Guava Tree Bar & Grill had amazing local-style food at reasonable prices and pleasant service. I can see this place becoming a solid, local establishment like Tiffanyʻs or Marcoʻs. Folks, this place should be party of the ʻServing Maui for 30 yearsʻ club! I was here for a private event. The place is cute. Small, charming and loads of potential. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Alrhough their wine selection was limited and a bit uneven (Sutter Home but then a J. Lohr for chardonnay), their ginger ale selection was delicious! The food was incredible! Tender, fall apart pork slices, covered with savory, brown gravy; crisp, yet juicy, chicken katsu with a bite of ginger; toothsome chopped steak, tender mushrooms and flavorful pepper slices. Came here for a private party. It's a great place to hold a small event for a special birthday, graduation or any celebration. They have a stage area for a DJ or Band. What an absolute gem of a hole-in-the-wall to find! So many different reasons to enjoy your time here. Has a great, laid-back vibe to come and relax with a drink. Plan ahead because they also have nights with live music - perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. Great for dancing and enjoying good music. Delicious food - loved the Mochiko chicken. Order comes with enough chicken to share between two if you wanted. They have a full bar as well as great signature cocktails. Both Da Guava Mule and the Guava Sunset were strong but still had that good guava flavor. All the staff here were so wonderful - efficient, kind, and fun to talk to. Guava Tree also serves food a little later, so that was nice when we were looking for a place to eat. Great stop if you're looking for good food and drinks. Stumbled on this bar and it was 1 of our fav experiences during our visit to Maui! We were HUNGRYY coming back from hiking and most places closed around Kihei. My friends found this bar and grill and we had pretty low expectations because it was so random LOL We were exhaustedd from our long day but was revived as soon as we opened the doors- there was live music and what looked like a mother son duo, dancing!! It was so freshing, wholesome and joyous We were immediately seated and ordered their Guavarita which was super tasty. Our friends loved the guava wings so they went for a 2nd round and a surprising hit was their tofu!! It doesnt look like much but it was a comforting meal as we enjoyed the live music The band mentioned the mayor was present and he was at the table next to us! It was neat seeing him shake hands with locals in the bar and exchange smile, photos and laugher. The cheeseburger I got was genuinely one of the best I've had in a while! My boyfriend got the crispy pork and wasabi fries, which he thought were really good. The drinks were yummy, definitely on the stronger side. We got the guava mule and guava sunset. I liked the mule a lot, the sunset was a bit strong for me but my boyfriend enjoyed. First off the portion is HUGE! Very worth the price. The pork belly had a nice crispy skin and tender meat. The garlic shrimp had good flavor but was a little too salty for me. Casey was our server!! She was very friendly and attentive! She was also tending to the bar! Probably about 20 people in total. Ambiance is very bar, welcoming and comfortable!!! Uh THIS place is excellent!!! They had guava in all their drinks which is incredible and fitting!!! We came here to see Eli Mac perform, unfortunately they could have used a sound person to fix the sounds, but it was fun! They had an excellent plethora of different food there, but it was great and not overly priced..... When we went in, it def felt like a local hangout spot.... there was only one white dude in the place and he was with us LOL!!! So we had some deep fried ahi, roasted port, forgot the name of the fried fish but that was good... we had some ginger tofu and the drinks!!! Lots of sugar, but one is ok!! Only place open late in Kahului. We had somewhat of a hard time figure out where it was but we are glad we followed through. Was surprisingly one of the best places we ate during our entire trip! Stopped here day we landed on Maui because it was open late and had good reviews. First things first, it's in the same parking lot as the gas station, it's a little sign and you might miss it is you're not paying attention. I am back at Guava Tree these guys are very nice and friendly. And when people are nice and give me service then I'll be back, plus I don't drink any kind of liquor but I can eat. And if they don't mind me not buying drinks then they'll see me coming back for food and I'll post good stuff about them. I wasn't lazy to cook, I was ono for good grinds. Good and ono supersedes not being lazy. Good tasting local foods. So far, we've tried the Shrimp Scampi, Crispy Pork, Stuffed Shrimp special, Calamari, Chicken Katsu, Mochiko Chicken, and the Rib Eye. All great. The only thing I don't recommend is the take out container. It's not my favorite. This cardboard is good cause it is very bio degradable but, if you have gravy or some kind of moist food it will absorb all the goodness. I did notice they use foil to prevent that which is okay for me. Please support local business, no matter were you are. If they appreciate your business, they deserve more business. read more

Stumbled upon this local gem after looking on Yelp for something close by the airport. Not a huge menu but the food was great, enjoyed our margaritas (we weren't there during happy hour but you can't beat those prices!) the service was excellent, and we had LIVE MUSIC!!!! Our friends were celebrating an early anniversary & wanted to go somewhere close to where we live so I suggested we come here, Guava Tree. I can tell you that we were not disappointed. Upon walking in you get your temperature checked & there is hand sanitizer available at every table. They are also pretty strict with the mandatory mask rule (which is great). The service was awesome, everyone was very friendly & helpful. What I liked the most though, was the overall ambience of the place. It just looked & felt so clean & sleek but at the same time it was like you were at someone's home. Now for the food... everything we ate was just delicious. The chicken wings were nice & crunchy as well as the beer battered mushrooms. I was super excited to try the ginger tofu & it definitely lived up to my expectations. But that wasn't the best part... you need to go during happy hour (4-6pm) & order a guava tree sunset! Hands down the best drink I've had so far. That drink alone will keep me coming back here. I've been wanting to stop in and try this new place. They opened in February, just before this pandemic hit Hawaii. They are Located off Waiehu beach road next to shell gas station amongst karaoke bars. During this time all restaurants are closed, but are still offering take out. I called my order in and ordered their mushroom burger ($12)which comes with fries. I loved that they automatically add in a good size container of ketchup and one for mustard mayonnaise combo. They fries where a little to crisp for me and I wish they added a bit more mushrooms, but it was still delish. I also, ordered their ribeye steak bites ($23) with mushroom and onions. It was perfectly cooked, meat soft and dish had lots of flavor. It also came with a side of rice. Once i got to restaurant I paid my bill through Venmo, glad they offered a contactless way to pay. And they brought my order out to my car. Once this ordeal is over i look forward to visiting this establishment to enjoy their live music and ono food. read more

We love coming to this place! The crispy pork is made to perfection. One bite and I'm forever hooked. It's just the right amount of crisp around tender pork full of flavor. The Ginger Tofu and the Shoyu Poke is also a must. The Chicken Katsu and the dipping sauce was also very tasty. I could not get enough of that dipping sauce OMG! Of course we could not leave without having the cornbread with ice cream drizzled with chocolate! I must say that although I'm not a huge fan of cornbread in general, the cornbread here at Guava Tree is amazing.
