Its clear this is probably not a program one should participate in even though this company has been in business since 1915. Well my review is strictly related to a product that is produced by others under the Guardsman Brand so my (1) review is not related to the program so many customers apparently feel sucks, since this product is manufactured by a third party that is not directly related to to this company hopefully this will have a different value. I purchased this DIY product to cover up a few nicks and scratches on a few pieces of furniture. This five color multi-pack is basically (5) crayons of the most commonly use finishes and is not for the kids so caution should be taken while using or storing this product and you should take every measure to avoid getting this product in your eyes or on your clothing and clean up after using. This is a effective product and a simple one to use they even include a small crayon sharpener so there's no need to contaminate any of your kitchen utensils. This solution is probably a more sensible solution than purchasing a furniture insurance policy that you'll likely never use or one that will be challenged if you do ever need to file a claim, there are just too many variables and loopholes involved. If you have damaged your grandmother's heirloom armoire it's likely that there are locate professionals in close proximity to make the repair that is reasonable priced. They are scammers. I purchased a dining table, sofa chairs, and a couch from Adem furniture three years ago. I paid the full amount and also purchased a five-year warranty with Guardsman. Recently, I had problems with my couch and dining table. According to my warranty, I submitted a claim. However, it took them more than four months just to respond, and they eventually told me that my claim was denied. I called several times to ask for an explanation, but I received no help or clear answer. The customer service was very disappointing. Worthless protection plan! If you have the opportunity to purchase it, JUST SAY NO! Luckily we received our protection plan at no charge due to the amount of furniture we purchased from Havertys, which we definitely got what we paid for, NOTHING. We have been over the moon happy with the quality and look of our Haverty furniture except for one piece, the Barbados buffet. The design of the hardware on the 3 door is bad. The door pulls metal is not strong enough to pull the doors open without the metal snapping and breaking. One by one as we used the piece, the handles broke. When I opened a claim, the only claim I opened, they denied the claim because I didn't open it right when the hardware broke. Stupid me being honest about when they broke. Even though the piece was still within the warranty period, they refused to fix it. Keep in mind that the hardware is less than $50 to send out so over $50, they're ok with poor customer service. Thankfully when I called Havertys, they made the situation right by sending me the hardware at no charge. I do love Havertys, however if the issue would have been a bigger deal, such as something that couldn't have been fixed with a parts send out we can replace ourselves, things would have gotten ugly for all parties involved. Same yourself some money and don't purchase the Guardsmen plan. You'll be better off saving your cash and if something goes wrong, pay a reputable furniture repair company to fix it. I had to order a part for$125 and then for $433 guardsman sent repair person back to my home. he "fixed" the hairs. 52 days later the power stopped working. contacted Guardsman's. customer service who ignored me. they had a 30 day guarantee. total rip off over $500 to use the chairs for52 days, guardsman is strictly a middleman with independent contractors. don't stand behind their work. find yourself a local repair man. read more

I had to remove the positive experience review of getting our new furniture to a very negative experience since they sold us the "warranty" which has been completely useless. Guardsman is who they sold us with confidence and Guardsman has been completely unresponsive. After months of sending pictures and whatever Guardsman asked for and then waiting for some kind of response, we contacted Haverty's. They had Guardsman contact us to send someone out. He changed the date to labor day, which we had plans but cancelled our plans as we were excited to get the furniture fixed. Well, he did NOT fix anything. He simply confirmed what the issues were and left. Why have us send pictures and go through hoops. This company has no communication or business ethics whatsoever. They have very well written scripts for their employees to follow and confuse you about the claim process. I had a 5 year plan and have had 3 issues all in which they find a reason to deny the claim. You should have mailed in a claim form, you didn't respond to our email fast enough, etc. All I can say is do not purchase anything from Guardsman. You're better off saving your money and dealing with a repair company if you have an issue. When you read all the other complaints you see a pattern of people's claims getting denied followed up by the "company response" of your claim was denied for blah, blah, blah. We purchased over 10K worth of high end furniture from Ethan Allen (EA) in Brentwood Tennessee. The sale clerks at the store recommended the Guardsman protection plan in the event we had any problems with the 2 sofas, 1 leather recliner and 1 oversized ottoman. Well, we did. The fabric on one of the sofa's ripped at the corner on the back corner and needed to be repaired. Simple fabric failure. Called the store and they told us this was absolutely covered under the protection plan, checked the actual protection plan contract and sure enough it appeared to be covered. Was actually coached by the sales clerk on what to say in the claim to ensure it was approved. Did it exactly as directed, submitted the claim with pictures and waited forever. Finally started calling and found out what a joke Guardsman customer service is. First, they make it purposely difficult to speak to a person. Second, the website provides no information. After multiple calls and emails and 3 weeks after submitting our claim I was told "fabric failure" was not covered. Went back to Ethan Allen and they advised it was covered but told me to submit the claim stating the fabric was ripped by a dog as animal accidents were covered under the 1 time lifetime warranty section - even though that is not what happened. So we tried again and again the claim was denied after waiting 5 weeks. I wish we had the money to hire a lawyer and sue but we don't. I highly recommend never purchasing a warranty through Guardsman or purchasing furniture from Ethan Allen. We have been extremely disappointed with our "high end" furniture and the fact they don't stand behind their product. In my opinion this is a very dishonest company. They were experiencing issues with their website when I went to file a claim. None of the claim categories for the type of stain that we experienced (dirt from the bottom of a shoe) were working -- in other words, I could not submit a claim. The only category that would work was "bodily oil", which it was not, but I was told when I purchased my policy from Ethan Allen that "everything is covered" so I went ahead and filed to get this item off my to do list. 10 days later I received an email that my claim was denied. I filed again under the correct soil category. My claim was denied a second time. I appealed the second denial and explained the situation... again they denied my claim for a third time. I will NEVER purchase another Guardsman policy again. I recommend you also do not entrust your business to this company. Shady way to handle businesses. Kids have spilled various liquids or foods on the couch and each claim has been denied for essentially "normal wear and tear". Guardsman is misleading consumers grossly and with no shame. Their fine print exclusions dis-qualify all damages they claim to cover in their marketing brochure. Guardsman plan was sold to me along with my purchase of outdoor furniture from Chair King. The nice brochure said it covered rips/cuts/burns. When I made a claim about a rip from the dog, they denied it under their "misuse - animal damage" section. In fact, every possible cause of any cut/tear/burn is excluded from their coverage. The brochure also says that they cover burns and heat marks, but then the exclusions say that they do not cover such burns/heat marks that are caused by fire. What else these can be caused by? Their exclusions are very broad and basically dis-qualifies all damages they claim to cover on their brochure. read more

We had a fabric damage with our Jean Louis Denoit, Celestite, Baker Sofa and reported fabric damage claim with Guardsman, their insurance provider. I purchased a washer from Wayfair on 10/16/2020 with a 3 year protection plan that should start AFTER the 1 year manufacturer's warranty expires per Guardsman service contract terms and conditions (see attached). Under "Effective Date of Coverage" of Guardsman protection plan it states; Coverage for a failure resulting from a mechanical or electrical breakdown, as referenced within the definition of "failure" above begins upon expiration of the shortest portion of the manufacturers original parts and /or labor warranty and continues for the remainder of your term".. I have also attached Hotpoint's manufacturer's warranty which shows Labor and Parts warranty 1-year entire appliance. When I called to inquire about my warranty on Tuesday March 5th, a Representative stated that I only had a 2 year warranty and that I needed to send a copy of my invoice showing the purchase of a 3 year warranty. I sent an e-mail with a copy of my 3 year warranty invoice from Wayfair. I then called back and spoke to a second representative that told me that my 3 year warranty from Guardsman included the 1 year manufacturers warranty plus 2 years protection plan which did not make sense considering that I paid for a 3 year plan with guardsman not a 2 year plan plus a manufacturers warranty. If that were the case that means Guardsman charged me for a 1 year manufacturer's warranty which I already had through the manufacturer (Hotpoint). read more
