Over the phone and by email, Shelley handled all of my long-distance requests (I was in the States and my daughter is in Halifax) with patience, and always in a timely manner. She accommodated our need for overnight storage, and worked with our timing to get out of one place and into another. The day of the move, which happened during the NS wildfires, the company's timing got a little derailed, through no fault of their own. When that impacted my daughter's move, they proactively waived some fees as compensation, and worked with her to make sure that they could still get the move done in time. Shelley sent over an extra mover, and when we suggested doing the move right into the new place, without the overnight hold (we were able to get her into the new place earlier than expected!), Shelley rolled with the punches, and pivoted to execute the move in one day. The extra mover (which we were not charged for) and the whole crew worked quickly but carefully, and got the move done in record time. Overall, it was tremendous value for what we got, and the move was done faster than we expected! Being far away was stressful for me, but Shelley made sure that everything ran smoothly and that my daughter was taken care of. I would highly recommend Gentle Giant for your local move. They even rolled out the red carpet (literally) to ensure that my new floors and hardwood stairs would not be damaged while moving the appliances to their locations on different floors. Everything arrived in perfect condition, unlike my last move where a whole set of irreplaceable dishes was broken. Jeff and his crew were courteous and, while I was upset that the property managers had not placed the elevator on service, Jeff and the guys were unfazed and said that since there was only one flight of stairs to deal with it was actually easier and quicker for them to use the stairs! This was not true. I was going to let it go but I can't. I am pleased the owner has the backs of his employees but I don't appreciate the accusations. Once again- the bare bones details: Booked Able because I moved a lot and I like to move my custom around, share the wealth as it were. One of the movers saw a doorstop from my previous movers and immediately was offended. So, here's the the thing. I booked them for a small truck move. I explained the situation and location. They agreed to come with the correct truck for noon. I started calling them at 4 pm to ask why the truck wasn't there yet. The owner let all my calls go through to voice mail. At 5 pm they showed up with a huge moving truck, completely inappropriate for the tight quarters. I'm on the corner of two busy streets. No place to park so they all left and returned over an hour later with another big truck. I'd been told they had a smaller one they could use. Parking was still a problem, so we were discussing if they could park in front of the dry hydrant - I agreed to pay the ticket if they got one. While we were discussing, one of the movers saw a woman he knew, and they started heading over to Alderney landing for a coffee. At that point I did raise my voice to reach him, asking where he was going. He yelled back he was going to take a crap and that he didn't want to crap in my apartment. This was in the middle of Portland and Alderney drive. I have to admit that by this time I was losing it. I have MS and am disabled and the stress and long standing was exhausting me. The boss then called me to tell me his mover was offended and would no longer move me because "I sweared at him". I admit, I may have said 'where the hell are you going' but it was already 6 pm and absolutely nothing had been moved My son and I decided that was the end, being told off by the boss when the service was so impossible. We fired them at this point, my son rented a truck from Enterprise and we and my landlady (God bless her) moved us across the street. It took us until midnight and I had to rest for a week afterwards. They didn't even offer to carry things over. It was just across the street!!! I felt the one mover didn't like the look of the move after what was admittedly a long day and deliberately made it impossible. I found no support at all from the boss of Able Movers and to see his response to my previous review, he remains the same. He did not listen to my side of the story at all, and never responded to my phone calls- in fact only talked to me when he called me to tell me off for MY behaviour!!! Just to give you a perspective, I am 5' tall, 61, and disabled. They treated me horribly all day. I will never use these movers again and hope they change their attitude for others.

Then no sign of them. Called the office & was told they couldn't find our house, horse puckies, & were now in Bedford! Would have to reschedule...oh no, we had prepped the house for an easy delivery, doors removed, drop cloths, old stove disconnected. The person on the phone said she would call them to return to our house. Am I boiling mad!!! You bloody well can bet on it. Next I am getting on to GE as to why they would hire such morons.

I received a phone call from Lenard the day before where he explained the process of the move to me and how the day would play out. As explained by Lenard the removal guys arrive into work at 8am where they clean their truck and prepare for their days work. Lenard told me to expect them between 9-9.30am but to allow 15 minutes incase of bridge traffic. At 10am I called the number he had given me to reach an answer machine, I then called the office asked to speak to Lenard and was referred to another answer machine. At 10.30am I received a phone call from Jennifer informing me the removal guys would arrive between 12-1pm. Big difference in the time which subsequently meant I had to lose a days work. When the removal guys arrived they had none of the right packing equipment and their truck was more than half full meaning they did not have room for our stuff. The two guys spent thirty minutes trying to contact the office whereby then they asked us to ring so this issue could be resolved. Between myself and my husband we were reffered from one person to another with nothing been resolved. Finally we were put intouch with Lenard who basically took no responsibilty, he tried to shift blame to others and never once apologized or even acknowledged the wrong information he had given me or the fact two removal guys showed up to my home four hours late, with a half full truck and incorrect packing materials.. Lenard was extremly unprofessional and to be frank he does not care about you or your move. If you want a stress free, worry free, friendly and professional moving comapny I would AVOID having any dealings with Mackie.
