They have any book you could want. I came here for some nursing books and they have a whole section on student nurse books! Perfect! They also have a huge selection of cds! I really like that because I have an older car and I use my old cds often. Most of my cds are scratched from years of playing, so it's nice to know I can go here if one my favorite cd stops playing! They have a really nice selection of little toys and gadgets for anyone on your list. I saw some little figures of comic book characters and even some Mandalorian memorabilia too. We found the selection to be large in size walking in it may seem small but it's wide in size. The store is very clean and not cluttered so finding something was a breeze. I love this second hand book store they have everything from new releases brand new to vintage section of books. They even used to have records at one point. They also have a great variety of stationary and thank you notes. They aren't very expensive either! Every single year this is my go to spot for my yearly calendar seems like an odd place but they have the cutest options and best prices I've found! If you need a kids birthday gift also they have tons of offerings and not everything is used. The thing i probably like least about this place is the parking lot it's located at 63rd and May right next to the sprouts and the parking lot gets super congested I'm always so nervous parking i park closer to the dentist office and walk a few more steps! The store is organized if you're looking for something specific to find an associate they have a great search tool that they can find what you're looking for even if it isnt this location and offer shipping to your home. read more

This is a great place to shop for books. Unless they are a brand new "in" book. It's usually cheaper on Amazon. But most other books are cheaper here. They don't give you anything much for books you are selling, so you have to view it as a donation to declutter your home & give someone else a chance to get a book for cheap without the haste of selling on Amazon. It's a good charity that charges to keep their doors open. There are a lot of good, hard to find, and unusual books here. Dover books on Mathematics & Physics are cheaper on Amazon as well & are usually in better condition. read more

There is just something about holding a book in my hand that just makes my soul smile. I enjoy reading from my kindle, but I just love the feel of a book. I can wander around in a bookstore for hours. Half priced books is my favorite book store to visit. I love the wide selection and ever changing inventory. The employees are normally pretty cool and helpful when needed. The prices are totally perfect for a bargain girl like myself. If you get a calendar there are even more savings inside! If you are ever looking to de-clutter your life this is a perfect place to send your books off to another home. I am sure some of them end up on a book farm far away... Not just half priced but really cheap CDs books and 99 cent VHS. I'm so amped whenever I go into Half Price Books. It's just big enough to get lost in and I think there is quite a bit of variety. I've never used the book buyback program, but I haven't heard super great things about it. I usually go to get VHS, but sometimes I can't help but pick up a CD or 3 because honestly I find the prices very very very reasonable. The staff are all nice and seem like they genuinely want to help or carry on conversation. They have ample parking, although they were putting in a new store next to the bookstore before I left OKC so that may have stunted the parking. I've been in several Half Price bookstores and they are have some great finds. Oh! and records too. The have a lot of great Art books too. Howwwww have I never reviewed HPB?! And I must forget to check in a lot cause I don't think I'm the duchess. Whoops! I love HPB! It's always a personal war, shopping here or Full Circle. I love to support local, but I do not love paying full price for books sometimes (and can't always afford it). Plus, there is just something about used books that's so nostalgic. I don't ever feel dirty (that was a weird review. Ew). I've sold back several times and I don't expect to get a butt load for my books, which is why I just sell what I don't use or know I won't read again. Today I sold a book back for $4 that I spent $26 on at Full Circle. I mean, I can't hate that when I chose to pay full price for it lol. The employees are super helpful if you can't find a book. They'll either locate it in the store or find it online and another HPB. I do miss the size of the one in Dallas. It was like a super Walmart! This one is super tiny and doesn't get new inventory often. Or if they do, they don't move product fast enough to rotate inventory. They do get a decent new release selection and those are usually 20% off retail. All paperbacks are half off the publishers price, most $5. Oh they have a pretty large journal selection! read more

Yes, it's a chain. Shut up. It sells used books, so I'm a fan. Ok, so this location is pretty large, and pretty awesome. I typically don't buy books unless they cost less than $3.00, because I have an already overwhelming list of books to read that I own, that just sit here mocking me. But HPB makes it easy for me to add to that list, because their clearance section is all books for less than 3 bucks, and, while mostly Romance, there are a ton of classics, sci fi, and fantasy, as well as new literature releases that were insanely popular. So nearly everytime I go in, I think "Oh, I've been meaning to buy that... only a dollar? Ok!" and bring home a new book to mock myself with, The selection is shockingly good. They have a woman's studies section, a men's studies section, great stuff on sociology and pop culture, a small but decent manga and comic section, and a great sci-fi/fantasy section. Really, they've got more distinct sections than your average Barnes and Noble, generally stocked with good books since they're mostly things someone actually bought at one time (though there is also a wide variety of new books, which, whatever). On the few occasions when my husband or I do want a new book, we check here first, for the price. Also, the staff is super nice and helpful without being intrusive. read more

Went to the one in Edmond and got some cookbooks. Great place if you are looking to buy. BUT, fair warning, if you are looking to SELL books, vinyl records, cds: They will take any used books and give you an offer on them. Take it or leave it. And it will be something like this: Say you have 20 Fine Homebuilding books in excellent condition with an original cover price on each of say $20. So you originally paid $400 plus tax for them.You figure, I will save the hassle of selling them on ebay and just bring them here and get some cash. You bring them to the counter and while they sort through them, you wander around the store. Then they call you over the intercom saying your "offer" is ready. You go over to the counter and, with a smile, they say "ok we have your offer on the books ready, and it comes out to.... $15. Yep, you read that right. At which point there is a pause while they wait for you to either pass out, or grab the books and tell them to stick it. The markup they get on books they take in is incredible. And they don't have to pay shipping from a book distributor. You bring them in! For a book with a $20 cover price, they give you less than $1 for it, and then put it on their shelves with a price of $10. Cha chinggggg. My advice is, if you have lots of books, sort through them and cherry pick the ones you think might be able to sell on ebay fairly easily and at a much better price. The rest of the books, either take them here or donate them. Just be prepared when they give you their "offer." Maybe pull up a chair first in case the shock knocks you out. read more

This is a chain store and there are several in Oklahoma and Kansas. This particular one is good size and they have a large variety of books. Don't let the name fool you, it's more than just books. They have cds, & 0.99 VHS tapes for awesome prices. They also have a book buy back program. Of course they won't pay you anything close to retail but its a nice way to clear out your bookshelves of books you don't intend to read again. The main problem with this store is that you can kill a whole afternoon if you are not careful perusing the aisles. It's great fun! The staff has always been very kind and helpful. This location was pretty clean and tidy but the cashier was smiley and rude. I had just left the other location in search of first editions of this series I was interested in. I asked if they had any of the book I was looking for and he said no. I was bummed and he said, "I know, it's more expensive to get the new set." This place is a media hoarder's dream. The place is piled high with books, dvds, cds, records, and all manner of toys, games and bric a brac. This is one of those places that if you are looking for something... it is most likely here. Need a copy of "Who Moved My Cheese" and an Ugly Doll, and maybe a record of Frampton Comes Alive!? Then you are in the right place. There only issue here is the amount of stuff they have. This is a great place to hunt for hidden treasures and find items you did not know you needed, nor can you live without. I visited your store the other day with a large amount of books to sell back. The person I dealt with, Syawn, said he could only find just over half of the books I brought in. He claimed he couldn't find a listing for a lot of the books I brought in. I found that hard to believe, especially one book that was purchased about six months ago, new, from Barnes and Nobels, titled " On The Sunny Side". In fact, most of the books he claimed he couldn't find were purchased from Barnes and Nobels and Half Price Books within the last year! There was at least $50 to $60 worth of books that he "couldn't find". He offered to "take care" of the rest of the books for me that he rejected. What did he do with those books? Half Price Books doesn't give books away for free! I've been thinking about this, and am not happy with it. What I want to know is, do you train your people to take advantage of the elderly and handicapped and be untruthful? In my opinion, I was taken advantage of by Shawn. What did he do with those free books? In my opinion, he probably put a price on them and put them on the shelves being that his shelves behind him were empty. With this kind of treatment, it's doubtful if I want to do business with you all anymore. And at this point I am ready to let everyone I know what happened to me at your store. read more

I just took in a total of 30 books to sell, some brand new, some read once, and some I bought used. One was a set of 18 very popular books by one author. Some were hardback and some paperback. I was shocked to hear they would give me $8.50 total! That's $.28 cents per book! It surely wasn't worth the gas, and the effort carrying them into the store. I love all of the Half Price Bookstores. If I'm looking for an older classic or an author I've heard of but haven't read, I can usually find them here. They have a great children's section as well. My only two complaints is that they give you next to nothing for your books and also they are slowly getting rid of the clearance section which my mom loves. This is the best new and used book store in the city. Not just books! Dvds, vinyl, cds, magazines, collectibles... even tape cassettes! And all of these items, new and used, are priced dirt cheap! And you can sell all your books and music to them for cash! Wow. An alternative to the corporate monsters that outshines all of the competition. Super helpful and eclectic staff, complementary coffee, clean and organized. I love this place. read more

I have occasionally brought a single hardback RPG book here and gotten a good price for it. However, when I brought them a ton of paperbacks (and I mean AT LEAST 50 BOOKS) and a few hardback bestsellers, I was offered... $3. Do NOT bring your paperbacks here unless you want a downright insulting offer. I could have made more holding a yard sale. I was insulted at what a rip-off offering they tried to give me for my veritable mountain of books. This was like essentially saying, "We're not going to give you anything for about 40 of these, but we'd like to keep them anyway." If I didn't want money for my good-condition books, I would just give them to Goodwill. (Like I do with the ones which aren't in good condition.) read more

Yes, it is a bookstore, but I was ecstatic when I found an unopened copy of Takashi Miike's movie Audition for under $10. They have something for everyone here: books, movies, music and everything is cheap! They have sections for kids, cooks, linguists and politicians. This is a great place to buy gifts or to treat yourself. Since everything is so cheap, it is easy to get carried away but it is a great alternative to paying full price for books. read more

The place is clean, relatively organized, and has a somewhat decent selection. I know that the selection is highly dependent on what they receive from customers and perhaps the HPB warehouse, so I can't entirely fault them for what they do and do not have. My issue comes with the pricing. While there are *some* books available at a great price, I have found MANY that I could get for cheaper on Amazon. I have also come across books with a whopping discount of maybe 25 cents off the cover price. I also wound up buying a book that charged me MORE than the cover price. I didn't notice it until I was in my car...the front cover listed the price at 95 cents and I was charged $1 for it. I was not about to go back in over five cents, but I did email the company asking them about it. They explained that it's priced on what other copies are selling for. I responded saying I could understand that in general...but the other copies were newer editions and were more expensive by several dollars (nixing that explanation) and the original price was printed right on the front cover and they shouldn't be charging people more in those cases. Never got a response back. I also have noticed books at completely different prices even though it's the exact same title and the exact same edition. When I ask about it, I'm told to grab the one with the price I want because the others will ring up different. This is especially true if one book has a lower priced via price gun vs. a barcode price sticker. It's rather frustrating. I don't mind shopping here and have found some good deals. But I always, always check Amazon while here to make sure I actually am getting a decent deal. No sense in buying a used book for the same price I could pay on Amazon for a brand new book. read more

You do not have to accept their offer, but paying 10 cents on a DVD movie that sells for 10.00 and is still in the new wrapper? 10 cents on a paperback that they sell for 5.00?
