Use to be my go to place for used and obscure albums. I'd spend hours there going through the bins. Service was awesome. Then the guy I dealt with passed and it seemed to go down hill. I just noticed they decided to get into politics. Thts not a good thing IMO as you usually alienate half your customer base. It doesn't matter which way the wind blows it matters tht you decided to push your views on your customers. I'll pass. It was fun while it lasted. read more

I am a CD collector since I started collecting in the early 1990's, when the music business told us all that records were dead, never to come back and that CDs were superior. I won't argue about which is better, I am just looking for CD's. I like the store a lot in terms of 'local record store' vibe. Staff was nice, selection overall was very good. Better than usual selection of new cassettes. Used cassette selection was OK. I'd definitely stop here again if I was in OKC. I did buy an few things and I did find a few CDs, too. Personally, I'd like a better selection of new CDs and better used cassettes. read more

They only gave me 10% of my collection when I sold it if that. I'm still pretty hot mad about it and I don't want to talk to the owner about it cause they're not gonna give me any money for it. I am in dire need of used vinyl and this was my first stop... I ended up buying 8 and as well 11 cd's. 10 of which were in a grab bag for 5.00... the other was a favorite of mine Cameo greatest hits..... This location has a what I call a cheap vinyl section which to me is good for starting out a collection and prices are wellllll cheap in this section... My turntable now has items from Kenny Loggins to Sister sledge... gotta have variety. The older I get, the more I love Guestroom. It's nostalgia in all the best possible ways. Like, it takes me back to college days since I was friends with some of the guys when we were at OU together. And it reminds me of when I was cool and went to shows all the time and knew all the words and just exactly when the guitar would come in. And it reminds me of my favorite movies like High Fidelity, Empire Records, Almost Famous, and all those movies that make you feel like you were coming of age when some of the most important movies about music came out. And it makes me remember when I just had to have an import from the EU of a band I fell in love with at SXSW and the Guestroom guys found it for me. FWIW, I still love the Wombats with all my ruined heart. And since none of us are getting to go to shows right now, and our favorite venues are closing up possibly forever, and festivals may be a thing of the past for either the near future or the forever future, I find myself even more nostalgic for music and shows, for the bands I loved while growing up. And I feel so sad for my kids that they might not ever get to flatten themselves up at the front of a stanchion and sweat their asses off and almost die in a crush of fans, and sing along while their idols glance at them, close enough to touch, ears ringing for days reminding them of the magic... oh my God I hope they get to do that. But maybe they'll at least get to have the sensation of searching for record by favorite band, and hitting pay dirt. Maybe they'll learn the magic of B-sides and EPs, of live versions and side projects. Maybe they'll fall in love with all the classics I love, like Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie (before they were on the Hills for chrissakes) and Sleater-Kinney, the Sounds, and the Beasties... the way I found some of the classics my parents had in their youth and felt like I was discovering something new. Maybe they won't. But I hope they can always go to Guestroom and get a little idea of what it was like to have to really search for that record you just absolutely had to have. read more

Love this store! The staff are terrific here and knowledgeable and very hospitable. Great selection of vinyl, CD's, box sets and artwork. Lots of room to move around and very organized. On top of everything, they have audio equipment new and old-turntables, speakers, amps, receivers and more. No excuse not to shop here! read more

The selection here is wide, and the staff members I've encountered have all been both friendly and helpful. Parking here? Oh, Lord. It sucks. I won't lie. (But think creatively and you can squeeze right in, else quit being a lazy ass and just park across the street and then walk over. Jeez.) I just found out that there is a Norman location. My family and I haven't really gone anywhere since March 2020, but after the passing of my friend's husband, I had to do something. I called Guestroom and they went through all the records they had on hand for the band I was looking for. They took my payment over the phone and allowed me to call them when I arrived so they could bring it out curbside. It was pretty great service from a pretty great store. I was visiting family in OKC and was excited to check another page off of my Best Record Stores in the US book. The selection was great but it was quite literally the most price gouged shop I've been in four countries. Same pressings of records I purchased less than a month ago in Manhattan ranged 7.00 - 12.00 more in Oklahoma. This is a pretty sweet record store. When I'm in OKC again, I'll definitely make time to revisit. They have a huge variety - tons, very organized and better than fairly priced. I am still having reverse buyer's remorse for not picking up the Tension (Die Antwoord) Album. Kicking myself at this very moment actually and it's been almost 3 weeks since I've visited. Oh well and aaaaaaaaagh! But that's just it - this is one of those stores you WANT to go to because they remind you why you're not just picking things up online. Guestroom kinda scares me. Mostly because it's the kind of place I could drop $200 at and not flinch. They have a scary good selection of both new and old vinyl that spans decades. If one were so inclined, he or she could spend an entire afternoon perusing the vast selection of vinyl and still probably not see every album. I also LOVE the bargain vinyl section. There is something oddly satisfying about finding an album you like for only $2. The staff have always been courteous and helpful. When my friends are looking for some vinyl jams, I always recommend Guestroom because their selection of both national and locally known artists is the best in the city. read more

Very well stocked vinyl at reasonable prices, the store is well organized so it's easy to find the bands/genres you are looking for.

There's an old SNL sketch -- like, first couple of years of that show -- where John Belushi stars as The Man Who Wouldn't Leave. Visiting the home of some friends who are obviously trying to suggest that it's time to wrap up the party, Belushi orders pizza, or asks...."hey...do you have any records?" Horror movie screeching ensues. No such drama here, but for what it's worth Guestroom feels like one, kinda -- a guestroom, that is -- a little cluttered, filled with the haphazard color of someone else's quirk, and full of fascinating backstory. Of course, throw in scads of indie CDs, and it's easy to get lost in here. I popped in during a day when I had maybe fifteen minutes to shop and walked with two CDs. And I easily could have burned an entire afternoon. That's a guestroom that makes staying awhile a pleasure. No pizza required. read more

Been coming to Guest Room for a couple years now, and today was my first experience to try and sell some records. This will be the last time. I was greeted by the middle-aged guy behind the counter who was on the telephone with what sounded like his boss when he said, "I'm gonna shoot myself in the head, another guy with records just came in". Wow. I'm trying to sell you dirt-cheap inventory, and I don't even get a greeting. After the guy realized there wasn't much from my record collection to make fun of (a lot of Daft Punk LP's, M.I.A, flaming lips, shit that actually sells in a store), and remarking, "Wow, some of these are really good." The guy made the mistake of praising the records, then offering me $25 for 40 records. As soon as I declined his offer, the clerk ignored me and walked away from the register. Super cool bunch of guys. I could care less about how much he offered me, but treating me like a pain in his ass from the get-go was enough to lose my patronage for life. I have a 20-something daughter, so when we travel we have to hit the record store. Not only will she need to come home with a new vinyl, but she needs a sticker to slap on her turntable (aka record player). Prices are about average. Almost everything organized nice and tidy. They have used, new, vinyl, cd--it's a pretty good selection. Service was okay--kind of a free range thing unless you need help. Only downside is lack of parking. read more

It's the best we have. I still like buying CDs and I don't like buying online. Guestroom will order anything you want and have it there by Tuesday. They usually have what I want anyway. My ONLY complaint is they could be a little kinder to Funk and Jazz fans. I'd like to browse a little funk now and then. But they are nice and don't tell you you have bad taste in music even if you do. read more

I've read most of the reviews and can agree, that they are the "one stop shop" if you need vinyl. Old, new, popular, or indie, they will most likely have it. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star review is twofold. 1) I look mainly for audiophile quality used records which they have, but you really have to wade through a ton of records to find them. This isn't really a knock on them as maybe it is an indictment of what my needs are. 2) I don't really know how to describe their counter staff. They are not overly helpful, or friendly, or even seem to know you are there. But they also aren't the usual judgemental record store worker, smirking when you present "Frampton Comes Alive." Basically if you ask them a question, they are polite and will point you wherever you need to be, but don't expect a lot of conversation or expect them to come from behind the desk. read more

Customer service is superb!! They answered questions patiently. The shop is well organized and clean. I purchased some records as a gift and i had some ribbon and the woman working there took the time to help me wrap and tie ribbon around the records. Its moments like these that a business can really shine. 24 vintage industrial record LP and EPs (including 4 LPs in the $10 to $20 range) for just over $100! How could I not love this record store? The counter guy was awesome, and since I was shopping for records for a DJ set that I'd been commissioned to do by a client, I think I almost robbed the store. I came across this store when i received a record player for Christmas. When i found out that Guestroom Records carried indie vinyls i had to check it out. I was so excited when i went in for the first time. They have so many records and even cover paintings of popular records. One of my favorite things i have to admit is the kitty. I'm not sure if it's a boy or girl. But when i go in i'm sure to look for it. The little one will even jump up on the counter to thank you for checking out. Such a cutie. For nearly a year I lived directly behind the Western Ave location of Guestroom Recs, and made weekly visits into the store to peruse their 'new arrivals' section and often obliterate their cheap 7" bin. The store has many windows and lets a lot of sunlight into their large, open-floor area, complete with a listening station and place to rest your legs. The CD selection is unremarkable, and the LPs are in no order other than alphabetical, but if you have the three hours it takes to flip through their entire selection you are bound to walk away with a short stack of vinyl, many of which are priced at what could be considered a "score." Bonus: they have a well-manicured local section, right next to a shelf of music-related DVDs and literature. read more
