The positioning was a little awkward for me personally, but that has everything to do with my own build and the neck injuries I carry around, not anything on their end. Once you settle in, having your head massaged and washed with herbal treatments is genuinely relaxing. My hair felt noticeably soft by the end. I got a good laugh when the technician recommended option eight, which is listed as promoting hair growth. I figured she was just being diplomatic given what is happening up top, but then I found out she told Wifey the same thing. So either it is a standard recommendation or they are both very polite. The session runs about an hour and it is a fun experience, as you can see from the pictures. After that we moved into the foot massage, and for me that was the highlight of the whole visit. I will be honest, there were moments when the pressure hit some sensitive spots and I may have startled the technician a little. At one point I drifted off and twitched myself awake, which was probably more entertaining for her than for me. But I stayed present the rest of the time and genuinely enjoyed it. If your legs take a beating on a regular basis, this is the kind of relief that actually registers. The pricing is reasonable and the experience delivers. If you can only pick one, go with the foot massage. It felt great and I will definitely be back. We needed this. After a few chaotic days we took a day off and we treated ourselves, finished it off with some food and dessert, and just enjoyed the time together. Hair washing is already the most relaxing part of any haircut for me, so having a full hour dedicated just to scalp care felt incredibly indulgent in the best way. Finally tried them for the signature Head Spa last Tuesday and it was long overdue. They go by the hour so I went for the 11AM appointment. It was a little hard to find but look for the Monster studio/company and look to the left of it and you'll see their signage leading you to the basement. I'm very conscious of a place's cleanliness but despite this being at the basement, it was actually clean. Echo was the one assigned to me and she was amazing. I'm not new to Head Spa and/or massages because I love being pampered regularly and during my travels across the world but Echo has excellent massage technique especially when it came to my scalp, head, neck and shoulders. After all the steps, she did blow dry my hair. My hair was also so clean after and she showed me the end result, flawless and clean! Note it won't be as dry but you're welcome to dry it more. Where do I begin? First, there was absolutely no privacy when I was instructed to remove my shirt, which immediately made me uncomfortable. As a curvy young woman, I was also disappointed that there wasn't any support or pillow provided for the curve in my lower back, making the experience physically uncomfortable. A lowkey spa offering a $178 scalp spa package as well as a $48 scalp massage in the heart of Flushing has been trending all over social media recently, and I was pretty excited because I'm convinced my scalp was in terrible shape bc I'm pretty low maintenance. My friend and I arrived well before 6PM on a Thursday and they were preparing for a bigger influx of clients. They offer water and Wi-Fi right when you arrive. For the $178 package, you first get your scalp magnified - mine had some dryness but way better than I expected!! Then they bring you to a enclosed space and draw the divider closed so that you have an cosy dimly lit spa area where you have space to remove your top and shoes. They spend a lot of time washing and massaging your scalp - definitely an option for a tiny nap if it happens. Camilla helped me the whole time and I would HIGHLY recommend her - she is super sweet and kind and FIRM with the massage. You'll definitely enjoy the water and soothing atmosphere in the enclosed spa area. Once you dress back up, they bring you to have your scalp dried - note your hair is not getting dried, it's scalp focused. I then got to chose a scalp oil and they have electro current therapy and red light and oxygen therapy to administer to your scalp after. It's all very cool looking and they offer you tea as well. The area with the technology is right in the waiting room which is a bit awkward but right after you examine your scalp. Mine was definitely less dry and my hair felt sooo smooth after. What an interesting experience. Came in with the Groupon for "60 minute signature head spa treatment for 2 with massage on shoulders, back & scalp". I didn't realize how heavily it would lean into the head spa treatment part, so that was an experience I wasn't used to. My hair was probably lathered in some form of shampoo 3-4 separate times (you can choose what shampoo you want based on your hair type). So your hair is washed many, many times. At the end, your hair is blowdried and you're given a microscopic look at your scalp to see how clean it is, which was certainly not something I'd done before. The massage portion isn't so extensive, at most 1/3 of the total time and is again mostly scalp. Short period of arm/shoulder, certainly nothing on the back (fine). A few notes about the Groupon. While this is absolutely my fault, I didn't realize it could only be used M-Thurs and not on holidays, which they enforce (for example tried to do President's Day and could not). They also very much hold you to the expiration date of the Groupon, which is fair. Finally, the picture in the Groupon makes it seem like both people will be right next to each other in a private or semi-private room but we were in totally different rooms. They are an efficient business. You receive multiple confirmations, both email and text. We had a nice time getting our hair washed, paired with a nice massage. We decided to make a girl's day out of it. We made reservations online, showed up, and were put side by side in small areas divided by a curtain. Once we changed and the session began the curtains were opened so we could speak to one another. I chose the degreasing shampoo which was minty and still smells good a couple of days later. The head massage was similar to what I get when I go get my hair dyed so nothing special there. The shoulder massage was nice but way too quick. My favorite part was definitely the arm and hand massage. I keep all my tension in my hands so that felt great. After you're done, you change, and go to another area where they blowdry your hair (they do NOT style) and they run a camera across your scalp to show how clean it is. That was cool to see. However, during the scalp massage, i felt that it was aggressive as she was using her nails during the whole head spa treatment. Overall, it felt like vigorous scrubbing and it did not feel relaxing like the last time. I had asked her to be more gentle but it didn't make much difference. I was kinda sad the hour was up lol please keep in mind, once they are done with your hair done THEY DO NOT STYLE YOUR HAIR. This is a must try at least once in the warm weather. They clean your scalp with perfection. Try this if you are comfortable to lay down for about 50 minutes while your hair is being washed with water the whole time. It is not much massaging but more of lathering your hair with treatments. I think what they could've done differently is check my scalp first to see how dirty it was. I came in and they laid me down right away. How would I know if my scalp was dirty in the first place? But overall, still great experience. My favorite was when she used the sprinkler water over my scalp. That was worth the trip! They blow dry your hair and it feels super soft from the blow dry. My hair was bouncy. I was walking on clouds after I was done. There was another scalp treatment around that area you'll see if you walk around. My friends and I did the B Steam Scalp Treatment which is 60 minutes for $68 and includes a deep cleanse with tea tree oil based shampoo (very refreshing), light neck/upper back/shoulder massage (very relaxing), hair steaming session to absorb the hair products which you choose from a list of treatments that you see fit. In between, they use several head massaging tools that feel amazing. I wished the treatment was longer haha! Lastly, they blowdry your hair with Dyson, conduct a scalp inspection and apply a nice hair oil. I did the treatment before going on my desert trip to Death Valley National Park and it was very worth it! It kept my hair smooth even in the dry atmosphere. For an additional $10, you can add a herbal soup bath which they get from these tea dispensers in the lobby.
