Went in to but a wireless guitar system and they only had 2 employees and about 15 customers waiting for help. When it came my turn a person from the drum department helped me and he had no idea what I was talking about. The other employee knew what I needed and tried to educate the drum guy with my help. Their computer system said they had 5 of them but they could not be found after a very brief search. I selected an alternative system that was not really what I wanted but works so far. All the guitars I tried were very poorly setup. Another employee finally showed up as I was looking at a PRS SE Mccarty. I asked the employee why the guitar was $1400.00 instead of $600 to $900 as it is priced elsewhere. He just grabbed the guitar out of my hand, said he had to give a lesson and disappeared with the guitar. Lost sale and customer for Guitar Center. Won't be going back for a long long long time. Time to go to Reverb for my future buys. read more

Went in to buy a drum set. I was looking to get a DW maple kit. Thank goodness not a single person said a word to me in the 30 minutes that I was there. Ended up finding a great deal on a used kit off facebook marketplace instead... It's basically a self service store. Don't go in expecting much assistance but it is an ok spot to pick up hardware. read more

Came in to this store to return a faulty used guitar I ordered on the Guitar Center website. The return process was a breeze and they took care of it right when I walked in. I wanted to replace what I ordered online with one in the store and was assisted by Brent who was incredibly helpful and professional. I am a beginner guitarist and Brent was patient and thorough in answering my questions. He saved me from doing hours of online product research by showing me brand/model build differences and even demonstrated playing a few. I shop at guitar centers a lot. This store is so frustratingly slow that it isnt worth it. every time at this store i have to wait at least 45 minutes. So many customers are walking out, including me. idk what the staff are doing, but they arent helping people that are looking to buy things. unless you want to check out a guitar physically before you buy it, there is no reason to go to this store. Brought a djembe drum in not knowing much about the trade in value, and the employees were extremely nice, helpful and honest. Going into a guitar center, I expected to have to haggle with rude employees that think they know more than anyone about music/instruments. I couldn't have been more mistaken. I was just at the Guitar Center-store #449 at 5250 S. Hulen St.,Ft Worth, TX looking to purchase some equipment for my studio. I was looking at a $549 traveling guitar. Then I placed it back on the wall. Mr. Brent Wall decided to come over to where I was and explain to me that people steal these by putting them in their bags. Please note, I didn't have a bag at all. Then he placed the same guitar high up where I couldn't reach it. He then asked if I would like to purchase anything. I told him that I wanted to buy that guitar; however, I'm not interested in purchasing anything from here. I also asked him why he didn't place the guitar that another gentleman and his child handled out of their reach. He responded, "because it was cheaper." I left the store upset, but then I decide to return to talk with the manager. I shared what happened with James Smith, Customer Service Manager, and he stated that Mr. Brent Wall was a 20 plus year employee-which doesn't matter. I was mishandled as a customer so I can only imagine how others possibly have been treated. After I shared I was a local pastor, my resume and discography, Mr. Smith did offer an apology and said that if I needed anything to let him know. Moral of this story: Treat every patron of your business the same and never assume. Don't profile people because after being alive for as long as I have, it's easy to recognize. read more

This store is kinda hidden, and its in a very quiet area. I came here to browse piano's with my daughter. I was NOT greeted when I walked in, although there was plenty of staff by the front door and at the registers. Staff did not greet me until I got to the piano section, he was very polite and seem very interested in my daughters interest about the keyboard/piano. They have a wide selection of pianos, guitars, drums, just everything and anything musical you can think of. We enjoyed playing things and listening to other play. I don't think we will be getting her keyboard from here but this store is pretty awesome. We will be back for something, I'm sure of it. read more

Staff was really friendly and helpful with what I needed (I didn't have many questions about the instruments, but someone else did and the staff happily helped, very friendly!). They have a lot of guitars available to try on the walls, with a good amount of variety. Same goes for amps. Pretty clean store and per usual for a music store there were a bunch of people around playing, undisturbed. So-- Not sure what place these other reviewers saw, but as of mid-2022, it seems to be run really well! read more

Guitar Center as a whole has terrible customer service. I took a couple guitars to trade in and they offered me a grand total of $74 for 2 guitars that they were going to turn around and sell for over $200. Don't believe their 60% value that they "say" they'll give you on trades. Additionally I emailed 2 other stores about 2 different used guitars I wanted to check out but never received any responses. Both were at stores I was going to have to drive about an hour to get to one way. Well by the time I got no response they had been sold. GC will never see another penny from me. Snobs! We will be looking for another store to buy our gear from. We went in the other day and these people could care less about good service. They are more interested in jacking off behind the counter and looking bada$$ than actually trying to help or offer advice. I tried to find an acoustic bass and the salesman rideculed and laughed at my preference and then pretty much told me that his way was best and didn't even try to make further suggestions, he just started playing on his cellphone. Do not shop here, maybe instead you could offer the store off Bryant irvine your business, they're called "Music Go Round" We found them by accident the other day. read more

I dropped by tonight while waiting on my niece to finish up at the gym nearby. Lots of acoustic, electric and bass guitars, amps, accessories and recording equipment. Unfortunately, I wasn't looking for acoustic, electric or bass guitars. Probably because I don't play those. I was looking for GHS banjo strings for my Irish banjo. They had Dean Markle and some other brand. GHS was out of stock. Wanted to check out banjo straps since my banjo didn't come with one. I thought they had one for around $10 that I saw at their online store, but they didn't have it in the store... well, none that didn't require you to purchase a new banjo to get. Lots of ukuleles... no electric models or banjoleles to test; which I've really wanted to try out for a while, now. Very helpful and friendly staff, but not much by way of merchandise in stock for my particularly strange musical needs. read more

So, the first 'para' is my first time experience. 2 souls 'reached out' (I've loathed that term since I first heard Hillary 'lock her up' Clinton use it. I guess it reminds me of Shakespeare's 'discretion bring the better part of valor' but, I digress). Neither attempt was acknowledged. The second 'para' my response. Remember I wrote I'm only coming back once. Well, once it was. Went back today to pick up a previously purchased but then out-of-stock item. Waited only a few moments at the unattended counter before I was joined by another customer. A lady perhaps some years younger than I. An employee I recognized from my first descent to Dante's doorway made an appearance and asked if I was ok. (My initial thought was apparently not as you aren't asking how I may be served). I affirmed I was and nodding to my recent acquaintance asked the man to please take care of the lady first. He asked what she needed and she offered him a stringed instrument and said, "a new one of these." At that moment another employee appeared and the first man to the counter told him what the lady needed and asked him to find one. The young man agreed and left and then the first man walked away! I looked at the lady and verbally repeated what we had just witnessed and she dropped her eyes and said, "it's a lost art, customer service." Not for long I thought, "This is my second and last time here, I won't ever have to experience this again." The retriever appeared with her purchase and after her I was really expecting the lad to bolt, however, and before he could do that or anything else I told him I was here for a pick up. He assisted with neither a smile nor a please come back, much less if there was anything else I needed. (Actually yeah, I needed a capo, picks and an accessory for my strap but figured Zoo Music was on my way home and since Guitar Center didn't appear to want to help I'd give them my business). The Mgr who wrote the above asked me to contact them and extended me the opportunity for his outlet to prove they were better than what happened on my first visit. I think this has to be the worst guitar center on the planet!! I put a keyboard on layaway and i went out of town, came back to pay on it, and i was told the layaway expired the day before. NO ONE CALLED ME OR ATTEMPTED TO REACH OUT TO ME to inform me of this matter! The keyboard is damaged and i wanted to take it off your hands but the nonchalant salesman in pro audio obviously didn't want to make a sale, because he gave me an ultimatum of paying the full balance today or getting back the money i had already paid down on it. What i would've paid today would've almost cleared the entire balance but i guess y'all don't like making money. He told me that it couldn't be put back on layaway which i know is a lie because i shop with the cedar hill store often and they have extended layaways for purchases over $2000 for me. We were greeted at the door and asked if we needed help after Walking to look for a snare drum and cymbals for my 9 year old. They called Chase over to help us and Chase brought us in $30 under budget, was a huge help, and very knowledgeable about their equipment and playing drums as well. I have purchased several guitars and have had strings replaced and purchased several related items at Guitar Center on Hulen in Fort Worth. Have noticed that service was taking a dive. On a recent visit, I walked into the store and was immediately greeted with, "Get a mask on" in a very rude manner. I ask the person if that was a city ordinance and the reply came that it is a store requirement. I suggested the the individual that they could be a bit more business like and not so rude. I left the store and was greeted by another gentleman that had just left and he had received the same treatment. I will not return to the store. read more

This store is not bad. Here's the thing, if you're looking for specialty items, like any other retail store, you're not going to find them. They can get almost anything, but don't expect them to have replacement hammers for Mountain Dulcimers, because NO ONE has them. It's not economically feasible to stock every miscellaneous item for every instrument ever invented, but they can probably get that for you. As far as returns go, the back of every receipt has the return policy in addition to the return policy being posted in a few locations in the store. I'm not sure about any particular person's case, but it is illegal to return copywritten material, i.e. software, books, etc., Federal Law. They can't do it, no one is supposed to. If it was a particular length of time between purchase and return that is the issue, most customers today have unrealistic expectations of return policies. Realize that if you keep an item and use it, and try to return it 2 months later and expect your full money back, they have to try to sell that item that you sweat on, spit in, or scratched up as new. I'll interject an old addage, buyer beware. Or another, treat others how you want to be treated. If you wouldn't want a particular item in the condition you return it in, then no one else would either. Manufacturers won't take most returns back, so the store is then stuck with it. Lets say you bought a $700 guitar. While you were playing it for 3 months, you pick scratched the hell out of it, and decided to get something else. You bug the employees enough that they return it for you. The pick scratched to hell guitar then sits on the shelf with 20 other pick scratched to hell guitars, and customers won't buy them because they're having to be sold as new because the manufacturer won't return it. Now, you have to sell at cost, which looses the store a large amount of money. They still have to pay the employees salary, rent for the store, power, internet.....a ton of costs you never even think of. That causes the company that's already $2.5 billion in debt to lose more money, and they can't stay open. That puts 25 people out of work, some of them have families. Those families go hungry and ultimately it destroys our economy, all because you wanted to return a guitar instead of trying to sell it as used yourself. Also, if I had already written a review 3 years ago saying how I would only shop online, I probably wouldn't go back, but that's just me. I will say more often than not, even though they may be opinionated, most of the employees know their stuff. I understand they may come across as gruff sometimes (especially some of them), but I highly doubt anyone would make fun of your preferences. I'm sure they may have tried to steer you into a better choice that would have been a more long-term solution for you. Most of them understand basic instrument construction and know which brands and products are prone to breaking, warping, etc. I'm sure in their own way they were trying to help you. read more

So I went into this Guitar Center on Friday because I wanted to suprise my boyfriend he had been talking about this keyboard and I wanted to get it for him without him knowing. I am not privy to the flow of this business so I went to the front first and asked for assistance on the keyboard they directed me to the left. I went to the left and was directed to where the keyboards were located. I walked up to the desk and the guy didn't say hello or anything he said one second with a nonchalant attitude and continued helping another gentleman. After he walked off and never came back from helping the guy I was put on hold for, another guy came to me and asked do you need help I said yes please he said I have to grab this guy something and I will be right back. He came back but was assisting someone completely new which upset me because after speaking to four different people I still had not been helped. Left the store with no answers and completely annoyed. I went back to the store with my boyfriend tonight and the customer service was the exact same GARBAGE! Everyone was very relaxed like they didn't have customers or 20 minutes left on the clock even up to the manager. As we are trying to make a $2000 purchase they didn't budge or try to help us. This store is ridiculous and I took my service to Sam Ash and they treated us like royalty. With all the money we spend with guitar center it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth about the business given the fact we were treated so poorly. Thanks for nothing! read more

Was in there earlier trying to spend money. Couldn't find anyone interested in selling me anything. They were all "busy"....which consisted of two guys jacking with a keyboard. Remember MARS music? Apparently they don't. Sad to see such a horribly run establishment. Hate to have to order from amazon but just did and I'll get the merchandise faster then waiting on these clowns. This is a good location. I was helped out by a nice girl named Trish. I don't usually spend a lot of time in music retail stores because I feel they tend to be over priced for what you get but I find that at Guitar center you can find some great deals. They even sell used gear now if you don't want to shell out the cash for new stuff. I also like the fact that they leave you alone to browse if you're not sure what you want. They sold me on a device that was twice as much as the one I was going to purchase and had given me false information regarding the functionality of this device. I discovered this after the return window, because I was traveling. The manager kept repeating Guitar Center's return policy as if I didn't hear him one of the 15 times. He also asked why I didn't bring the device with me on my trip. From now on, I will go in to preview and then order on Amazon where customer service exists. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Daughter took lessons there without issue for a year. Creepy manager looked my wife up on Facebook and started sending her unwanted messages. The workers do a poor job of communicating what is returnable and what is not. Before you buy anything make sure you read the return policy online. I figured it was a fluke, so I went back again today. Same story. In fact, the guy who helped me yesterday saw me, said hi and then went to work on something else without ever asking if I needed help. So I stood, trying to make eye contact with fraternizing employees to no avail. I held items. I even sat down at one point near the front counter. Nothing. So I left. I am very pleased with the mandolin and his customer service. Customer service is a lost art these days at many businesses. I am glad this location still knows how to treat a repeat customer. i normally come up here to sell old equipment and everyone is usually super nice i love the guys up here i really do but today i was rubbed very wrong by a gentleman i have not encountered before. he was a younger white male with very long hair and a beard, i wasn't greeted or even told hello , i was immediately denied and told "i'm just not gonna buy it." in a very rude and quick tone of voice , i felt as if he was annoyed/bothered by my presence which is a first given how cool everybody usually is when i come here. when i asked for a reason as to why they didn't purchase this high dollar reflection filter (for a microphone) i was told by this gentleman that it was because "he didn't want to. and they didn't take accessories" and when i asked why he was being so hostile toward me i was told to "get the F#%* out. i then proceeded to leave and told him i've never been treated like this before and i do not plan on coming back as long as he has a job there. i felt like i was being hackled and talked down to just for trying to sell something so it could get better use than sitting in my room and collecting dust. it really is unfortunate and fairly sad because a place that i connect to good experiences now has me very upset and conflicted and i'm not sure if guitar center is hiring friendly employees whos job i thought was to be helpful and polite. like i said i have had nothing but good experiences prior to meeting this gentleman specifically. i didn't catch his name but i'm also not looking to get anyone in trouble either. but i will most definitely not be coming back and i would not recommend this place to anyone else! read more

Absolutely no customer service in this place at all I've gone here for the last time. Half the time I go there I cannot get waited on. Today I walk in I walk all over the store looking for travel bags for a Ukulele....there are at least 8 people working there and no one else in the place no one tries to help me. Finally I walk up to a guy and ask where I might find one, they have one Ukulele travel bag...for sale. I decide ok...since there is only one I'll get it, I walk up to the counter and place it on the counter, the guy behind the cash register looks at me and walks away across the whole store to a guy playing a bass guitar and starts helping him. We came in for Keyboard/Piano lessons for my 13 year old son. Seemed OK at first (3 lessons) and my son enjoyed the lessons, then the problems began. We would come in for our scheduled lesson and the instructor would not be there. They said that we need to change our scheduled day. We did. No instructor again on the first day of our new schedule. They would go into their computer schedule and look to find out that someone had deleted our date or moved to another date but never asked or informed us. I asked for them to simply credit me for the missed lesson. They couldn't do that. Said that we need to re-schedule the missed lesson so we tried. Again no instructor. They also are incompetent in their billing. They require a recurring credit card billing but the date and amount would vary each month. This place is a joke. The manager is in his mid twenties at most and isn't capable of handling a managers position. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere unless you are simply buying guitar strings. If I could give less than one star I would. read more

Done with Guitar Center. I went in to sell a couple of used but pristine guitars in original packaging with hang tags etc... I stood at the front counter waiting to be acknowledged and watching a salesperson refuse to even look for a box for a guys new Epi Les Paul ( didn't come with a case). The guy asked if there was any way he would not have to just carry his new guitar raw out of the store. The sale dude responded sorry, I just threw the box away. Ha, What a jerk. I would not have bought that guitar.The kid was obviously trying to up sell a case, GC has boxes coming out of their asses. I was sent over to the kid at accessories to evaluate my guitars. He said he couldn't find them on their computer. I pulled it up on my phone on GC 's website in 10 seconds. He wasn't interested. He then decided to check out several people buying a set of strings each. When he got back to me he said that he found them on ebay going for $300.00. A little low but thats the name of the game. I don't expect GC to go broke or loose money on any of their deals. This is a retail $400.00 guitar. I figured I get maybe 150.00 to 175.00 out of it.GC would then mark it for 279-329. The Kid told me since they are $300 on ebay he would have to mark it at $179.00 so he could give me half of that $80.00??? HA! I'd love to be able to find any used equipment in excellent (his words) condition at a GC for less than 50% of actulal retail. DOESN'T HAPPEN. This is on top of my last experience where I bought a new guitar, hardshell case an amp, an ME 80 and some other bits and pieces. The salesman was more interested in playing badass for his friend that was there buying literally one set of drumsticks than help me. read more
