Norman Guitar Center has always had great service. It can be slow when they are busy, but that's to be expected. I have had to return two items to this store that I ordered online, both times the service was quick and helpful. Most recently, I had an issue with a guitar I purchased form the online store. I get most of my guitar stuff here. Prices are competitive. They have the best selection of guitars, bass, and amps in this area. Customer service can be sketchy sometimes. I like going there just to look at the guitars. They have some beauties. Bought a nice Taylor there. They also have a decent selection of amps. I got my Boss Katana on sale there. It's terrible there. They barely have anything I need. And they get antsy whenever you touch anything. They followed me around the store the last time I was there. Staff needs to back off sometimes, I know shoplifting is a thing but I don't need to feel like I'm being watched whenever I'm testing keys. read more

I honestly get the store ratings, because the actual store layout is as frustrating as Home Depot on a busy day. The noise decibels and confusion of sounds can be as off- putting and disturbing as standing on the side of a major highway at rush hour; Just cannot concentrate. However, the staff is just as frustrated with the layout. My goal was to hear the voicing of several Martin D-18, 28, 35s. I was definitely buying. I'd called ahead. Staff knew I was coming and ready. Not an easy task ahead of me. The guy who organized this trial was a highly skilled guitarist, and he tried his best to find spaces to accommodate my needs. So, the staff is amazing, but the company's approach is Walmart. 5 stars for staff and 2 stars for store. To be fair, good selection and clean. Just brutally noisy. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with Guitar Center, they have great stuff, and I buy strings from them all the time, but they are a little pricy. I recently bought some strings from a new brand, D'addario strings. I had seen them but never bought their strings before, and so when I got the pack, I went online and found that the price with shipping is the same as Guitar Center's. I love their selection. They have multiple great quality guitars, but some of their things, such as foot stools and books, can be better bought on Amazon. I love the store and would recommend them if you have the money. But if you are cheap, then Amazon has a cheaper and larger selection on certain things. I do love the staff they are very insightful and let you play most guitars. They also can be very helpful, but some can be nothing more than salesmen, just trying to make a sale. Experience really depends on who helps you and what you are buying. read more

The manager Austin will try and take advantage of your used gear trade-in or reselling. The difference between what he quoted me and what a different associate actually bought gear in for was hundreds. He is only out to get over on you and make as much money as he can. Just a side note the guitar tech never has what I need to fix my guitars. He acts as if it's a foreign concept when you ask about specific parts etc. read more

So I guess it's too much to ask for a complementary set up on a purchase that totaled 3800 keep in mind I've spent north of 6500 in this store over the previous 12 months this doesn't count the purchase made at the OKC location that's easily another 2 grand All this shows me is you really have no concept of customer retention or give any thought to maintaining good relationships with customers Par for the course I guess you won't mind then when I take my business to the independent that insisted on me bring back my Tele after setting it up to begin wiafter a day or two to make sure the action and neck were perfect oh and that guitar was slightly less than half what I paid for the Gibson I guess your tech and management at the Norman location were oblivious to the fact that most of the universe expects service after the sale Honestly 50bucks doesn't even generate a second thought most days but boy does the principle of being gouged and not being taken care of oh and by the way the second guitar case I had in my hand was a pre-owned piece that needed some adjustments that I would have gladly paid whatever it took to get right and tight In closing I hope you understand your technician and whatever policy and procedure you have in place definitely makes loyal customers SOME WHERE ELSE Hey maybe You should take the time and effort to figure out who I am and how to get in contact with me rather than suggest I jump through more hoops are you really that delusional and arrogant to think I would go through the effort I guess you really do want to be the Walmart of musical instruments ****UPDATE***** So the store manager reached out and rather than address the situation proceeded to imply that all this was my fault so now that I am contemplating a couple of very high end Gibson Custom Shop and Gretsch Custom Shop purchases I know where I won't do business read more

I purchased a guitar from this store via the GC.com website. The sale went through, my credit card was charged, and confirmation was received. Apparently the guitar somehow sold twice, and they decided to not honor my purchase. It's really quite a frustrating experience which was only exacerbated and compounded by the poor customer service. This isn't the first time this has happened to me, it's just the first time I decided express my dissatisfaction with whatever archaic POS system they're using to navigate their multi-million dollar operation. read more

Great place. So happy I went in. I took my guitar in and talked to Geoff. My situation was, my guitar had an issue but the guitar was a cheapy I bought from Amazon. So I was trying to decide if I should just buy a new one or do something with the guitar i had. Geoff listened to what I was saying and turned me toward having it tuned up and replacing the pickups. Im a beginner so buying an expensive new guitar doesn't make any sense until I decide of im going to stick with it. Turns out the guitar now sounds as good as a $1000 + guitar and it only cost me a couple hundred bucks. What I like the most about this location is Geoff could have sold me a $500 to $800 guitar but instead he did the right thing and saved me a lot of money. I am an amateur musician living in Sulphur, OK, and was on my way to Norman to check out Halloween costumes and decided to drop my 7 string guitar off for a setup. As soon as my friend and I walked in the door, we were immediately approached by people eager to help us and inquire about our desires. They were very kind, very polite and made us feel important; I felt like a rock star, even though I'm irrelevant. The technician who set my guitar up did a top notch job on the instrument, and I have enjoyed playing it so much lately that I actually made my fingertips sore. This location, primarily the staff there, is about the best anyone could ever ask for in an honorable, competent, and respectful business. Royalty. I am happy to be the first person to write a review on these guys, and they really earned it. read more

So Im in town for a few days and I figured Id stop by and get a temporary rig and when I walked in the guys were nice and greeted me. They helped me get what I needed even though they knew I was going to bring it back. Big thanks to Geoff and his manager for being super helpful and informative. 10/10 would shop again. read more

I placed an order for a drum set for my kids 16th Birthday two weeks before I needed them after three orders once in the store and twice thru customers service. I had to cancel because they did not have the items in stock, even thought they assured me they were available. I am disappointed and have no drums for the Birthday boy. read more
