Every time I've called, they placed me on hold immediately after they pick up the phone. They don't ask if I can hold they say please hold and just have you stuck there for however long the phone allows until it automatically calls the store again. Then they do the same thing, answer the phone: "please hold" and keep doing that until you give up it seems. I get it, they might be assisting a customer at the time of someone calling but this happens every time I've called which is rare. Ten years ago i would have rated this store 2 or 3 stars, but in the last two years, they've really turned around in terms of customer service. Staff are helpful and friendly, and willing to show and demo things for me. However, as another reviewer pointed out, a few times I've gone in to look at something specific (banjos) and they were all missing most of their strings. Overall though, this location is pretty good. Prices are fair/ equal to other mass retailers, and I'm planning to pop in and check out a few things in the next week or so and will probably buy. read more

I drove all the way from North Hollywood to pick up a used speaker that they said was in stock and ready for pick up. When I showed up, it turned out that it was the wrong model. They tried to blame the Las Vegas store... saying that store received the item into inventory and coded it wrong, but the items were returned to this location. But... don't the employees at this location have eyes? B212XL is a different model number than B215D. They could have easily figured out that they did not have the right model and canceled the order... or at least not sent me an email alerting me that the item was ready for pick up. I would recommend not coming to this store if you're expecting customer service.. read more

We purchased 4 lessons for my son and from the start wr gad problems. When I purchase a product from guitar Center I occasionally like to go inside and play the acoustic guitars. And I would say that the stores by far is the worst when it comes to replacing strings. Almost every guitar I picked up had coroded or rusty strings and this makes for a bad experience specially, if your a new guitar player and looking to buy your first guitar. I'm a recent returning customer to Guitar Center after several years of shopping from an online competitor. I'd be remiss not to express how satisfied and impressed I am now after my return. I purchased an Anthem pick-up and had them install it on my Martin D15M. Andrew, the guitar tech, is excellent! He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. His craftsmanship is absolutely amazing. The wires were ran perfectly, and the install was flawless. He installed new strings and adjusted the saddle and string height perfectly. The guitar was flawless and also had been wiped down after the repair. No doubt Andrew takes pride in his work. Based on my latest experience, I'm dropping my relationship with the competitor and will be bringing my Taylor 320 in for an Anthem pick-up soon!! Also, Daniel and his management team are very professional, responsive, and obviously believe in providing excellent customer service. My daughter was taking keyboard lessons with the guitar center and the staff was very frustrating to deal with. We were charged for lessons that THEY canceled. When we talked to the manager Alex we were told that she would receive makeup lessons for the mistakes that they made. We never received the makeup lessons and we were treated like liars. I have never felt so unwelcome in a business before. Lauren who is in charge of lessons was very hard to get ahold of and multiple times we were left on hold for a frustratingly long time until we had to call back and got told she was either on lunch or not there and to call back. When I asked for a refund for the lessons we hadn't used yet I was told they are not able to do refunds and had to finish out her lessons or we would just lose out on the money. I would never recommend going here, there are a lot of other music stores around that will provide you with great lessons and service and also appreciate your business. read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE We pre-ordered sound equipment and went to the store to pick it up. When we arrived it took over 45 minutes to check out. The clerk was nice enough, he just didn't have the proficiency to find the order and process the check out. Several mistakes were made and he blamed the cash register (he said it was old software). We moved to another register and checked out again. I left with many receipts, both credit and debit. I won't know if I was charged correctly until I receive my cc bill. The next day I called their Customer Service Manager, Alexander Caceres. Sadly, he was not interested in hearing about our issue. and offered no help. read more

Guitar Center PALMDALE - We had promised our granddaughter a guitar right before Covid hit. We were shocked that there was no place available for her to try a guitar and pick the best one. She is 15 years old, short, and left-handed. We wanted to make sure that she had, the one most suited for her. We were very excited today to go into the Guitar Center and finally pick her guitar. We were greeted at the front desk and ushered into a room at 4:05 PM where we were told there would be somebody to help us. A young man came to help and at 4:15 PM he told us that he was supposed to be off the clock, and someone else would be in to help us. We waited around for another 10 minutes and no one came in. Standing around the registers were seven other employees, easily talking amongst themselves and nobody was available to help. We left and I will not return. If I have to drive 300 miles to find somebody that is willing to take our money and provide a service I will do so, but I will not be back to this business again! read more

Luke was having a bad day during my visit felt compassion for him sucks to get a flat . But he explained what was needed as far as maintaining my daughters acoustic guitar and explained what happened as to why guitar needed repair . But he said a guitar is like an investment and good maintenance goes a long way. Thanks look for your help sorry about your flat tire . Marshal is my go to guy . These two guys know their stuff . Update: Luke re glued my bridge on my Oscar Schmidt Acoustic guitar he did a great job. I will only speak on coming here to buy a (guitar) amplifier: I would not suggest purchasing from or asking for information here. The employees didn't seem to understand the concept of varying signal strengths (between Hi-Z, line level, and speaker level in my case) as I was searching for a cabinet to connect a used 100W guitar amp head to. Being that it was used, the store didn't know if the price was related to the cosmetic or working condition, but they said "we wouldn't sell it without testing everything first." I wanted to hear the amplifier myself, though, and as I started looking for a speaker cabinet to plug it into, I found there wasn't a single one rated for anything near 100W in the entire store. They didn't have a load box either (which left me skeptical about their "testing"). I started looking at different combo amps and checking their speaker impedances (with the store's permission) to try and find something I could connect to in order to test the amp head. When I asked a few more questions about different combo amp speakers on the floor, I was told I was "really tone nitpicking here". (???) In reality, I was just trying to find hardware to properly connect to so as to not damage or break something that wasn't mine. I didn't end up finding a speaker cabinet in the entire store at 8+ ohms to test the amp with, so I went to put the amplifier back where I found it. Right before I gave up, an employee said "we actually have a powered speaker cabinet right here that you can plug into to test it with. We use it all the time" which ended up being a line/Lo-Z/Hi-Z powered amplifier from Positive Grid (and did NOT have a speaker level input). The employee kept encouraging me to turn on the 100W amp head connected with a 1/4" instrument cable (this is also a major no-go) to the preamp of this speaker cabinet they were about to turn on. I said blatantly "if this blows this (guitar) amplifier or ruins this (positive grid) cabinet, I take no responsibility." I told the employee I wasn't going to do it, and I started looking at a couple of other new combo amps that were less of a hassle to deal with. After a few minutes, an employee told me he had just Googled if that setup was proper and was glad we didn't power it up. He said it was weird though, since they apparently "do it all the time there." At that point, I lost confidence in the condition of every amp/speaker/combo the floor and left. I don't like leaving bad reviews or framing things in the way of "see! I was right," but amplifiers are not something to mess around with. High voltage, high heat, and poor knowledge are a recipe for disaster with these things. The employees I dealt with in the store were nice, but I wouldn't trust their level of knowledge with this stuff. Someone is going to either buy a piece of damaged equipment from them or have their equipment damaged during repair. read more

This Guitar Center is the worst one have ever been to. There customer service was poor as there sales person was not very friendly and became more of a smart aleck when I told him I was surprised they wouldn't either give or sale a box for taking an acoustic base guitar. The other lady at the desk on the right ne'er the bathroom was not very customer friendly as well. I guess they need all of their old boxes for who knows what other Guitar Centers in Texas, Hawaii, other various states would either sale the boxes for 10 bucks or even give them away. Find another place to get your stuff from what I see they do not deserve our money or patronage. It would be a good place close by to start a shop with good employees to take there customers. Had a bad experience with Guitar Center in Palmdale, California. Wrote a review about it which you can see somewhere. Short story, we bought a guitar for my son (it was a user Fender telecaster). After purchase, they told me they didnt have the guitar, which upset my son very much. When I contacted them, they tried to sell me similar guitars that were all twice the price of the one we bought. When I pointed this out the customer service rep said the only reason that the one we bought was the price it was is because it was a Squier body with a fender neck. It was only advertised as a Fender telecaster and there was not mention anywhere that it had a Squier body. In any case, I wanted to add to this review that the store reached out to see if they could help; however, I was unable to answer. I emailed back to tell them how they could make it right. I had already found the same guitar and I paid the extra money that it cost since this was not my kids fault that the one he found and purchased was not actually available. We made a modest request from Guitar Center and was told that they would contact us back. This was Monday November 18, 2024. They had not responded by Friday, November 22, so I reached out again and they said the store would get back to us soon. It is now Sunday the 24, and I am yet to get any response from Guitar Center on how they will right this unfortunate situation where they not only did not have the guitar we ordered, but also apparently were trying to pass off a guitar with a Squier body and Fender neck as a genuine Fender guitar. Be careful people! Big box stores do not care if they mislead you and they do not want to do anything to fix it when they make mistakes. Support your local music stores! Some staff are very knowledgeable. Selection of instruments are quite limited. Most of the wall is a bunch of $200 starter guitars (which aren't very exciting for recording guitarists) with a few mid-range $700s here and there. One or two high end gibsons and an American fender if you look carefully enough. The bass wall is pretty underwhelming too. Too many low end priced basses and just one MIM fender. Some people are interested in buying their first "pro" instrument and the selection wouldn't give you a good idea of what you want. Acoustic guitar room is pretty decent tho. read more

We purchase piano lessons from them and they charge you on a monthly basis. My daughter went to her first lesson. Then the next three were canceled. Then one again and again another cancellation. I miss one and they charge me for that lesson. I felt completely robbed. A total of three lessons were taken from me without given to me. I definitely would not suggest lessons here!! They give you no reminders. They cancel all the time. It's definitely not a place to take lessons. Go any where else. read more

I'm still baffled over yesterday's visit to this store. For the second time, I was referred away from an in-store purchase to the online store. Are you guys phasing out brick and mortar? Daniel Nesmith (whoever that is) keeps inviting me to the store with savings deals. As I was in need of guitar strings and picks, I intended to stock up on both. The salesman told me that the Ernie Ball strings were only sold as a per unit set. If I were to buy a box, there would be no discount, he told me they would be sold at an individual unit price. Odd, since I have picked up 3-packs of these strings in the past. I mentioned a sale, which he pretended to know nothing about. He told me that there might be a sale at other stores, but not this one. How can that be when all the stores are corporately owned? When I took out my phone to show him my email from Daniel, he suddenly lost interest and walked away.
