But they always have a great selection. The customer service today was outstanding! Called in about renting some simple audio equipment for my wedding. The rep took my name and number and said Evan the rental guy would call me back (after I was on hold for 10 minutes). Now over a week later and Evan never called. I just called the store back, and was put on hold for over 15 minutes waiting for the rental department. Phone keeps rining, but no one answers. I am really frustrated with this location. I visited yesterday because the Mayfield Heights store didn't have what I was interested in available for demo, so I decided to check here. This was my first time back at this location in over 10 years, and I am so disappointed with how I was treated. No one even greeted me as I walked into the store or asked what I was looking for, so I just proceeded back to the drum department, which was completely vacant of any employees or other customers. I had been interested in testing a few of the higher-end electronic drum kits, as well as an acoustic kit with Remo's Silent Stroke drumheads with Zildjian's new reduced volume cymbals, as I am going to be moving somewhere that sound is an issue. I really would've liked to have discussed the different options and the pros/cons of each type of set-up, but no one ever came in, other than one employee who popped his head in removed the drum throne from the low-volume acoustic kit without even acknowledging me. I was in there for roughly 30 minutes and was completely ignored, even when I briefly played the full-volume acoustic kit that was on display, hoping that the sound would draw the attention of a salesman. Nothing... I then went to look at bass guitars, as I am also looking at into learning it and want to purchase a starter/intermediate bass. I am a lefty, and only saw one used lefty bass that was too high up on the rack for me to reach, and once again, no one ever came over to help. I then picked-up and looked at a right-handed version of the Ibanez SR 305 just to see how I liked it, as I have been looking at that particular 5 string bass online and watching reviews of it, but still no one came over to talk to me. When I finally had enough and walked out of the store, I saw that there were practically no customers around at all, but there were multiple salesmen standing around. No one ever said bye or asked if I found what I was looking for. Nothing at all... Very disappointing, and whoever manages this place needs to hold their employees accountable and make sure they're actually doing their job. As you can see by the other reviews, I'm not the only person who has had this problem here. There's a reason that the massive online retailers like Sweetwater are becoming increasingly popular, because the physical chain music shops like Guitar Center have poor customer service and limited inventory. I like to try to shop in-person and demo stuff before I buy it, but it's just so hard in this day-and-age where physical retail and customer service are on the quick decline. I picked up a wonderful-looking set of headphones from a garage sale recently, but without its obscure cable. Guitar Center's website did not necessarily list this cable for sale, but I arrived to the store anyway. No luck finding the cable - though, funny enough, the pair of headphones I had acquired was on sale here, brand new. Despite no luck in finding my particular cable, I figured I would ask. (I did have to wait a bit for an associate to arrive, but I understand that happens!) Once he did, I explained my situation. He wasn't able to find the cable in the store's inventory, so... he unboxed a new pair of the headphones, gave me the cable I needed while explaining something about how they can order new ones, and told me to have a good day. Unfortunately, in my blissful shock, I did not register this man's name. I know he was wearing a red shirt for certain had dark hair, and was working around 7 PM today. I believe he was wearing khaki shorts and had a beard, but I cannot be certain. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves for going one step further than necessary (and I hope he does not get in any sort of trouble. This man did wonders for my day for a cable I probably wouldn't be able to obtain in a store by any other means). I will happily return to Guitar Center to fulfill any further audio needs. read more

Brought in two older acoustics for their platinum setup. They needed a good amount of love and adjustment. Jordan the tech handling my repairs was timely and very knowledgeable. I recieved both guitars back in beautiful condition and they're both a joy to play. Even with the dismissal of the layaway program Guitar center is still a necessary evil. It definitely bites to not be able to put half down on a 400 dollar instrument and come back in a week with the other half. Unfortunately most of the other smaller shops in the greater Cleveland area are either mom and pop and just don't cater to the metal crowd, or are owned by guitar center and don't cater to the metal crowd. If you're losing money the way to recover it is not by gauging musicians on their used gear and keeping an entire class of them from being able to afford decent gear. They ain't your friend. I had a great experience recently at the North Olmsted store. I am loyal to this location because of their consistently high quality customer service and very fair and competitive pricing (the fact is, with the ease of pulling out your cell phone to quickly compare prices, all stores who hope to compete really have to price competitively in order to earn business). This visit, I was most impressed by their newest employee--her name is Olivia. As we chatted, she exuded confidence in product knowledge (and using the story's point of sale computer register. When I asked how long she had worked there, she answered, "This is my fourth day." She listened well, applied just the right amount of urge to try to sell me a guitar, and treated me kindly and professionally. As far as in-store purchases go, Olivia has earned me as a loyal client. Finally approached by a sales person in the drum department who claimed to be sending a sales associate to the guitar section. Never happened. My son bought the guitar without an offer to hear it. I was at the North Olmsted Guitar Center was there where they had the guitars no one came to see if I needed help the a young man came in and I asked him if he worked there he said yea but he worked in the back room and asked if I needed help he would get me a sales men I told him yea I was looking to buy a guitar a Martin to be exact he went out the room and asked someone he came back and said they will be with you in a min so I wanted an hour later still no one it wasn't like the store was busy only like 3 customers walking around I saw sales staff one was sitting by the register and another was appeared to be just walking around neither appeared to be with a customer so I went and asked again after waiting for that first hour they said when we have a min so I waited another hour nobody came. I was in the store for about 2 hours 45 min and not one time did anyone ask me if I needed help or come in after being asked for help I was very disappointed I was planning on making a big purchase at guitar center but after my exseriance there I don't feel I can trust a company who will not take care of there customers I don't think I will take my business there again and yes I have made several purchases at the store in the past but the staff they have don't seem to care think you need to hire people that do or you are going to loose a lot of business if you haven't already read more

My husband and I stopped in to Guitar Center on a Saturday afternoon in search of a keyboard. I'm a vocalist, but I needed something simple and affordable to help me in my practicing. When we arrived I saw it was quite busy inside. Employees were very busy running around everywhere to help different customers. I was actually a little happy about this because I didn't want to be pressured by someone into buying a fancier keyboard than I needed. We were able to browse the selection, try different options, and decide on our own. After making our choice I tracked down an employee at the front desk (Tyler) who came and helped us right away. He asked if we need a power source, and I'm thankful he did, because that's something I didn't think about. He tracked down what we needed and checked us out. He asked if we wanted a warranty, and he was able to answer all my questions about it without pressuring me. Tyler was super helpful, professional, and efficient, and I'm thankful he was the one to help us. We were very satisfied with our experience and will definitely be back to this location for our future music needs! read more

I wanted to learn to play guitar. Went to a guitar center store and bought a Fender dreadnought and played it for about 6 months. Found it to large and tough to learn on. Went back and traded it in and got a Taylor grand mini. No questions and a good trade in value. Played it for about a month and found it to small for me. Good sounding and playability but just to small. I returned it for almost 100% of what I paid and got a Taylor Academic 12e. Like the three bears, this one was just right! The point Is no hassle, courteous employees, and very good instruments in all price ranges. I am a customer forever. read more

I would definitely recommend this place if: a) you're a musical dummy and you need some help b) you're an ok musician and you want to be left alone I was looking for a used guitar and was able to browse myself without anyone hounding me. But then, as soon as I needed assistance, they were there in the friendliest way. They suggested things without doing that annoying "you NEED this" spiel that people tend to do when they have to sell you extra crap (like the mini socks and stain protection I never got from Journeys - no thank you). On and off through the years, I get a bug to scratch my (very) amateur musician itch. Now that I have GarageBand on my Mac and iPad, it's come up again. And many times since the 80s, I go into a Guitar Center for help and advice, to see equipment (keyboards and synths usually), and get that "hands-on" experience. And many times since the 80s, a trip to a Guitar Center -- whether it be Ohio or California, wherever I happened to be at the time -- felt like a chore. Hard to get someone's attention, hard to find someone who is empathetic to my plight as "forever amateur". I had three goals: check out some entry level keyboard controllers I'd looked at online, see if there was any value to selling my old keyboard, and take a look and compare two more expensive synths in person, to see if either is something I'll eventually want to sink money and time into. I came in on a lark on Saturday around noon, so it was busy. I found some of what I was looking for, but I needed assistance. Kenny (Kenneth W P) saw my lost look and came out to help me. I rattled off my situation and he pointed me in the right direction. When I asked something he wasn't sure about, he brought over Sam (Samuel K). Sometimes being a nearly 50 year old guy dealing with "young ones" can be frustrating and/or intimidating (think of the horrors of Best Buy), but these two were the coolest, most helpful cats I've _ever_ dealt with in 3 decades of being a prodigal GC customer. I got my questions and my hands-on, never was made to feel stupid or unimportant, and they set me up with just the right product (IK Irig Keys plus 2 year plan) for a price better than any I'd seen online the night before. I hadn't even planned on buying anything that day (Christmas and all), but it was a great deal. And at no time did I get the hard sell. I could have walked away buying nothing, but still got the impression that either of them would be happy to help me again when the time was right. I got a killer deal, I felt like an important customer, Sam encouraged me to come back for some GarageBand courses you have, and I know when the time comes to buy that synth (Mininova or a MicroKorg XL) in two or three months, I'll be heading right back to this store. It feels rare to get an exceptional customer service experience these days, but Kenny and Sam made sure I got two. They almost made the shopping for music equipment as fun and satisfying as actually playing with it, and that's the ideal experience someone should have at a place like GC. read more

When I went back to ask a question about the failed trade-in, the employees walked into the back and did not come out until I left the area. I literally walked in this place excited to spend money. After not being asked if I needed help while playing several instruments, I finally went and try to make a quick purchase. The store doesn't honor any online coupon and even with me trying to buy the floor model would not incentivize it whatsoever. The staff didn't particularly care and it seems that the branch ownership doesn't either and I left not spending money. Really disappointing experience and none of the staff made me feel warm about wanting to purchase. Unbelievable to have a negative experience when I was planning on going home with an instrument. The store has a decent inventory, although their vocal books are almost non existent. The low rating is for the complete and utter lack of customer service. I have been to this location a number of times with my husband who is a professional musician, otherwise I wouldn't set foot in this place. I have experienced only neglect and severe rudeness from the staff. What happened to customer services? We went there yesterday in hope to buying a guitar for my son. It wasn't busy at all. Went to the acoustic guitar section and started looking for a guitar. There was a employee there playing with one of them who never came to see if I needed any assistance. He was too busy jamming away in his own world. I then approach him and asking for advice. I guess I was interrupting his session. He got up, got one off the wall and handed me a guitar and basically said get this one without any reasons as to why this particular model. He then just left right away and went back to continue playing as if I was bothering him with his session. This is indeed poor customer service. I will now take all my businesses to Sam Ash instead. Ordered a guitar online as an Easter gift. The guitar clearly stated in stock and ready to ship same day. Also stated delivered in 3 to 5 days. Six days later my account is showing the guitar as backordered. When I check the website it still shows the guitar as in stock though.
