I stopped in to trade in a couple of guitars towards a new guitar. Felix was the gentlemen helping me and he was AMAZING to say the least. He helped get me slightly more than what the system was showing is the average for trade ins (I don't want the hassle of selling them myself online even though I know I can get more sometimes) and honored an online deal even though his store didn't show the deal on their system. I use pay later apps if I'm eager to get something and don't wanna spend all the money upfront and said app was being a pain and causing a bunch of issues. I kept apologizing to him and he was very generous and said it was okay and don't apologize. It took longer than it should have to set up the pay later app and he was so friendly about it the entire time and was even joking with me and my wife while he waited. He made me feel like he actually wanted to help instead of just seeing me as another sale. He definitely deserves his flowers for being one of the best sales associates I've ever had, anywhere! I just sold 6 guitars to this store, the lowest end of which were 2 Charvel Pro-Mod MIM's. Happy to report I had a much better experience than I expected based on the Yelp reviews of this store. It seems Guitar Center has made a real effort to turn this store around and it seems to be working! One of the managers, Ivan, handled the transaction, and he could not have been nicer or more professional. I had done my research on Reverb, etc., to see beforehand what I had and get an estimate of what I could reasonably expect to be offered for my gear. I figured 60% of resale value would be the best I could hope for, and he actually offered me a little more than that. That said, I should point out that these guitars were all mint or excellent condition and I provided the original cases. All in all, it seemed like a fair deal to me. Many prior reviews said this store was filthy and had poor customer service. I found that neither of those things are true anymore. Ivan said that corporate has started to place an emphasis on customer experience rather than sales, so don't be put off by previous terrible reviews. Guitar center is recognized for great prices, very helpful and professional staff... unfortunately this place lacks the customer service part BIG TIME!!! The so called manager has an attitude and so does the staff... Don't understand if they don't like their job go sell corn on the street or something. Avoid yourself a headache and purchase elsewhere or buy online and have it delivered to your home.. aside from the place being filth like the aftermath of a burglary.... I moved my business to sweetwater online, once you make your first purchase they assign a sales-customer service person to you that you can call or email, after every order is delivered I always receive a call to ensure everything is ok and to ensure customer satisfaction.... they also offer competitive prices, have coupons , price match, etc... The store itself isn't too bad , my issue is with the insurance they offer on instruments . I paid for the pro coverage in case anything ever happened to my guitar and sure enough it did but it seems impossible to send in the claim and just get this simple issue fixed . I've been making calls since the morning and there's so many things you need to do just to get a simple fix. This has gone waaaayyyyy downhill. The first thing you notice is how filthy the place is. Next, if course is the horrible customer service. I don't understand why the employees take no pride in their store and their work. Hero Music is literally 100 feet away. I walked over and spent over $600 bucks on DI boxes, stands, cables, and an extra mic for my small Sound business without breaking a sweat and left with a smle on my face. The owner even helped me carry my stuff to my car so that I didn't have to make 2 trips. I will never return to Guitar Center in my life...at least the El Paso location. read more

I put My 2,000 guitar in their shop for an electrical issue, the guitar tech wasn't there, but I live 3 hours away, so no big deal, I tell them the issue and leave the guitar. 2 Weeks go by with only a call to ask what the issue was again.. I told them again and another week goes by, I call the tech, he said it was something simple and so I have him do a full set up and it would be ready for pickup. I drive the 3 hours back, and not only is the guitar not set up, nothing has been done and they tell me they didn't know what the problem was. So I waste 6 hours round trip because they couldn't call me and let me know there was an issue. Here I am a month later without my guitar, and still haven't heard from them. Once I get my guitar back, I will be done with El Paso guitar center. Customer service is AWFUL and so is the upkeep and cleanliness of their store, completely out of guitar picks... just really not run well. read more

The staff are amazing, we have had Mark as a bass instruct and he really is amazing the motivation he gives you keep going even when you make mistakes is great. I honestly don't know why I return to this place. Tried to sell my mint condition 007 bass breaker and was offered $140. The guy said they were going for $250 used in brand new condition which is a lie. I couldn't find anything for less than $450 in the same condition as mine. Then he couldn't figure out how to give me a price on my Mitchell ms450 which Mitchell also happens to be their house brand. I bought it for $399 from them about a year ago but I decided to leave before he could figure out how to work his computer. I probably would have been offered $50 bucks. The frustrating part of the situation is that I guarantee if I sold they would have turned around and most likely sold the pair for around $800 bucks. It's disgusting. There are worse things in life than taking your service to Guitar Center, like paper cuts, hitting your shin, eating glass and drinking a lemonade afterwards, volcanos erupting on a small village. Guitar center is special. They take customer service to a new low, lows that are so close to the edge of hell that you can practically bake a chimichanga. I won't bore you with the details. Why? Because, unlike Guitar Center, I don't believe in existential/psychological torment. In fact, I'll pose my experience in the form of a question: how many businesses can you think of that make customers pay twice for a service? Like, have you ever gone to a car dealership, and when you're about to pay for the car they're like "Great news! The car is on sale. We're selling it for $36,000 + 100% of what the car is worth. So, your total is $72,000"? Never? You've never experienced this before? This is fucking crazy talk, you say? A figment of my imagination? Welcome to Guitar Center, where nightmares become a reality, where novice guitar players overpay for shitty guitars and where bald, pony tail wielding, washed-up 60-something year olds yuppies go to buy a Gibson Les Paul because they watched a documentary on Led Zeppelin and the guitarist "looked cool." Well, here we go! The store is FILTHY, you do not need to enter the store to view this its literally in the front doors were you can appreciate this. The employees are literally over tune with attitude to the brink that its disgusting to talk to them ( if they are willing to "help") on top of that they do not know what they are doing, case in point that i needed some parts for my guitar, i specifically requested a certain knob for my guitar and the seller told me that what he was selling me was the same....And it was not, so i had to bring it back and i even got the same seller in the register when i was returning the parts, the seller knowing who i was told me he could not return the part and to go to the audio department so that it could be returned because he could not look at me in the eye knowing he lied to me and got another rep to help me with the return. The sad part is that i live in Juarez, and the cross takes me literally a minimum of 1 hour given the issues with the venezuelan migrants, so the rep did not give a fuck, lied, gave attitude and still did not have the balls to look at me in the eye when he knew he screwed up. The customer service is hit and miss. What's a deal breaker for me is the lack of accountability, transparency and honesty from the organization. We purchased a speaker with mic system and the warranty for ti. It's been almost 6 months and they still have yet to resolve it. Guitar center blames the insurance carrier and insurance carrier does not respond. Why do you sell an insurance when you know this happens? Nearly 30 minutes just getting someone to acknowledge me when i was trying to make a purchase at the counter. Short staffed, and obviously someone else was making a large expensive purchase so my little purchase wasn't worth saying "We'll be right with you." Can get the Snark 2 on Amazon for $10 cheaper. Well where do I start!??? First off I was ask by two guys if they could help me in pro audio. I said yes and then they both said they had a couple things they had to do. I said no problem I'll be looking when they're done come talk to me. They never showed. I finally found another guy to help. He showed me a product he thought was good. Quoted me 349.00 after which I seen it on display for 299.00. Guess he was shooting for some pocket change. Anyhow I bought the novation impulse 49. It came to 324.00 after tax I paid cash. Took it home noticed the LCD display was literally peeling off. So I put it back in the box an returned it the next morning. Told them it was peeling off and it was cheaply made. A blind eye could see it. The guy tried insulting me saying "is it just the protective plastic that you're suppose to peel off that's peeling?" I appreciate you insinuating that I am a dumbass but no it is the actual screen itself peeling up. Then the other guy ask if he should sell it open box and the guy says no there's nothing wrong with it. I said "you're really going to turn around and sell that to someone else knowing it's falling apart?". Then to top it off they refunded me by check. I've returned things before and have never been given a check. They always give back the same way you pay. Or use to. So now I'll be charged to cash this check. They wanted me to take in store credit but there's no way I'd shop with those idiots again. Bottom line is if you buy from this store you more than likely won't get much help or insight and you're probably buying something that's already been opened and returned but they won't tell you that!! This isn't the first time I've been to this store and struggled to get someone to help. I love guitar center, it's my favorite store but I will never step foot in that s***hole again. Expensive! But one time we sold them a nice acoustic and got a fair price on it. Today we went in to sell an electric I bought 3 years ago for $349 and it was in pristine condition. The girl behind the counter said we would get $80 for it! Screw that! The guitar is home with us, we'll pass it down to a family member. that was totally not a fair price. It actually used to be a nice place to go but I guess the economy screwed it up like everything else. I cannot begin to explain how much I loathe this place, practically becoming the bane of my existence. This Guitar Center is populated with some of the most uneducated people I know, about two of them really ever know what I'm looking for when I ask. They also have this really convoluted trade-in program that will gouge you for your gear, for example if you take in a $700 guitar, then expect no more than $250. This place has basically become a huge pawn shop, with the "used" section boasting far better instruments than the "new" section does. Also, this place can't do repairs; that's right, they have no certified luthiers or even a remotely good technician. Avoid buying an gear from this store unless you have already researched what you want to buy, and even then I'd go to a local shop before ever stepping foot in here again. read more

About the only thing these guys are good for are accessories and that's only the basic accessories such as tuners and some strings. Depending on what style of strings you like, my might or might not have them. Their acoustic room is filled mostly with cheaper guitars while their "high end" room is quite disappointing. Service is hardly existent here, even making eye contact with a salesperson behind the counter will not get you a greeting or asking if you need help. You have to actively seek help. I thought that was their job? Electric guitars there are in the mid-range, nothing spectacular. Poor selection with poor service means I buy the majority of my stuff online instead of going here. Added on October 21, 2016: El Paso is a low budget town and this GC is definitely a representation of that. Went in today to look for a padded gig bag. They didn't have them in stock. I always thought that was a very basic thing for guitar stores to stock but I guess not. Had a difficult time finding someone to help before I went to the accessory counter. Went in today to sell my Pulse Pro drum set with axis bass pedal, cymbals, etc. The two guys in the drum department were more than helpful and willing to help me get the most for my sale.... But then they had to consult the manager. I waited for better part of 25 mins while the clerk went back and was getting approval (not blaming him, he's doing his job). Because they couldn't find a set used for sale even remotely like mine, I have suspension rim upgrades, the manager offered me $175. By the look on the clerks face he knew it was ridiculous seeing as he knew the set sold for between 800 and 1000 new. I told the drum guys thanks anyways and hauled my cymbal bag out to the truck where I had my bag searched for stolen merchandise...really?? Save your time and energy and go elsewhere... read more

The staff was very helpful and everyone was friendly to say the least. I went in to get my guitar repaired in the afternoon and had to go later that evening to pick it up. They took in my guitar and the employee working there even stayed a little after his shift ended just to make sure that I received my repaired guitar. Getting a guitar as a newbie for my brother in high school was a bit intimidating, we had zero knowledge on anything involving instruments. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by Louie who asked if we needed any assistance. We explained our situation and he asked all the high questions to make sure we were getting something that was suitable for our needs. We had a ton of questions and he not once seemed annoyed or uninterested. He was attentive, he walked us to everything we needed after finding the perfect guitar and went into detail on how to use the tuner and different types of picks and strings. Super great experience will definitely come back for the customer service alone. Not to mention the inventory was great, there was so many options and accessories, totally seems like a one stop shop for all your guitar needs. read more

Even though they didn't have the type of mixer I wanted, Adrian was very professional and helpful enough to call up his friend who worked at another local music shop. This is the second time that I catch the employees using products that says is in stock then I show up and find out the employees are using it! That is against store policy! Have come into this store many times and have spent a lot of money and time here. Customer service can be a five star experience when they know we are spending a large sum of money. But, when coming in to pick up the necessities needed for our instruments the service truly lacks and is just non-existent. Came in today to just pick up guitar strings and have re-stringed. We approach the counter where there were three employees socializing and obviously ignoring us. One of them was cutting her nails on top of the glass counter. That's disgusting! Instead of approaching us and asking for assistance, we had to ask if they were working. Only to get a response that the person responsible for re-stringing was off today. That could have been remedied immediately if the three employees cared. We eventually got our strings and were given the wrong strings after that lovely experience. Remedial customer service is definitely in dire need here. Now, we need to return to this place to fix yet another mistake. El Paso needs to experience true customer service in a metropolitan area that thrives off of their customers business. read more

This place needs to close fast, or overhaul all of its employees and terminate whoever they report up to. No service, bad attitudes, and the displayed passion of "we don't want to sell anything at all" is their mantra. I went in twice to talk to someone about buying a specific Taylor acoustic and no one would help me at all. Instead, rude and inconsiderate kids were banging on the guitar in the acoustic room, no intention of buying it (a few pesos won't get you very much these days), and would not stop hogging it. well this place use to be a great place where people were passionate about what they would sell but that all changed about 2-3 years ago. Management changed and employees pay got docked. If you wonder why Guitar center lost most of its loyal customers its because they didn't fight to keep their loyal employees and hired kids to take over. It all adds up to why everyone doesn't get the help they need when you walk in there. If you really want someone to help you through and help you to their best knowledge ask for someone who's been there for more than 6 plus years those are the few loyal employees who were taught the customer service everyone deserves.
