finished until 10pm at night and charged me $1500. The movers left half of my stuff in the apartment and it took me another 3 days to bring the rest in my small car. They are not reliable and will not do a proper job.

My appliances were wrapped up in heavy moving blankets and secured in their truck. They even rolled out the red carpet (literally) to ensure that my new floors and hardwood stairs would not be damaged while moving the appliances to their locations on different floors. Jeff and his crew were courteous and, while I was upset that the property managers had not placed the elevator on service, Jeff and the guys were unfazed and said that since there was only one flight of stairs to deal with it was actually easier and quicker for them to use the stairs! I really appreciated that they asked me if it was ok if they got a coffee on the drive over to my new place - while of course it was ok, I thought it was courteous of them to acknowledge that they're on my dime until the move was over. If I was moving from the HRM to another city, I'd probably move myself because it would be quite a lot of money due to longer travel times, but for moving within the HRM I would most definitely use Able movers again.

Would have to reschedule...oh no, we had prepped the house for an easy delivery, doors removed, drop cloths, old stove disconnected. I received a phone call from Lenard the day before where he explained the process of the move to me and how the day would play out. As explained by Lenard the removal guys arrive into work at 8am where they clean their truck and prepare for their days work. Lenard told me to expect them between 9-9.30am but to allow 15 minutes incase of bridge traffic. At 10am I called the number he had given me to reach an answer machine, I then called the office asked to speak to Lenard and was referred to another answer machine. At 10.30am I received a phone call from Jennifer informing me the removal guys would arrive between 12-1pm. Big difference in the time which subsequently meant I had to lose a days work. When the removal guys arrived they had none of the right packing equipment and their truck was more than half full meaning they did not have room for our stuff. The two guys spent thirty minutes trying to contact the office whereby then they asked us to ring so this issue could be resolved. Between myself and my husband we were reffered from one person to another with nothing been resolved. Finally we were put intouch with Lenard who basically took no responsibilty, he tried to shift blame to others and never once apologized or even acknowledged the wrong information he had given me or the fact two removal guys showed up to my home four hours late, with a half full truck and incorrect packing materials.. Lenard was extremly unprofessional and to be frank he does not care about you or your move. If you want a stress free, worry free, friendly and professional moving comapny I would AVOID having any dealings with Mackie.
