Been going here for 15 years I think. This past week I had a band in from Boston to shoot 2 music videos. We went to GC to rent a kit, amps etc for the shoot. Enter Chris. Rude form the Jump. Just bothered that he had to work with us. We asked if they had a Marshall Stack. He said no. I asked if he could check the other stores (I'm standing there with the lead singer of the band and the drummer) Chris says "you can check that yourself". He knew he had said the wrong thing. I walked out to the teaching area, called SIR and booked everything there. Came back and told the band we were leaving. Turns out of course after I left the room he check on his computer just like I had asked him to do. GC has a rep for failed musicians and this guy was it. SIR bent over backwards to help us and guitar center lost a 600$ rental. read more

I'm familiar with this location. I've been shopping there since The Wherehouse was located across the street from The Galleria at South Bay. Haven't been to this location in a while. Came down there Yesterday to grab a pair of Roland Black Series TRS cables in 10'. Plus I wanted to use my GC credit card to buy something cheap so Synchrony Bank won't close my account for non-usage. Online stock showed availability at this location. I also called to confirm stock of 6, by a employee who answered the phone and misrepresented stock availability of the Black Series Once I got here, I was helped by Chris B. He informed me that they were sold out "for a while" and recommended the Livewire Advantage brand. He said that they were almost as great as the Roland Black Series. So I got them. As I needed a stereo set of quality TRS cables for tracking purposes, immediately. I've been trying them out on the DP32SD, since yesterday. They work as they should. read more

( Selling Gear) Don't come here to sell your gear you'll feel like you're being put on a trial for a crime. Brandon is a tool who works on the intake and his goal and anybody else's here is to shake you down any which way they can to give you the lowest dollar possible. It's almost hilarious how horrible he made me feel when I came in there. There was games being played with me where he shows you the computer and pretends he's showing you an accurate return but in reality he isn't. He doesn't remember me I came in months ago and he did the same thing but aware of his techniques I questioned him about his pricing and he raised his offer. I never sold my item to him because of how much a fucking dick head he was, fuck that asshole. They play games, they're dishonest with there ways to get your equipment. They will eventually turn over the equipment to someone else and selling for top dollar. They say they give you 60% or what it's worth but in reality when they give you there idea of what it's worth they basically pay you 10% of what it's worth. Don't fall for the trap guys go somewhere else or sell it yourself on Craigslist or Reverb. And word of advice to Brandon, stop being a tool man. The company you work for will fire your ass in a minute, your loyalty doesn't mean shit. You're just another number my friend and your day of karma is racking up. What do you get? $20 an hour? OK let's say even if you got a $50 an hour, your worth is worthless to your company. They don't even probably value you as an employee probably the reason why you act like a horrible person. Suggested the right kind of tuners and took the time to explain the importance in investing in quality parts for a quality guitar. He even replaced my E string on my red Ovation. Their return policy specifically says they charge 10% for returns on apple products that don't have there original packaging . There's nothing stating about there other products or that there's a "15% discretion " company charge as the employee stated. . People/ businesses are full of it. And at the end the receipt says 10% and impossible to read the transaction. read more

I called down here today at 4:16 asking if there was someone who restring a violin. I was told that the only tech had gone to lunch and that he would be back in 45 minutes. I get here around 645 and ask the person by the desk sitting down by the sign about lessons where we would go to get help about restringing a violin. We got walked over to the help desk. We were told that the person will let us know if we have to purchase a new set or strings or use the ones that we brought. While we were waiting a guy comes over and asks had we already been helped. We let him know once again we were there to see about getting a violin restrung. He said that he does my think that the guy deals with violins. He only deals with guitars. He then asks the repair tech if he knows how to work on guitars. This was a complete waste of my time and gas. Review for BRANDON. The reason why I'm giving this two stars is because it DID have what I needed. The missing three is for customer service. This is the second time I've been here and the customer service was not good. The first time we stood there and waited before even being acknowledged for about 20 minutes. Today we come in and during the payment process, the signal was bad so it took our tap pay a little longer and BRANDON asked did we need more time because there's more people here that needed to be helped. There was only one person waiting. What I should have said was "BRANDON, you can go and help them and I'll take my service elsewhere" but in the moment you're not thinking. I don't like how rushed we felt during the payment process just because there were other people there. They're not spending money right now, we are. Also when asking questions about the products, they were barely answered. I still gave my business but never again. No personality no enthusiasm. Just rushed. I shouldn't leave the house and feel worse about coming outside because people have a bad attitude. Brandon needs to work on his attitude because he is stopping you guys from receiving further business. We will be going to Sam Ash next time. read more

Haven't been to this place in YEARS (since my last bad experience) A couple of weeks ago, I was around the area and thought I'd stop by to check it out. I saw a Taylor guitar that I liked on sale, priced at $1699 which expires at 3/23/22 (see the pic). I came back today (3/19/22) ready to purchase it but noticed that the tag was gone. I asked one of the associates (curly haired guy) and he said the price is now $1999 (which is retail price). I mentioned that it was on sale for $1699 and he insisted that it's now at retail but he can give me a discount for $1799. Still $100 more than what was on the price tag. He left shortly after, before I could show him the pic. So I spoke to another associate (bald guy) and showed him the pic, where it clearly says the sale expires on 3/23/22 but he too insisted that the sale is over. I didn't end up buying the guitar since they won't honor the sale. I was already in the store so I thought I'd grab a guitar stand (for a new taylor guitar I bought from Sam Ash a couple of days ago lol) And when we got to the counter, no one was there. Literally no one was around in sight. We stood there for a few minutes. Where are all the associates? There's maybe like 3 other people in the store, it's not like it's super busy. A few minutes later an older guy (african american) worker sees us standing in front of the counter with the items on the counter, and asks us "do you need help?" my wife asked if the counter is open, and he responded with asking the same question but in an annoying way like "Do. You. Need. Help?" like we didn't understand him the first time. So I said yes and he called for someone to help us. Anyway, this experience reminded me why I haven't been going to this store. And let me just say that it's crazy to see this place hasn't changed a bit in the last few years. Not going back here again (at least for the next 5 years lol) Also since my last review, I had built my own home studio, bought a drum set, bought a few high end guitars and other instruments from either Sam Ash or Sweetwater. I've only spent money on GC (different location) for cheap items like strings and small accessories etc. But I guess those small item purchases too, will now go to one of those 2 stores. If GC keeps it up with bad service, I promise this: Sweetwater will take over. (If you have not purchased anything from sweetwater yet, I suggest to give them a shot. Come here whenever I need any live or recording equipment. As of late I just order what I need online and pick up due to Covid. They have a pretty good selection of gear to test out. Especially when it comes to live audio it's super helpful test out anything before dropping a lot of cash. They would go the same with the other departments I would believe. The parking situation for me is pretty easy most of the time. I usually go towards the end of my work days so parking up front is not hard. They have parking in the rear where you can also set up your curbside pickup. read more

I recently bought a Ranefour controller from Guitar center, and got excellent service. When I first tried the controller, there was a weird echo sound only from channel one. I emailed Rane, got some basic things to check, but that didn't resolve the issue. I called Guitar Center and talked to Dorian (hope I got the spelling of his name correct), explained the issue and he told me he uses the same controller and he could bring his personal laptop to work and I could plug in my controller to see if it was an issue with my laptop or controller. I showed up the next day, and as promised Dorian brought his laptop and we quickly diagnosed the issue (my laptop...). It was great to call and actually get to talk to a person, and someone that knew the product and was willing to help. Thanks to Guitar Center and Dorian for getting this handled quickly!!! read more

When I came up to the register to purchase the item I came for the person behind the register was trying to send me to the audio section to make my purchase when he could easily ring me up himself. They sold me a broken guitar and would not fix it. They had done a horrible repair on the guitar and sold it to me. The repair broke just days after my expensive purchase. When I went in and told them what happened they said they would not help me because the guitar was sold as is. That would have been ok if the repair was done correctly but it was not so I feel extremely taken advantage of. I've been looking at getting a new mixer for about a month now and I was finally ready to make my purchase. I went to the Hollywood location twice and I've also gone to 2 other places. I just happen to be in the area and saw this this store so I figured I would go in and grab the mixer I wanted. You would think it would be simple but literally noone spoke to me. I feel very disappointed and sadden with our 2nd visit to this location. A couple month prior my husband and I visited this location in hopes to find our podcast equipment and found that it needed our expectations as all of the equipment on display worked perfectly. This time around we were ready to purchase our podcast equipment and wanted to verify the quality of the equipment we had chosen but unfortunately all of their displays were broken When we asked the gentleman in the department if we could have another headset to plug in, he said that he didn't have the keys and wouldn't be able to do that for us. when I asked when they were going to be fixed he also didn't have an answer and when I asked for a manager he mention that the manager wasn't in So I asked What the return policy was and he mentioned that it was two weeks but I felt that there was information missing so I asked is there a restocking fee which he then said yes so it's not like we can take them home and try them and return them without a penalty I was so excited to try out the equipment again and leave the shop with our bags filled but unfortunately that was not the case today read more

My husband came in here to buy a guitar and wanted to go as a family, to include his kids in the experience. While trying out the guitar he intended to purchase a women named Bri came up and turned off his amp. We asked if he could go in a private room to test out the guitar and this african women started fighting and yelling at us, very trashy and extremely unprofessional. If you've been into a guitar store you know they are loud and my husband merely wanted to opportunity to hear the guitar he was buying. We will not be going back to this location and they lost a sale from this women's conduct and behavior. She continued to scream and argue with us in front of our three young kids as we proceeded to leave due to her attitude and tone with us. If you can't take loud music, don't work at a guitar store. I will not go back to this location unless this women is reprimanded for her conduct. Just unbelievable!!!! read more

I bought a pair of KRK 5 Speakers in January 2021 and went to return one of them a year later due to weak sound/signal. I purchased the warranty but brought it back without the box - it looked brand new but never played full volume/quality. I forget the name of the guy who helped me, but he was on the phone with KRK tech support for 45 minutes. They transferred him more than once and put him on hold before getting the model # and story about the return etc. Not once did he complain or act irritated. Obviously I did not want to be waiting there for that long, but I really appreciate that he held his composure and did his job. While that may not be a big deal to others, I view that as great customer service. I will continue going to Guitar Center for all of my music gear. read more

My boyfriend and I have come to this guitar center many times in the past to fuel his bands and this time is the first we ever ventured off to the drum section. We were greeted almost immediately by associate Alec, who seemed to be the go to guy as all employees continuously asked him questions while he helped no less than three customers at a time. Alec was very helpful in the process of choosing an electronic drum set for us to bring home and put all our aggressions about the 405 FWY traffic. Lol. I know, shocker right? Not sure why I keep returning to this establishment but took my son there today as he had a gift card to spend. All we needed was a new drum head and a cymbal. We waited about an hour for anyone to speak to us only to find out the cymbal key had been lost. Not a care in the world and there were multiple employees sitting around doing nothing. Not necessarily the employees fault, they're just not paid enough to care. In fact it was a repair guy who did try to help us so kudos to him, not his "job" but saw we were getting restless. Went home with a disappointed 8 year old, but bought the gear online in a few seconds and will remember not to return. so many online options at this point, why waste my time with poor customer experiences. read more
