Great staff, wonderful boutique and always loads of fun. Be prepared to hear your bank account scream, but you'll enjoy every second.

Got the $600.00 car coat and not happy. Yes, best materials and very well made. And it's made in…read moreUSA by union labor. It could be a favorite of mine, but . . . . It's way too big. I told Rasty on the phone my exact size, 48 when I ordered it. He said sizing was true. Coat measures 52" across the arm pits, so it's a size 50 - 51. I liked it at first, but it gets way too floppy with its straight cut. The next size down would have been fine. Monkey trap pockets. Put your hand in and you can't get it out. You have to hold on to the bottom hem and pull your hand out. Pockets measure 5.5" across, flaps 7". You struggle to get a wallet in and out of the pocket. Rasty says it's to prevent sagging and that Reed has made the coat that way forever. Maybe the leather stretches. Still, this is silly. A car coat like this is not a fashion statement. You need to be able to put things in your pocket. Bent button. One of the buttons was hard to open and close. Really hard. I figured it was a break in problem. When it did not break in, I looked closely and the button stem was bent. It came that way. Rasty said he'd send another button. I reminded him. He never did. No answer. I wanted to exchange it, even for a price, but by the time I got around to it, I was two weeks beyond the 30 day return policy. Also, I had worn it a half dozen times and it was not "new". I was told I would have to pay an "80% restocking fee", a $480.00 loss. I was told the pockets could not be redone. There was something about recutting the coat, but I would have had to visit Detroit, 800 miles away, or a store in another city and I just don't have the time. Reed would not offer me a slightly better deal on a return and replacement. The coat could pass for new, even if it's not, but they would still only credit me $120.00. Disappointed. Could have been a great experience.

The sales lady was extremely nice and helpful and they have a great selection of leather items. Some are made right there in the factory and others are imported. Highly recommended if you are looking for an alternative to the mall stores. One tip: they sell on Amazon so check the prices before you go or have your phone with you. The price they quote you may be higher than online but they will honor the lower price.

My husband and I recently took an interest in making leather wallets. When we first began, we…read morescoured forums online about where to get supplies. Tandy came up often, and lucky for us, there's one in Livonia. We began by conveniently purchasing a bag of scrap leather and other necessities at Tandy. One we mastered our designs using scrap leather, we went back for larger, more expensive cuts of leather. The employees were really helpful about what thickness leather would work best for us and never once judged our lack of skill. They did quite the opposite! Advice was given any time we asked, which was welcomed for a couple newbies. We've visited several times now. After comparing prices between Tandy and Amazon, I've determined Tandy is competitive. Some accessories can be found cheaper online, but for leather, we love having a local affordable option. If you're looking for a fun craft to do with your kids or scout troops, you'll find a lot of kits with detailed instructions that anyone can follow. Once my business takes off, I'll begin buying from actual tanneries. In the meantime, Tandy is an excellent source for beginners and intermediate leather crafters alike. I went in to get advice on repairing my luxury leather planner. I was trying to find someone for…read morehelp, which took a while. And then the worst happened. The worker, Terry, asked what was wrong. I showed him the area on my planner that was peeling (which was a small area), but he kept cutting me off asking, "Where-- Where is it? I can't even see it" many times as I was trying to point out the area to him. He then said, "That is such a small area of leather, and there is nothing we can do." Without even allowing me to ask any questions or speak. He just kept cutting me off. I then finally got a word in edgewise and asked if there was a professional leather artisan in store who might be able to repair, and he said, "No we don't do any custom work at all," which didn't really address my question. I asked again, specifying REPAIR, and he said, "No we don't do that." And he did not offer any products they sell to repair it at home, basically expecting me to leave. So then I had to pull him aside again and ask, "Are there any leather glues that I can buy to fix this?" He took me to the product section and pointed out the small Tandy Eco-Flo All In One bottle. I was trying to ask him if that glue would be safe to use on the type of leather of my planner, and he cut me off before I could even say what the leather was, saying, "I'm only recommending this due to the tiny area of issue," and then he walked away. Unhappy with how I was treated, I was waiting to speak with another worker, and it looked like there were only two people working. I took a little bit of time to browse (I had driven forty minutes to get there and was not about to leave), I heard some loud speaking from the cashier's area, where another woman was telling the same worker Terry to "not talk to [her rudely] like that" because she is a seamstress who knows how to work with leather. This gave me the slight indication that maybe Terry is a misogynist. After a while of not being able to find someone to help, I just decided to go checkout, and I prayed I wouldn't have Terry as my cashier. Thankfully I didn't, and I was about to checkout, but I asked the other worker (I cannot remember his name, but he is the manager) about the product, and he stopped me from purchasing the product because it would not help repair my leather planner and instead recommending me to a couple cobblers in the surrounding area. I thanked him for the information, and I also notified him of Terry's actions, in which he said that he will "have a talk with him." Meanwhile, Terry was listening to everything what the manager was saying about how the glue wouldn't be helpful, and he chimed in saying, "Oh wow yeah I would have never thought of that!" enthusiastically, no doubt, to the manager. I turned to Terry saying the product he recommended was completely wrong. I then left. Very unhappy at how I was treated in this store and will take my leather business elsewhere. I cannot believe they employ such a rude man who did not want to look at my problem, kept shouting at me without even letting me talk, and gave me wrong information about leather. The manager was nice and knowledgeable. I say this warning for those of you who are novices with leather information, DO NOT SPEAK WITH TERRY.
