I loved it! My friends met me at Heuston Station and marched me right over to the Guinness Storehouse, where I checked in my suitcase (the coat check people didn't bat an eyelash, which might be because they are accustomed to such things, or maybe because they are just Irish and expect the unexpected). The tour was really interesting, though I must say I found the secondary tour (my local and well-informed friend/tour guide) added a lot to the basic information posted. We stopped in at the Guinness Academy and poured our own pints, where my friend gave a much clearer accounting of how to pour than the poor girl from (Slovenia?) who was assigned to teach the mini-class, and obviously we then took our pints up to the Gravity Bar to drink them while surveying the view of Dublin from up high. It's not really a big city, you know... you can see the edges in every direction and it's just farmland out there. Beautiful! But farmland. Not city. I later took the train through that farmland all the way to Cork, so I know it really does go on and on. We had an interesting moment when my friend asked someone standing nearby to please take a picture of our group, but the dude mistook us for fans (!) and got into the picture with us, and then gave us free tickets to his gig. We just went along with it and then rushed to the other side of the observation area to burst out laughing together... moments to remember ;) read more

So, this was our first touristy thing to do in Ireland. We had landed at 5 am and took a hop on/hop off bus tour of Dublin. Guinness Storehouse was one of the stops. We entered at 10:30am and wandered around for 2 sleep deprived hours enjoying every minute. It was a Saturday, so it was a bit crowded. But not unbearable. We enjoyed the Gravity Bar, gazing out at every aspect of Dublin while drinking our "free" pint-very cool. The section with all the advertisements was really interesting, especially the bike-riding fish. Look for the Arrol Suite on the 2nd floor. They give out samples of beer from the Open Gate Brewery at certain times of the day. We were also treated to some entertainment. The employees are very friendly and didn't mind helping me check my sample into the correct location on UNTAPPED. A must see when you're in Dublin. And, by the way, the Guinness DOES taste better there. read more

Definitely one of the best tours I've ever been on. Everything -- from the giant pint-glass atrium that spans 6 stories inside the Guinness Storehouse, to the well-stocked store full of stylish merchandise, to the interesting and interactive self-guided tour -- was spot on! Not only did you get a taste of Guinness stout on the 3rd or 4th floor, but your ticket gets you a full pint in the Gravity Bar, which has an amazing 360 degree view of Dublin. You can see all the way to Phoenix Park in one direction to Dublin Bay in the other! I went here by myself, but found people to chat with behind the counter at various bars and in the store, and found myself called upon to take many photos of other tourists. I enjoyed myself quite a bit. I did read in some reviews that you don't see anything of the actual brewery - which is true - but you get a good basis in the science of brewing and the ingredients that go into Guinness beer. I've been on other brewery tours, such as the Anheuser Busch tour, and standing in the brewery itself is kind of dull unless you're really excited by stories-high, cold, silent silos full of resting beer. You can't get in on the real action unless you wear the full clean suit, and that's not the typical tourist get up, you know? read more

It's a very informative self guided tour with a lot of impressive visual displays. You end the tour with a pint of Guinness (complete with clover etched into the foam) to be enjoyed in their Gravity Bar with an awesome view of the city. Visiting Dublin for the first time and just had to get a tour of the Guinness Storehouse. Beautiful on the inside with lots of glass fixtures. It was a self guided your with videos. The place is huge with multiple floors, so it was somewhat confusing where to go to next. We tried our best to see everything and were most impressed by the exhibit with Guinness ads from the past and present, the wall of celebrity visitors to Guinness including the Queen of England and the President of the United States, the why I love Guinness message wall, and the hand carved Guinness statue. There's a complimentary pint with the tour price that you can get either in the Guinness academy where they teach you how to pour your own pint and give you a certificate in the end or the Gravity bar. The Gravity bar awesome! One of the highest points in the city it had amazing panoramic views of Dublin with hints on the windows of what major landmarks you could see from that vantage point. The service was exceptional. The bartenders were very friendly and even put a Shamrock on our pints! They announced birtdhays and made jokes over the bar's intercom making it feel like we were in any other Irish pub. All in all a great experience that I would highly reccommend. read more

When we arrived, it was a seven floor building and each floor is a step in the process of how they make the beer. Well, it ends up being similar to a museum. It's great! As a tourist attraction, this is decent way to spend an afternoon in Dublin, but maybe not for the reasons you think. Don't be deceived by its title - the Guinness Storehouse - it's really a museum. A huge building, it's a serious museum dedicated to telling you everything there is to know about Guinness - how it's made, the story of the founder, the history of the brand's advertising and a lot more. This is all pretty interesting, but I'd have been much more interested to see real Guinness being made. There's a lot of videos and multimedia type exhibits. The best reason to go to the Guinness Storehouse is it's actually a fun place to sit around and drink a pint with your friends, or meet other travelers. There are multiple places to do this, but the most spectacular place is the Gravity Bar at the very top (of the pretty high building) with its 360 degree glass window views of Dublin. Go as late as possible for nice late-in-the-day light. You get a "free" pint with your 15 euro ticket, and you can also buy more if you're inclined to hang around a little (though you have to go back down to the 5th floor to do this!). All in all, a pretty fun place, but I had more fun sitting around the bar with my travel companions than actually going through the museum. read more

Holy f'ing crap. I still can't believe this place exists in the form it does. It is the Willy Wonka factory of beers. TRULY. The tour is high-tech, the garb in the gift shop is tacky and tempting, there are two opportunities to drink beer, and the propaganda machine is in full effect. The information is actually really interesting and well-presented. Anyone can enjoy it. Count the number of digital SLRs you see as you walk around. The view from the top is indeed a view, reminding you that Dublin is an industrial city and not a super pretty one. If you're into that (and I am), it's perfect to relax in the Gravity Bar and soak it all in. The whole ordeal is run really smoothly and there are Guinness personnel all over the place if you have any questions or need any help. Really well done and cool to see. read more

This place is a bucket list item for any beer lover. The iconic brew has a lot of history and the St. James Gate Storehouse is an icon. With that said, I was disappointed with the tour. The majority of it is filled with electronic displays (electronic grain, seriously) and automated audio/video. You can definitely learn about the history of Guinness but the entire thing felt like a giant Disneyland attraction. The highlight for me was easily the Gravity Bar on the 7th floor. The view is spectacular and I've never had a better pint of Guinness. It's probably a mental thing, but it was fantastic. It's all well kept and worth a stop, but it could be so much more. I have heard that major renovations are planned in the future, so I'll check it out again next time I'm in Dublin. read more

Being a beer fan, this was one of those touristy things I had to check off the list while spending some time in Dublin. In honesty, I didn't realize just how massive the Guinness brewery compound was, and the storehouse was definitely the epicenter of it all. (As a quick tip, try to purchase your tickets online before hand because you will save yourself a lot of time avoiding long lines at the ticket counters). Once inside, the storehouse isn't so much a traditional brewery tour like I was used to here. It is more of a self guided tour through this massive multi-floored building. Besides learning the basics behind how Guinness is brewed, you also learn some interesting facts about the history and the Guinness family. The 3 main highlights for me on the tour were: 1- Learning how to properly taste a Guinness, 2 - Being able to master the pouring of a perfect pint, 3 - Then enjoying my pint while taking in the beautiful views of Dublin & the surrounding area from the Gravity Bar. Overall it was one of those places I'm glad I got to see and experience and officially check off my list. read more

The museum and tour are very well put together. Lots of history about the company as you walk through a massive open space on multiple levels. You get to try multiple types of Guinness during the tour. With the beer samples you get snacks like smoked salmon on pumpernickel bread. The finale is Gravity Bar, which is a glass-floored cylinder high above the brewery looking over the Dublin skyline. You get at least one pint of Guinness here for free. Overall, a crowded but well-done museum with samples and snacks. Even though it is not worth it for the beer alone, the whole experience I thought wasn't cheesy and the space is impressive. Admission fee I remember was pretty high, but it's a neat experience. So for a craft beer place, yeah low score. But it's a fun thing to do in the afternoon and then later you can Temple Bar District it up. read more

I m not a huge fan of Guinness Storehouse as such but boy does Guinness know how to market their stuff. Their gift shop has everything possible you can imagine. They even make custom Guinness glasses for you on demand. The factory tour is O-K... I recommend going to Jameson instead. The beer at the roof top gravity beer is awesome but you can't buy another one or request more than one glass...(which really sucks and kills your vibe) Many of the tourist buses stop in front of the factory so this place is conveniently located for sure. read more

The staff here is so nice, they have a place for you to store bags if that's a concern of yours! They have local beers that are great. Take the tour to try samples of the beer free! This place has a little something for everyone. Highly recommend. No lines or anything just be ready to rub shoulders with some strangers quite a bit. I would maybe suggest going at a time that's less busy, we went at 4 and the place was poppin. Good atmosphere, great music, best beer. Check out the gravity bar- the views are unbeatable, but again, it was packed & people will for sure photo bomb you. On an unrelated note, the photo-booth can only be done with one person, which I think, is incredibly inconvenient. The best 'tourist trap' in Dublin. The museum is huge and you'll be surprised how long it actually takes to see the whole place (if you actually stop and see the displays). The good thing is that you get a pint of Guinness at the end of the visit, the bad thing is that you have to wait till the very end, and climbed to the very top level of the building to get it. The highlight of the tour to the Guinness Storehouse for me was, unquestionably the Gravity Bar. The seventh floor of the storehouse is dedicated to the Gravity Bar, and also forms the head of the giant pint of Guinness formed by the atrium. Therefore, upon admission you have finally reached the head of the pint. It is at this point that you will receive your complimentary pint of Guinness. Not only is this the most sustaining and authentic pint of Guinness you will drink anywhere in the world but the setting to which you are drinking it is truly stunning. I adore the layout of the Gravity Bar with uninterrupted 360 panoramic views across the city of Dublin courtesy of the lustrous glass walls and a spherical bar to be found in the middle of the room that you can sit around. Alternatively you can choose to sit round one of the other tables dotted about. Now, admittedly, Dublin is hardly blessed with the most spectacular of skylines and there is certainly a lot of rampant construction to be glimpsed, but ultimately it is the magnitude of the view and all of the historical value existent in the buildings you're seeing that does nothing but astonish. My favourite part of the bar is the sporadic quotations that appear on the glass courtesy of renowned Irish poets and authors. All of the quotations are positioned in accordance with the location of the landmark it is referring to. For example, if you look at the James Joyce's quote from A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man that appears on the window, 'The grey block of Trinity on his left, set heavily, In the city's ignorance like a great dull stone set, In a cumbrous ring...' directly behind it is Trinity College itself, the Front Arch of which protrudes grandly from the wide cityscape. I love this union of arguably Dublin's greatest achievements - Guinness and modernist literature all working within the relaxing milieu of yet another Dublin phenomenon -the 'bar' to successfully pull off an altogether great experience. Just reminding myself of it makes me want to go back right away. read more

Definitely on every tourist's to-do list in Dublin; it's also cool that you can take the HopOn/HopOff buses that'll give you a brief pleasant tour of some city landmarks before dropping you off right at the Guinness museum. Minus the hefty entry, and the exorbitant amount of foot traffic and everyone using the elevator, this place is still AWESOME. They have a lot of informational stuff about how Guinness originated and developed, there's a tasting room, and an escalator system and 2 elevators that connect all 7 floors. The best part is the Gravity Bar all the way at the top - you get a 360 view of the entire city, and get to use your ticket to get a free Guinness at the bar. It's usually packed here, but you can find a spot after waiting a few minutes. *There's also a horse carriage service at the exit read more

Self-guided tour? Perfect! I've been here 4 or 5 times in the year I've been in Dublin and while yes, it is a major tourist attraction (if not the most famous one in Dublin) it is still worth it to go even if you're a Dubliner. I took a girlfriend from Ireland who had never had Guinness before and even she enjoyed it so there you go. I'm a diagnosed beer geek so I had to come here. This isn't your normal brewery tour if you've ever gone to a microbrewery, but extremely high tech and huge (like Guinness' footprint on Earth). The best part is pouring your own pint/getting a Guinness up in the Gravity Bar overlooking the city. If you can I would recommend coming on Dublin Culture Night when it's open late (and FREE!!!). Seeing Dublin with its lights on at night is a whole new experience for the Gravity Bar and one that I'll never forget, no matter how tacky it feels to come here. read more

It's hard to admit that this place was so great because of how clearly tourist-driven the entire operation is. But like a fun album or TV show, it's great because it's entertaining, and in my case, caters to the part of me that absolutely loves Guinness. And I do, absolutely love Guinness. The entire Storehouse was basically a gift shop underneath a cafe underneath an observation deck. And dammit it was cool! I can easily see a four-start review because it didn't really leave me with any more knowledge than I already knew about the brewing process. I think they tried to shy away from the process, and focus on the brand that Guinness has built. They "lifestyle", that it carries with it, if you will. The Storehouse kind of picks up with the assumption that Guinness is fantastic and you're already on board. It doesn't so much try to win you over as much as affirm that it's rightfully earned its place among the bar taps of the world. I'm cool with that. We had nice weather for the gravity bar, we learned how to pour beer which was neat and the people were all super friendly and nice. The place seemed clean too, the restaurant was very well priced for the quality of food. I really liked this place. Also, there's a small tasting where they ask you not to drink it. And another pro tip: there's free wifi in the building, so if you forget about purchasing tickets online when you were at your hotel or wherever, you can hop on their wifi right outside the building and buy it there! I'm a huge Guinness fan, so perhaps I'm already slightly biased with my 5* rating, but the tour itself I honestly couldn't fault. Its a self guided tour - take as long or as little time as you need. We spent the weekend here for a friends hen do that unfortunately clashed with a Bruce Springsteen concert, so an extra 160,000 people flooded into the city! The Irish do love Bruce! As a result the traffic was even worse than it normally is in the heart of Dublin, but it was well worth it! The line to buy tickets on the day was pretty long, so i'd say buy them in advance, either online or in conjunction with other offers....many of the open top bus tours can also sell you tickets for €20 (€16 with a valid student card) and you get a free pint with this ticket :) On the tour there's a lot of info about the making of Guinness, the history of the brewery and about Arthur Guinness himself.....*spoiler alert*..... Mrs Guinness had 21 children! TWENTY ONE!! They also have a tasting room where they teach you how to drink Guinness, and it was certainly more enjoyable once they'd explained to me how I should have been drinking it all these years! There was a 'pull your own pint' demonstration where staff chose a person to demonstrate the art of pump control. This area was stupidly left un-manned for about 20 minutes, so a good 15 of us helped ourselves! There are 5 bars/cafes round the tour so you can stop for a drink or bite to eat, but if you have energy left after touring round, I cannot recommend the top floor bar highly enough. It sits right at the top of the storehouse and boasts views all over Dublin, topping of our visit nicely! read more

The tour was not organized in a very clean manner. It felt like a free for all. Not a personal experience just seemed to be herding through the people. The view from the top was great because it wasn't cloudy at all. The best view we saw of the city. We were there on a Sunday and it was still packed. Very touristy. Not sure how they would improve it too much to support that many visitors. Fun / Cost: (3.75/5) I came here my my traveling companion last week as our first sightseeing stop in Dublin. I was immediately struck by a strong smell, which I later learned was the hops used to brew the beer -- it envelopes the entire block. I got the student admission (11 euros) by showing my university ID card and started the self-guided tour on the first of 7th floors. There is a free, optional audio guide for those that want it, but there are plenty of informational signs for those who want to skip the line to borrow the audio device. Basically, the Storehouse is a glorified museum where you learn about Guinness's creator, history, advertisements, and the brewing process. One of my favorite parts was tasting their roasted barley. Be warned, however, that you don't actually see the real production of beer; you only see videos and pictures of it. The best part of our visit came at the end, when we reached the Gravity Bar at the top of the Storehouse, and saw the view of Dublin that stretched out below us. I think its the best view of Dublin that you can get, weather permitting. I'm no beer connoisseur, but I hear that the beer here is the best you can get, particularly because the water used to make it is different than the water we use in the US. I'm giving the Storehouse a 3 star (A-OK) rating, with a slight boost because of the view, the huge gift shop with all things Guinness, and the free beer you receive. Location: (3/5) I was not a fan of Guinness's surrounding area. It's on the outskirts of town (makes sense though; the primary mission of Guinness is to be a brewery and you don't usually have breweries in the middle of town) and the area looks and feels a bit seedy. Overall: (3.5/5) Despite my personal lack of interest in beer, I would still dutifully recommend a visit to this brewery. There are no if, ands, or buts about it. Simply put, its an iconic attraction of Dublin, if not all of Ireland. If you visit Ireland without visiting Guinness Storehouse, you'll encounter incredulous looks on your arrival home and face possible ostracism by your beer-loving friends. And if you're still not convinced, at least remember that you'll be rewarded by a great view of all of Dublin at the end of your self-guided tour. read more

Plus you get purchase sweet stuff they dont sell in the US, If I remember correctly they dont sell the foreign exchange in the US and we bought a ton to bring home! Commercialized. Pricey. Disappointed. Busy/Crowded. But at the same time... it's the Guinness factory. So if you're visiting (like me from the USA)... and you have an inkling to visit... just do it. You didn't fly all the way out there just to say "meh, maybe next time". If you can "take it or leave it", then leaving it is fine. But go in knowing it's commercialized and the following: 1. it's a self guided tour, with videos and and plaques to read. Nothing in-depth. 2. it gets crazy crowded, so go early to avoid the crowds. 3. you don't get a tour of the working brewery... it's more like a Guinness museum. 4. the Gravity bar has great views, but go early b/c it does get crazy crowded so you may not see those great views if you go too late. Things I did like about it was the floor about their advertisements through history and learning to pour your own pint and... it's not that hard but it's interesting to hear them talk about it... at least the guy talking to our group that day was enthusiastic and explained the spout. Plus it's something different. If I wanted someone to pour me a pint, I can just go to the local pub and pay 5euros or less. Big question... does it taste different? :) hahah... i don't drink Guinness that often, but the only difference I could tell was the texture... flavor-wise, it's the same to me... texture-wise, it was less bubbly (i.e more flat) and not as heavy (it was still rich and creamy, but not has heavy... if that makes any sense). The Guinness Storehouse in located not to far from where I live, so it was inevitable I would wind up here, struggling to breath as I wait in line for entry and wondering when I could finally sit down and consume a pint of the black stuff! If you are thinking of going here, forget about arriving on the spot and waiting for entry. Book online and skip the queue, while they throw filthy daggers at you! I did this and was massively happy that I had avoided being crushed up against sweating tourists. When you enter the actual Storehouse, are can see quite a number of tourists milling about the conveniently located gift shop to your left. You can then wait for a tour guide, which I did, and he gives you an extremely brief explanation as who Arthur Guinness was etc. etc. Best part of the tour? Seeing the actual lease Arthur Guinness signed, the worse part of tour was to follow. Can you say it was awful - no not really. It was just that, as soon as we reached the section where you wind upward through the different processing areas, the guide vanished. To this day I'm not sure whether he was an illusion from the fumes, or whether he decided to go for lunch, but in any case, without context - aside from the weird videos and small explanations on plaques - every level blurred into the next. I was pretty excited to learn about the Guinness coopers though, and I think more time could have been spent on them, instead of several levels on how Guinness is actually made. Then only really jarring part of the whole tour was a new section which showed actors dressed as ye olde men and women, explaining how they were positively affected by the Guinness Storehouse. This was all fine and dandy (if you like your propaganda) except that the movement detection devices which activated the voices, were going off all over the place and you couldn't hear a word. If you go on the tour, avoid this section at all costs, less you want to be assailed by fake Dublin accents. I can't help but think this would be a far better tour if it included an actual tour of the old Storehouses, with maybe a little bit on the architecture. It seems like a real wasted opportunity, but if you genuinely feel the desire to know how it's made, then you're in the right spot. Enjoy! read more

I just don't get it. I've been twice with friends who were visiting and felt this was a "must see". It's not overly expensive to get in which is a mercy, but really there is so little of interest for a local that I would never recommend it to a native. The gravity bar is pretty cool, but I am not a Guinness drinker so my companion has always gotten the best of the visits. I do enjoy the views from the bar, but to be honest it really is one for the tourists only. read more
