My wife and I tried this restaurant this past weekend and it was good. The food was great but a little different than what we normally would expect. The service was top notch and super friendly. While visiting Bryson City my wife and I wanted Mexican for takeout. Our number one test is a simple order of Cheese Enchiladas, as the quality of flavor and freshness, as well as the recipe for the sauce, has to be excellent. Bang! It was excellent, and now I want to come back to Bryson City just to try more items as Guayabito's! My partner and I had taco loco and loved it, wish our Mexican restaurant had this, delicious! Service was fantastic, got me a sample of beer, no problem. Ordered said beer was great. Dos Equis. Ambiance was good, does not effect the experience at all. Our waiter was great, didn't catch his name but his brother works there also. Thanks for a great job and experience. It has the standard Mexican decor with both tables and booths. Service was very good with the right amount of attention and a friendly staff. Reading some of the reviews, we stayed away from the fruit margaritas and, I have to say, even the standard lime one was just ok and a bit short of alcohol. The pina colada was tasty but again, short on the alcohol....maybe the town is drying up! The spinach quesadilla wasn't too bad but could have used more cheese. The special quesadilla was a little on the sweet side but tasty. Also I'd have to agree with one review about the salsa. It's not quite just tomato sauce but definitely needs some spices added. Overall it's not bad and considering the limited selection of restaurants open after 8pm, it's a good place to fill up :-) read more

I've come here for at least a decade and this glorious place has remained one of my favorite Mexican places of all time. The food is superb, the service is fast and very pleasant, and the margaritas are sneaky!! I love it here. My partner was very complimentary of the Burrito Mexicana, and I loved my shrimp quesadillas. I've had the enchiladas verdes and tacos salads in the past and strongly recommend them as well. Wow! I am very pleased with Guayabitos Mexican Restaurant! I stopped in for Mexican lunch during a road trip, not expecting anything special. Boy, was I wrong! Everything about this place is great. From the moment you walk in, you enter an amazing Mexican cuisine. There are very cool decorations throughout the store. The menu is very well-made with lots of pictures, which is very helpful while deciding what to order. I enjoyed the Chips and Salsa. The only bad thing was the water tasted pretty weird. That's ok, though. The restrooms were very clean and there were some very amazing murals by the restrooms. The quesadilla and Mexican Salad were great! I highly recommend Guayabitos! read more

I had dinner at Guayabitos last night. I would rate it an only average restaurant. Firstly, they are doing a good job in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We were seated promptly, and served the usual tortilla chips & salsa starter. The chips are served cold & stale with a spicy salsa. (I prefer them warm & crispy). I ordered the chicken burrito with rice and wife had a cheese quesadilla. Something must have been lost in translation, at any rate, a beef burrito showed up instead.. not wanting to fuss, I dined happily on the ground beef. The rice side, was passable, but for $3, I did think the serving size could have been more generous. Our order was very promptly prepared by the kitchen, perhaps a little to quickly. We had the flan for dessert, which was quite tasty, with a nice hint of citrus. The staff is attentive. There is also a large bar space. read more

Bland tacos, greasy black beans, and the sopapilla (should've stopped ordering after the trying the tacos and beans) was way too "churched" up with chocolate syrup, candied cherries, and whip cream. I reviewed this place a year or so ago and was not that impressed especially the very dirty dining room carpet but am pleased to report a new carpet installed and while the food was always reasonably good and the service is fast & friendly. With all the new competition in town including another good Mexican restaurant they must have realized you have to raise your game if you want to remain in business and they have. read more

Our waitress took our order and spent the rest of our time there cleaning the restaurant. The smell of chemicals overwhelming the restaurant made my eyes burn. Finally I got up and asked a different person for our check and some boxes. Our waitress saw us with the check and didn't say anything to us. The chicken and lime soup was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend it. It is a very large bowl and was better than the entire rest of my meal. The fajita quesadilla was sub par and tasted like a grilled cheese. It also did not come with the sides it was supposed to. All of my table's orders were messed up. The salsa has a great flavor and we liked the kick to it! Some salsas are so bland they taste like ketchup. Our kids like the virgin daiquiris. Nothing in town was open late, and we wanted to get out of our hotel room, so we appreciated that it stayed open late. The food was pretty good and came out fast. Had to ask several time for items previously ordered! As one local put it after we told them about our experience.... "it tastes like Gringos are working in the kitchen".
