I had a phenomenal time picking out a guitar for my birthday gift. I was in the market for an acoustic and was floored by how much selection they had in store. I really love that. They had a dedicated practice room where I could try each of them on and see how they sounded with their built-in electronics through dedicated acoustic amps. I found a couple that were really lovely that had a tuner on board which I had never seen before and ended up picking up a beautiful guitar that had softened beveled edges and was so comfortable and the best part was it was on sale and I didn't realize it! The staff were super helpful and very friendly with me and my three kids who are all musical and got to explore the drum sets together and learn something new about music. They really need to step up their game - dime a dozen guitars and usually walk into some horrid playing which you just have to tolerate. I look at the used stuff and it's ok - they pay nothing for instruments so find another place to sell. I purchased a few guitars of which they have no clue to what it was. That's fine with me, but even explaining it to the staff comes with a deer in the headlights look. It could be so much better - quantity seems the name of the game. I would go to charleys since it's so much better and has one of the nicest and knowlegable people working there. Tone Shop it terrible so don't go there unless you want to add an extra 1000 to the already overpriced merchandise, they are obviously proud of. If you must - G-center is good to see if there is a bargain, but that's it. Do not expect them to know much about the products either. read more

I have been searching for a hard-shell wood case for my acoustic guitar for quite some time now. After searching online, I was finally able to find one that fit my guitar here. So, I placed my order online and headed to the store after receiving notification that my case was ready for pickup. This Farmers Branch location is a 40-minute drive for me, but I was excited to get this case. The layout of this store is similar to other stores in the chain, which is nice so you can easily find what you're looking for. I was kindly greeted by Jered; he verified my order and went to grab my case. The store was clean and organized, they also have a wide selection of guitars, gear, and accessories to choose from.   Unfortunately, when Jered came back with the case, I instantly noticed several dings, nicks, and a scratch on the case. Jared was kind enough to offer me a small discount, but I was spending almost $130.00 for this new case and wanted something without any damage. Jared issued me a return, then placed an order sourcing the case from another location and having it shipped to my house for convenience.   Overall, I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to drive away with my new case. However, Jared made up for it with his kind, friendly, and helpful service. Thanks Jared!   I recommend this location, and will definitely come back again. read more

I'd normally say you don't want to be a professional in a Guitar Center. It's the type of store that's usually reserved for an emergency. Shae, the drum manager will take care of you though and knows his stuff. If you need something and don't want to drive all the way to a specialty store, this is your GC. I had a great experience at this location yesterday. I walked in and did my normal round of the store playing a few used guitars in both the acoustic and electric sections and then looked at all the other new guitars as well. But what I was really there for was to finally get a pedalboard and all the accessories that would be needed to get me started. As I aimlessly looked around I was asked by an employee named John if I needed any help and thankfully this guy was definitely just what I needed- a wealth of knowledge. John got me set up with a pedalboard, power supply and all the cables I would need. Seriously one of the best customer service encounters I've ever had. I went to ask an available employee if he could unlock a guitar for me. He kindly said yes. He started to walk with me towards the acoustic room as he asks "what guitar are we looking at today?" I said "the butterscotch MIM Acoustasonic." He immediately stopped walking, turned, and started walking again a different direction as he stated "dude that's a $#!+ guitar. Go ask one of them to help you!" At first I thought he was joking but after 15 minutes of nothing happening, I had to ask someone else to help me. I need to find somewhere new to buy guitars. I have been shopping at Guitar Center for over 14 years. I guess no one wanted to help me because I didn't look like a rocker loaded with money. I spent a solid 15-20 minutes walking around and playing guitars in their acoustic guitar section and no one even acknowledged me. When I walked in, there were 3 people at the door. A older bald guy, an older guy with salt and pepper hair and a guy that looked like he was just about to finish high school. They just looked at me and continued to talk to each other. I used to get great service but I guess since the economy went south, half the places I go to are filled with people who don't care about their jobs anymore. This is one of them. The best thing about this place is that you can demo a bunch of equipment. Now if anyone would help you, now that would be a different story. I used to enjoy this place but after hanging out for 15-20 minutes, I had enough. When I left, the old guy at the door grumbled at me like one of those goblins on Legend of Zelda. I am not normally one to leave reviews but I felt this one was necessary. I was in this store for over an hour, walking aimlessly around looking at everything. It took about 40 minutes just for an employee to even say a word to me. I was not greeted when I walked in, not once was I asked if I needed help finding anything or had any questions about anything. Multiple employees walked by me and the only woman that spoke to me asked how long I had been playing guitar (I played trumpet for about a decade so I can read music and I was just checking out some songbooks), I said I actually don't play and she told me they were having free lessons they were having the upcoming weekend. That was about the only thing decent that I can honestly say happened during my over 60 minutes in this store. It shouldn't be any sort of task to greet people as they come in and asking if they need assistance. Absolutely TERRIBLE service. This location use to have a great selection and friendly knowledgable service. I'm not sure what happened. On a recent visit, I was looking for some assistance with some questions and no sales reps were to be found. I could understand if the store were busy, but I was literally the only customer inside the store. This has been my experience the last few times to this location. On another note, I called the store recently to ask about a specific item and if it would be available through them. The representative on the phone was rude and seemed impatient to end the call. One star is too much for this store... terrible customer service. I went in there was no sales person to help with my needs so I wondered to the back in search of a drum throne and survival kit. And out of nowhere a rude manger by the name of Leslie came screaming from The back where is your mask? I was like excuse me I had not noticed a sign about mask and the mandate had been lifted. She proceeds to being very disrespectful, and VERY ugly.... telling me to get out of the store and spraying Lysol... she was yelling at the other employees...Further when Robbie came to see what the commotion was all about she started being rude and disrespectful to him... Robbie was very nice, I asked Leslie for managers information and she stated she was the manager. I asked for the corporate office number and she refused. I have bought too much stuff out of Guitar center for this type of treatment. Robbie did give me the information needed and I will be escalating the matter. Do not go to this store. Horrible service. This is definitely my favorite location. Obviously, local places are a favorite amongst musicians but when you need to get 'er done, GC will definitely help you out quickly and efficiently. I do not play guitar but I am surrounded by people who do so I usually head straight for the accessories counter for some much needed direction. The staff is always attentive and super knowledgeable without trying to strut their stuff and impress you. In fact, I recently purchased a guitar for my pops and had no problem making an informed decision with the help of the pros at GC. I love me some GC whether I'm tagging along with a friend or shopping for the numerous musicians in my life. read more

Went in with an old guitar (I'm guitar illiterate) to see what I had. These guys made me feel at home and never made me feel stupid or inferior due to my lack of knowledge and explained things so that I could understand. The all seemed pretty excited about my '76 Les Paul and set me up to have it appraised. They were also helpful with my first guitar purchase since I'm also trying to learn to play. Despite being a mass-seller of mainstream guitar and drum equipment, this location truly stands out. The floorwalkers are always friendly and ready to help. Even an old dude like me. Despite the fact that most of them are young enough to be my children. The Bears stopped by one Saturday afternoon in search of some wireless mikes for our band. Naturally, the guy behind the counter hands us the most expensive set on the shelf for starts. But after we explained that the price was out of our budget, he did offer a solid, affordable alternative - which we ended up taking home. We appreciate him taking the time to do a backroom search to get us what we really wanted. He also took the time to explain how the stuff worked, which Bears really appreciated. In summary, we've been patronizing this GC location for at least a decade, and they've never disappointed us. I came in to return a microphone I bought by from another store. When I purchased the microphone the associate never put in my information nor did he give me a receipt putting me in the position of not being allowed to return the mic. The manager, a young lady with pink hair, was unbelievably rude from the moment she walked up to the moment I left. She acted as if I was wasting her time and almost seemed to enjoy leading me to a dead end. Her demeanor is enough to keep me from shopping at this store, and their incompetence of handing me a receipt is enough to keep me from shopping with the whole company. read more

Terrible experience with the employee at the repair table. I brought in a guitar amp that he said he could fix in 2-3 weeks (felt a bit long, but as this was in April '20 when businesses were just starting to reopen, I thought it was okay and was happy to be patient). Over the next 3 MONTHS, I followed up several times (every couple weeks) and each time he claimed that he had not been able to get to the amp and stated that it was not his priority (despite saying initially that he could fix it) and not providing any sort of updated timetable. Eventually, I got fed up with waiting as it seemed like he would never get around to it and I worried about having the amp misplaced at the store, so I picked the still-broken amp back up in August (3-4 months later). The only reason this is not a 1 star review is because he did not charge a cent. A total waste of time and energy and will never go back to a guitar center again. read more

So i walk in to buy an electronic guitar tuner (literally sold online at multiple retailers for $8 to $11), and asked how much this exact same one was at this Guitar Center. They told me $40. really? So the latest in my journey with GC... I wrote a letter to the CEO of GC, Ron Japinga, outlining what had occurred over the last several weeks. No response from him... but... I did get a call from Ted Strange, the store manager at this GC location. I have to say, Ted was gracious, apologetic for my experience, and sincerely wanted to earn my business back. To that end we worked out a deal where I ended up with a great amp and head for a very reasonable price. But that is not what has earned my business back, it was Ted's attitude and willingness to make things right. I will shop at this location whenever I get the chance going forward. Is the problem with GC's customer service via online fixed? I don't think so. They need to have continuity with customers so that the same person works an issue all the way through to resolution. Has the CEO heard about it? Who knows. I did let Ted know that I was disappointed that I did not hear back from him, but we all know that CEO's don't typically deal with the "little people". It's a shame... those little people pay his salary too. Nonetheless, I am happy with this local store once again and I believe that my experience will not be duplicated. Thank you again Ted for stepping up and being a customer advocate! Here was GC's response after I sent them everything that had transpired at this location about not accepting brass in trade and finding used brass for sale on their website in two locations... (nothing addressing that their "policy" seems to be selective, nothing addressing the fact that the local Mesquite store also has a used sax for sale, nothing about why they sell the item but won't take it in trade). Just a blow off email to call New Orleans (from Texas no less) to see if they'll take it in trade. About the sorriest excuse for customer service I've seen. While GC is more of a mass seller of guitars vs a cool vibe hangout type of shop, I really like their shop for the service. I have bought numerous guitars there and everyone is very helpful. In one case, I had a problem when it was shipped directly to me from Fender. The manager immediately got involved and personally handled it. I had a new guitar within 2 days. I'm a novice guitar player who has been practicing for a couple years. Last week, my toddler broke one of the strings on my guitar, and while it was a seemingly simple repair, I didn't want to take any chances. So I brought my acoustic over to Guitar Center for basic repair. The crew was courteous and happily helped me out. Best of all, after the tech fixed my guitar, he charged me absolutely nothing. I was expecting to pay something for the service and instead, the man chose to create goodwill. Naturally, when my kids need their own instruments, I will gladly repay GC with my loyalty. We've been shopping at this store for 8 years now. We always had excellent customer service until June of 2017 when I signed my son up for Guitar Lessons. We signed up with a specific Guitar teacher at the store. The first lesson was suppose to be free, on a Saturday. When we arrived The instructor wasn't there, we wasted our time going there.So we decided to blow off the free lesson. The next Prepaid lesson he received, and really enjoyed it. The next week and the week after that we showed up for music lessons and there was no instructor. Now when we ask for make up lessons, they will only allow him to do them on Saturdays because they don't do make up lessons during the week, which was not a possibility for us so there is two more lessons we wasted time gas and money on. The next week we go in for a lesson and they have a Piano Teacher to teach my son Guitar lessons, not the original man we signed up with. They explain that they are hiring more instructors. We decide to stick it out and for the next three lessons He has different instructors for each one. Mostly Piano Instructors. They hire a new Guitar Instructor and a new Music Coordinator. Now this Girl is completely rude! We are scheduled for the following week with the new instructor but get a phone call the night before saying they have to reschedule the lesson. So we accommodate. When we go for the lesson we explain school is about to start back and we would like to freeze the account for 1 month until my son figures out his school schedule. He is still owed 3 regular 1 hour lessons for the month. Now after everything we went through with them, you"d think they would be willing to cut us a little slack. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I call The morning of the lesson to inform them my son has ROTC after school and can't make the lesson. Could we please reschedule. I got a Giant definite no, because I have to give a 24 hour notice. So My son misses ROTC to rush to lessons and after the lesson he tells them he wont be returning because he doesn't have time. He would like to take up lessons again next summer. Well they charge my card again for the month of October on September 20th. I call them and ask for a refund with another Giant definite NO. I filed a complaint and I am waiting on a response. I won't be shopping with Guitar Center again, unless they refund my money. A very Disappointed and Loyal Customer read more

I can't even tell you how happy I am with these guys. There was a mixup with my credit card and they were unable to ship to my home address in New Jersey, and I was inadvertently doublecharged. The manager of the used gear store worked to get the entire thing straightened out, including on his day off. I live 1500 miles from Dallas, but I am gonna check on this store before I buy anywhere else. Customer service like theirs deserves applause and certainly gets my repeat business!!!!
