Disappointed on several fronts…read more We purchased an overpriced ($1880) Bertch bathroom vanity cabinet. The unit arrived with several significant manufacturing defects. I was told that a replacement unit would take at least six weeks to arrive. Not choosing to wait I repaired the defects and had to negotiate a partial refund directly with the manufacturer. Lesson learned: Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's well made. On two occasions I picked up multiple products at the loading dock. After an exhaustive one-by-one check I found that several items on the delivery ticket were not in fact provided. Lesson learned: Check everything carefully or you will make multiple trips back to the store. Most disappointing, we purchased an undermount sink for the vanity top. After a lengthy discussion with the sales rep. regarding the exact size we wanted, the sink was delivered to us and we sent it to the granite fabricator. When the countertop was delivered and the sink installed, we learned that the sink was smaller than the unit we discussed and selected. We had to purchase a new sink and fabricate a second countertop for $870. Plimpton accepted zero responsibility for the error and would not even refund the $151 for the incorrect unused sink because we did not have the original packaging. (This is after spending more than $12,000 on bathroom fixtures.) Lesson learned: Do not trust that what you communicated and selected will be accurately ordered and delivered. Check everything carefully. We will not use Plimpton for our remaining fixtures, and for the reasons above we do not recommend them to prospective customers.

I have noticed that there are items that are also readily available in TJ Maxx or Marshalls (like RBX leggings), and even some H&M, which is a bit disappointing when the store claims to be "Fine Consignment."

The shop/studio itself is absolutely beautiful with a newly remodeled alteration section complete with immaculate herringbone floors that you can eat off of, a wet bar, and coffee/espresso. You go in feeling like the only person in the store. Pinning a gown doesn't take long, it's completely painless. The service itself is incredible. I walk in and they know me by name, the employees are very nice and accommodating. I've had 3 gowns tailored here to perfection and had a custom Italian suit (which they sell in the shop) tailored to perfection. When investing in a special gown, you should also invest in a perfect tailoring job. The 1st thing I notice when at a wedding is a dress that could've been perfect, if only the tailoring was taken more seriously. Everything from reupholstery to commissioning of brand new furniture, pillows, slipcovers...you name it. When I say every single piece of work has been flawless, I'm not exaggerating. Rachel delivers her work on time, at remarkable value, and is capable of virtually anything you can dream up. A recent example: we have a beautiful George Nakashima table and have always admired the leg support construction. We asked Rachel to build an art gallery-style bench with the same type of support. She simply looked at the table when she was here and, a few weeks later, delivered a stunning Nakashima style bench with exquisite black walnut legs. If I pointed to this bench and told you it was Nakashima, you would believe it.
