Some of these negative comments have to be some hard people that you have to deal with. I've bought so much stuff from here at the tunnel rd. specifically and always had awesome experience with all the staff. Some people come to these stores and they expect Chick-fil-A type of customer service. Grow a pair and learn that this is the music industry not the fast food. read more

The most recent experiences are by far the most indescribable and, worst, I believe any customer should need to go through. I'll try to keep it short. #1. I was interested in an Ibanez AZ, and the store did not have the model in stock. The manager said to order it, and I could return it if I did not like it. Out of the box, it was nice and sounded great but just did not meet the tone I was searching for at the time. I returned the guitar. When I arrived home, I received an email from the manager offering to finance it for 48 months even though it was not included in the current promotion if I would come back and repurchase it on my GC card. I had spoken with him numerous times before and made small purchases and had no reason to distrust him. After the return period closed, I got my first bill. It was not under the promotion. I called the store, and I found that he was no longer employed and had been fired. When I spoke with the current management, their response was that they could do nothing. I returned home because I always keep a paper trail. The next thing I could think of was to reach out to the store where I previously employed for 7 years. (I had been a successful sales rep, department manager, assistant manager, and Sales Training Manager at Guitar Center. After explaining the situation and having a consistent track record of honesty, focusing on customer service, and building real relationships, which I still have today.) They were able to escalate to the DM who also remembered me, and I was able to finally resolve the situation. No assistance, apology, or attempt to resolve from the location was ever provided. I provided the email thread from the manager, clearly stating the agreement. #2. I wanted to give the location a second chance and was looking to upgrade to a Thunderbolt recording interface. I knew of the trade-in used gear promotion, the financing promotion, and had initially purchased the UA Quad interface. After finding that UA uses the same old processors and were not offering enough to validate the price point, I decided to opt for more I/O and exchange. After I came in to exchange the device: -the rep did not add the trade-in discount or the trade-in balance from the prior purchase. -Another employee who did not understand the circumstances of the mistake that was just made, accused of me of trying to abuse the system, basically fraud and was going to notate my customer profile. -After waiting for the inventory to get added back to the store's inventory, the purchase did not have any promotional terms entered. (48-month promotion, trade-in discount, or trade-in credit) -the manager refused to add the trade-in discount but after needing to physically go to the store to discuss the issue he finally was able to add the 48 month promotion. Although, I paid 3 monthly payments of a very large purchase to keep my credit score in good order. -I reached out to the DM of the store's area who had previously responded but did not reply after this interaction. Every person has a bad interaction. It's going to happen, but I left out details on how I attempted to avoid the initial mishaps in the second interaction, multiple calls to other store managers, and calling Synchrony to try to shorten the review. From my experience as an ex-employee, I know the hurdles and system issues they face, and as I still work in customer service, I try to make every transaction as easy and seamless as possible. I can only suggest that you obtain any promise or agreement in writing. Ensure that the manager and sales manager are informed about this. Request an email containing the stipulations, the employee's name(s), and the manager's approval before making a purchase. Follow up with the manager before the return period ends. read more

Lessons were good, I enjoyed working with Jason on the piano. One thing to be aware of is the 4-pack of lessons that you can purchase also signs you up for automatic monthly lessons subscriptions. I was not aware of this and was charge for a new 4 pack the following month. I attempted to cancel it and get a refund and at first they denied the refund letting me know the details were in the terms and conditions that i agreed to. I had to pursue my refund through multiple levels of upper management before I finally got it approved and received a refund. read more

Is there a reason your "salesmen" act like used car salesman? Example: I'm there trying out amps and guitars (More specifically the 7 string Sterling Majesty, Fender Mustang Combo, and White Boss Katana combo). Some guy I can only assume is a "salesman" asks if I need help. I say assume and use quotes because he had no name tag or identification stating he worked there. I say no and continue about my business. Every once in a while I notice him staring me down out of the corner of my eye. My 12 year old daughter even noticed and asked me about it after the fact. 20 minutes later I'm looking around at the other combo amps, planning on plugging into the Yamaha THR10. He asks again if I need help. I say no thanks. He continues pressing on stating maybe he can help find what I'm looking for. I say again no, I just want to check out some amps and guitars. Again, he persists and I finally tell him I just want to check out some amps and be left alone. He responds by telling me he doesn't make commission, etc. He then turns around and mumbles something under his breath. This latest exchange was within the span of 15 seconds. Between that and the unprofessional announcement from another associate over the intercom regarding closing, "We closing in 30 minutes, get your purchases up here in a hurry, show me whatchu got", this visit was a dumpster fire. I fully intended on walking out with that 7 string Majesty and most likely that THR had I not been harassed and just left to myself. Not now. I'll order from Sweetwater instead from now on. Worst case, I'll drive to GC Knoxville, JC, or Greenville before dealing with this store ever again. The fact that I'll be able to check out gear without being harassed is worth it. read more

Staff was rude and not very helpful. The person that was helping me disappeared and I had to get someone else to help, which took a while. No one seemed very knowledgeable about musical instruments except a guy with long blond hair. Foes Guitar Center even hire musicians to work on the floor anymore? I decided it wasn't worth it and left. And that was the nastiest restroom I have ever seen. I have been all across this country and around the world and this restroom wins the cesspool award hands down. I'm done. They have a good selection here and the prices are ok but if I need to ask for something or when I am ready to pay I feel like I am invisible. I think other female may have a similar experience but I don't know why that is? I just wanted to find somd gaffer tape and it took me forever just to get an employee to make eye contact with me so I could ask. Another time I stood at the front counter ready to pay as two employees ignored me and them rang up a guy who came up behind me. I'm not one to take time out of my day to write reviews, but I'm doing this to warn any uninformed soul -- I've lived in Asheville for 12 years, and this is about the worst goddamn customer service you'll experience in town. I'm a low maintenance customer, too, so that's really saying something. Every single time I've come to this store I've been ignored when trying to check out or get help. I am a woman with a son who is a musician and have spent tons of money on equipment, yet when I visit this store it's like I'm invisible. Yesterday was the final straw, I stood at the counter with a box in my hand for over 30 minutes and was told I'd be waited on when "he was finished hooking up some cables". I said okay and patiently waited. Another customer came in the store behind me and was immediately helped by him while I stood there ready to check out. I waited another 10 minutes while he rung up guitar strings and then I put down my $150 piece of equipment and left. NEVER again! read more

I looked on Amazon for a keyboard and they said it would take one month to deliver it. When it seems weird you have to do some more research I ended up buying it from Guitar Center and picked it up the next day. That is one bricks and mortar business that the death star will not destroy. read more

The customer service at this guitar center was A class unlike any guitar center ive been in. They knew their information and helped us solve a problem weve had with a subwoofer for 2 weeks. Good for a Guitar Center, though I consider that faint praise. While there was no one inside that could actually talk to me on the specifications of the various keyboards and digital pianos, at least I could sit down at a drumkit or piano to try it out without having to wait 20 minutes on dude bros jamming to impress their bored girlfriends (which is all day every day at the Guitar Centers in Charlotte and Greensboro). Wow! Asheville has its own Guitar Center now. That's incredible. We're really coming up as a city when you have a big box music retailer show up. I couldn't be happier. Thus far I've had the pleasure of shopping here twice. On both occasions it would seem as though I missed the meedle-me meedle-me meedle-me guitar shredders trying out the latest axe. It was, in fact, pleasantly calm. The manager, Anthony got me a great deal on a wireless microphone set for my DJ set up, and I was stoked. Seriously, I got it for 15% less than I've seen it anywhere online. Upon my most recent visit I was hoping to get an additional transmitter for the set up, but it would seem as though his hands were tied.. they could do price matching, and even wave the additional sales tax cost, but an awesome deal simply wasn't possible. That's the fun of Guitar Center, sometimes you get a CRAZY deal, other times it's average. This place is totally worth a stop in if you're hoping to experiment and play around with great gear, both new and used, before taking the plunge and purchasing something. I've been shopping at this G.C. for several years,and have always received EXCELLENT service. But tonight's experience was even better. Two weeks ago I bought a new amp,and last night it quit working. I took it back to G.C. to see what they could do for me. I looked at my watch walking in,and it was 5:40. At 5:47 I was back in my car with a replacement amp!!! No hassle,no questions,just an apology for having a problem,and a new amp!! Came in to find some instruments that would be suitable for my 6 month old to play with and explore. We have infant "toy" instruments but they tend to be off key or sound terrible- as long as he's interested in music I'd rather he have something functional. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Gene and I told him what we were looking for. He gave us undivided attention and quickly showed us some options. I was hoping to find a slit drum or log drum, and he went to work searching for a way to order one. We left with a bag of kids percussion and found a slit drum in the store. The house is now full of new sounds and my 6 month old is stoked. I also noticed the store was pretty busy with kids coming in for music lessons, all looked very happy- and Gene knew them all by name. Great service experience. read more
