If you're visiting Dublin, the Guinness Storehouse is a must-see--especially if you book the Connoisseur Experience. I will say at the top that, as of 2015, Guinness no longer uses isinglass, so this is suitable for vegans! We opted for the Connoisseur tour and it was outstanding. The experience begins with a private guided tasting lasting about 45 minutes with a small group (ours was around 15 people). During the session, we sampled four different Guinness beers while learning about how each is brewed and what distinguishes one from another. The pours are generous--not tiny tasting samples but almost a half pint each. One of the highlights was learning how to properly pull a Guinness from the tap. After the demonstration, two people at a time are invited behind the bar to pour their own pint, which you can then carry with you as you explore the rest of the Storehouse. And there is a lot to explore. The museum spans about five full floors of exhibits, interactive displays, and films covering everything from the brewing process to the brand's history and cultural impact. It's immersive and beautifully designed--far more engaging than a typical "factory tour." There are also several restaurants and places to sit down for a meal, and the food we had was excellent. At the very top is the famous Gravity Bar, where the reward is a stunning 360-degree view of Dublin while you enjoy another pint (complimentary if you took the Connoisseur tour). We ended up spending nearly five hours there without feeling rushed. The marketing floor was really cool and gives you a glimpse into all the famed ads from history for Guinness, plus you get the actual models of the mascots from the most famed of ads and commercials! On the 4th floor, we spent time in the Stoutie experience, where you can get your photo printed on the foam of your Guinness! Such a cool experience, worth the add-on price per pint. Also, the bar and area here was a chill vibe with gorgeous views to look at when you weren't looking at yourself in foam form! The 7th floor was the Gravity Bar - A phenomenal and impressive space outfitted with a few large bars and panoramic views of Dublin. This is where you cash in your token for a free Guinness! It is wildly busy here, so be prepared to be elbow to elbow, but it is also quite transient, so people are in and out fairly quickly. A few things before heading down to the Storehouse...Buy your tickets ahead of time! While they allow walk-ins, tickets are rarely available on the spot. You have been warned! And the tour is self-guided...meaning you can experience as much or as little as you would like. But don't skip out on any floors or experiences! Such a cool self-guided tour! The first floor has of course the gift shop but then you steadily go up seven stories, learning about the very precise process of making Guinness and the history behind this loved beer. It's sensory and quite magical with the very cool displays. There are a lot of picture worthy spots as well. You have the opportunity to learn how to correctly drink Guinness - yes there's a right and wrong way. And you get a hefty shot size to do it with! You could easily spend 2-3 hours there, depends how much you like to read and hang out. The top is their cloud bar where you get a tall pint of Guinness - there's a stout and a lighter beer and my mom loved the lighter beer and she usually doesn't like Guinness. Obviously a must do in Dublin. We purchased tickets online and they were flexible with the timing as we were running a little late. The tour itself is self guided and was interesting. We stopped to put our picture on a pint which you can book before hand which I recommend because they gave us a little bit of a hard time because we did not prebook. However, the pictures did come out so cool and would highly recommend for 8 euros. Once you get to the top, there is a nice view and a drink is included in your ticket price. read more

Torn on how to rate this. You're in Dublin so you should go, but if you're short on time there's an attached bar with pub fare, experimental brews, and the regular thing that combined with St. James gate is probably for the best. If you do go purchase tickets in advance, get the option with gravity bar which includes a free brew at the top floor with scenic views. Timed entry keeps crowds manageable. Try earlier in the week to avoid hectic crowds. I have a much greater appreciation for the craftsmanship and science that goes into it. A visit here was not high on my to do list while in Dublin but my mom wanted to go so I was happy to take her. She loved it. I do think the way that everything is presented is very well done and attention grabbing so if that's your thing and/or you are a huge Guinness fan you'll probably enjoy it. For me, it was extremely overstimulating and it felt very marketing driven so it was not my jam. The view from the top is admittedly great and we did manage to grab a table as folks were leaving so it was nice to sit and relax and take it all in for a bit. It is very crowded so patience is important. You may be in for standing room only. After we finished our beers we shopped a little before leaving and took home a couple gifts for family. They do have something for pretty much everyone and I'm glad I picked up a souvenir. Would I go again? No. Am I glad I went once with my mom, definitely. read more

Of course, when coming to Dublin you have to visit Guinness!! There are several different levels of tickets you can buy, but we opted for the more base level ticket which gets you into the Storehouse and a beer at the roof top! You do have to reservce a time in advance, but they are flexible with arrival times. The ticket we bought was a self paced tour, which included a tasting experience as well as a full beer on the top floor bar! When you enter are your booked time, they do a quick orientation and you are set free! The building is huge, i believe 6 floors of all history of Guinness and fun experiences. You can make your way though each level following the suggest routes marked on the flooring and signage. You stop on level 3 or 4 for a tasting exprerience and at the very end, you finish in the top floor. This level has an amazing view of the city and you can enjoy a fresh pint of Guinness! At the end you can stop by the store, which of course i had to get a few things! I got a glass and opted for the upsell of the engraving of my name on the side. Super cool! Fun atmosphere! On a Saturday afternoon it was packed. This was the last stop on our walking tour and our guide took us straight to the 7th floor for a pint. The views are great, but it was crowded and hot. The pint was much better than what we have in the States. We took our beer to the 5th floor and enjoyed a quiet, cooler atmosphere. A fascinating look at the history of Guinness that includes five floors of exhibits that includes a tasting room and a pint on the seventh floor that overlooks the entire city. The building is the tallest in the city and I believe all of Ireland. It is a tad bit of walking, but you mostly take escalators to get to each floor. The basic tour admission is self guided which will take you 90 minutes to two hours depending on you and your party. There is a large merch store on the first floor. I did the self guided tour which was roughly $22 USD. I did the first tour at 9:30. That was a nice tip as it wasn't busy. After a quick intro, you are able to explore. It was cute with some interesting facts but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. At the end, you can go up to the Gravity Bar and get your pint. You get a nice 360 view of the city. Because of the early self guided tour, we enjoyed having the Gravity Bar mostly to ourselves. It was a decent experience. The Guinness Storehouse is an incredibly popular experience. We showed up on our first day and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation. We were told that you have to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. Ugh ... gut punch. Luckily, we returned to Dublin at the end of our week and made this a priority. The "tour" starts with an introduction and then you are sent to explore room by room on your own. There are tons of high tech videos and displays about the history and making of Guinness. I thought the video of their marketing and advertising campaigns was particularly fun. You then get lead into a room where they have little miniature pours for everyone. She talks for while and then you taste. Slainte! At the end of the experience you can go to Gravity Bar at the very top. It's two rooms with bars where you get to order a pint. This space was hopping! Packed! Slammed! We lucked out and got a table to sit a bit and enjoy. I loved walking all the way around the two rooms. This place is huge and it has a lot of history about Guinness but it felt more like a museum than a storehouse if that makes sense? They have interactive things so you can see how the beer is made, how it's kept, they give you a tiny tasting and tell you exactly how it should be drank and you go floor by floor learning about the different ingredients used until you get to the rooftop bar where you can get a pint for your ticket. And I needed a beer. What's great for tourists, Guinness Storehouse has a luggage storage area for free, so all visitors can bring their carry-on and luggage here while touring the storehouse. Perfect! After checking in my carry-on and backpack, I went on the tour, which consisted of multiple levels of interactive exhibits, explaining background, history and the making of Guinness. Although the place was busy with tourists, the space is huge, so it never felt crowded. Until you go to the gravity bar, which is located at the very top of the storehouse and is the observation deck area. It was super packed during my visit, so unfortunately, I never was able to snag a seat. But I still enjoyed my pints of Guinness, which came with the entry ticket. It's a cool experience in Dublin and compared to other breweries I've visited in other countries, the Guinness Storehouse is definitely way more fun. The exhibits are interactive, the staff are friendly, there are eateries on the upper levels and the gift store has lots to choose from for loved ones. Everything at Guinness is at your own pace, so just show up for your tour time and then you were on your own. Pro tip! Book. Your. Tour. The Guineas Storehouse is an exaggeration of their production largely through large screen videos and very old displays. The point of the tour isn't really about brewing because nothing is demonstrated about today's practices or how they brew around the world. You go for the beer. However, warning do not take the horse drawn carriages without a clear price agreement. We were to 50 and when we got off it was 100 for two. We have read numerous reviews on the carriage scam. Honestly, Guinness creates the carriage attraction and for all its influence shown step in and stop the scam. Their reputation is being tarnished. read more

This experience was everything I hope for and more!! I had signed up for the self guided tour that had the learn how to pour a Guinness experience, and it was fantastic!! I loved being able to go at my own speed and really check the things out that I wanted to. I also got to do the get your picture printed on the foam, and that was also so fun. We ate at one of the restaurants inside the storehouse and the food was so good. I am still thinking about the mussels I had. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They also had live music in one of the rooms, so I got to sit for a while and listen and watch some step dancing, which was very cool. Very cool place to understand the story behind Guinness. I might, perchance, opt for a longer and more private experience than the standard the next time I go. It did feel like a lot of fluff before getting to the final destination, but the fluff was well curated. Views at the top of the storehouse are beautiful, if you can snag a seat in a great location. Our lunch was really good and exploring was a lot of fun. There's a huge shop, a walkthrough exhibit that is very well done and several floors. There's also a baron the top floor with amazing 360-degree views of Dublin and of course food We noticed there are some abandoned buildings next the Guinness that we assume is maybe their original location. We got the basic package that's a self walk through with a complimentary drink at the end. Heard from friends that it was sold out. The seven floor storehouse is incredible. They breakdown how the Guinness is made, to the marketing, to the history all ending with a glass of Guinness at the rooftop Gravity Bar that gets you great views of Dublin!
