Once again I struck gold at Walt's Fish Market/Restaurant. A day trip to Sarasota with the g/f and…read morea quick check of Yelp was all it took. The exterior very Tiki looking. The interior, a mixture of fish shack and fish market. Brittany, was our server. Very good at her job. Fast and decisive. When the girlfriend's fries were cold, we told Brittany. No defensiveness, just a quick fix and a smile. The difference between a good experience and an awkward one. First time I've had fish dip. It came complimentary as an appetizer. Very good. I'd have that anytime. I'm a convert. I had a shrimp Po' Boy and my girlfriend, the grouper Reuben sandwich. I could wholeheartedly recommend either. It was a very tasty visit. I commend Walt's and will be back.

My parents raved about Walt's and how wonderfully fresh it is, and we were excited to try. We were brought some smoked white fish spread to start out. I am not huge on smoked fish spreads but I did really enjoy it. We got the ceviche and hush puppies to start. I wouldn't get the ceviche again (shrimp and some white fish I don't remember), but the hush puppies were very interesting and we did enjoy them. For my entree I got the snow crab legs with the recommended seasoning. This was a great move. I loved the crab and with the seasoning it came with I didn't feel like I needed to use a ton of butter. My husband got the triple tail, being one of the day's featured fish. We weren't in love with it, but it was our first time trying triple tail so maybe we could've gotten something else. The atmosphere is great, with the fish market right there in the restaurant. There's a nice waiting area with bar access where you can even get some appetizers. The staff was cool and attentive. Would definitely come back to dine or shop!

This part is not their fault, but there were sooooo many "love bugs" at their entrance. I could not…read morestand out there without freaking out. Once our large group was seated, there were fans around us, so the bugs went away. I am from California, so I am not used to good service lol, so I was pleasantly surprised with all the "Yes ma'am," "Thank you, ma'am," etc. The server was nice and a total trooper with the number of people he had to keep track of because we all had separate checks. He did an amazing job, and we were extremely grateful. I tried their Housemade Crab Dip, and it was delicious. It was a great portion, really creamy, and well seasoned. For my meal, I had the Admiral's Platter. Everything was delicious, not too oily, and I loved the dipping sauces that came with it. Overall, it was a great experience with great service. If I'm ever back in Sarasota, I would love to come back.

We sat on the water and enjoyed a beautiful view. The decor and atmosphere is beachy and relaxing. The cocktails were good. The parking is convenient. The bad part that made it disappointing. The food was not great. My grouper sandwich was fair. It was kinda bland. The slaw was dry. The fish and chips was odd. The fries were decent. The fish was inside a very thick coating of batter. The crab legs were good. The coconut shrimp were good but too heavily battered. The green beans on the side were totally unseasoned. The worst was the chicken sandwich. It was tasteless with a a thick greasy batter. It was bad. Once we decided to send it back our server took forever to return to table to check on us. We were mid meal before we checked on. My daughter decided to pickup something else at a different restaurant after we left. How do you mess up a chicken sandwich? Unless you are just coming in for drinks(or crab legs) I would recommend a different choice of restaurant. The view adds one star to the rating.
