They are terrible at getting "back" to you with info you need. You have to call the store yourself to get an answer or else you won't hear back from them. Signed my daughter up for piano lessons last month. Im really enjoying her experience. Her teacher is very patient and informative. They've also just renovated their place so there is a lot more private studio space. I called around for local places to take lessons. Guitar Center is one of the more expensive places but we felt good about the employees. So far so good. We will continue our lessons here with hopes she doesnt lose interest. read more

This location has to be the worst guitar center I've ever been to they don't know anything about what they are selling. Could not answer any questions, but they did know how to try and sell you on a warranty. Never have anyone in the drum area. The worst Selection on anything and very thing. I was in the store for 15 minutes there was only one Customer besides me and no one Greeted me or ask if I need help. I was in the drum area for about 30 minutes and now came to help me. On Sat, November 17, 2018 around 11am, I have to say this was my first time going into a guitar center. I go in being clueless with my 11yr old daughter wanting information on an acoustic guitar. The store is really awesome by the way. I approach the lessons table and ask regarding their lessons. This girl whom was a sweetheart letting me know about their prices and how their lessons take place explains the process. She introduces her Amanda and there was another gentleman that I forgot his name whom was also informative. Amanda then asks us if we want to see the kind of acoustic guitars there are? She shows us this awesome room with all kinds of different acoustic guitars and prices, I was stunned she was so sweet she asks my daughter if she would like to try and play one. So she take a Yamaha guitar down tunes it up for my 11yr.old and let's her play something. She's very attentive and asks her how she felt the strings, then let's my daughter try another different one. All through this is explaining, strings, type of music my daughter like to play etc. I would just like to say Amanda you were great! We need more people like her in customer service locations. I went in there with my daughter to get an idea for her Santa list and definitely going back to purchase the guitar my daughter liked. Thank you again Amanda for making this so much easier. I am a beginner when it comes to playing drums. I am not a musician, it's simply a hobby that like to try and get better at. I was looking to upgrade my kit by getting better heads for all my toms and my snare, getting some new sticks and possibly adding a cymbal and a stand. When I went in, the drum department was pretty dead. I was able to gain some knowledge, get questions answered and purchase exactly what was best for my needs. I was being helped by Jacob. It was nice being able to throw a ton of questions at an employee and get answers to everything that was asked. He was very knowledgeable in drums. He never tried to up-sale me on professional grade equipment. He thoroughly explained everything. Give that dude a raise. I left the store with all new heads, two pairs of sticks, a cymbal stand and a new crash cymbal and I will definitely return for all my drumming needs. read more

I bought an Epiphone EBO Bass guitar used for $229+tax. Later, I saw the same bass for sale new at guitar Center for the same price. I spoke to the manager, Deni (?) and all she could do was offer to order me a new one. I asked about maybe a discount on an amp, no dice. She said wait for the Labor Day coupon. I think Deni and Palmdale guitar center would rather go through the time and expense and replace my bass rather than cut me some slack on a cheesey fender bass amp. So, tomorrow I'm going to return the used bass for a new one. I'll let you know how it goes. read more

This place has been here for a while and, while they don't have many specialty instruments, this is a great place to get a basic electric guitar or bass. They typically have deals all the time, so it is a good idea to get on their mailing list so you can grab their coupons. I've gotten a few instruments for pretty cheap thanks to their e-mails. I've only had one bad experience here when someone who was a bit new decided couldn't figure out how to apply the coupons to my sale. I figured out there was a problem with the final total when I got home, so I had to drive all the way back to fix it. Of course the manager was happy to help out, but having to drive back and forth was a pain. Still, they are a great business and I always love visiting. read more

I bought a electric drum set from this store a week ago. The staff was knowledgable and extremely helpful, as I am a beginner drummer and didn't really know what I needed. I love my drum set so far and I was happy with my service at the time. If I ended the story here I would already be happy to give them a 5 star rating. But it gets better! This weekend there was a sale for President's day and I happened to be in the store again. I saw that the very same drum set I had purchased was now $100 cheaper than what I paid! I thought, "Well that's life" but I thought it was worth asking the associate about my situation. And believe or not, they were able to look up my receipt and refund me the $100 difference on the spot since I bought the drum set so recently. Now that's what I call outstanding customer service. They are slow at performing the simplest tasks and most of them have very little knowledge on the products within the store. My sister went in to give her ukulele to the shop. The kid working who had no personality at all, mumbled some things and then had her stand there for 15 minutes. Then he said there was a computer error so after another 15 minutes the manager finally came to assist her. There was no one in the shop this entire time. I don't think it should take an hour to give up your instrument. It's easier to surrender a baby to fire fighters! read more

These guys are good. I still have memories of the "Attack Guitar Centers" of the 90s where you would be pounced on when you entered and then you couldn't wait to get out of there. I'm glad times and tactics have changed. There is definitely sufficient staff here but they're helpful and not pushy. It's the standard Guitar Center lay-out with about anything you can want musical. Their acoustic guitar "womb/try-out" area in the center of the store is especially impressive. You can really tell they're knowledgeable and serious about it because they have climate control machines in there for the wood guitars. When you go in it almost feels like a chapel with all the beautiful Martins, Taylors, Yamahas, etc., hanging up. I sat in there noddle-ing on a beautiful Martin 12-string and a nice Taylor for about 10 minutes, and someone only popped in once to see if I needed anything and then left me to my playing. Nice. I actually showed up for the FREE Pro-Tools recording classes they teach on Saturday mornings. What a nice value-added thing to do, and the class was very good. The young guy who taught the class obviously knew his stuff and was good at transmitting it to us. He had one of his co-workers on stand-by to lay down a guitar track for our demonstation, and the guy really jammed and it sounded so cool! A lot of these guys and gals who work there are real musicians and their enthusiasm for music is infectious. I'm generally loathe to get on someone's email list, but Guitar Center has been tasteful and sparring in the emails they've sent me. It's also where I learned about the FREE recording classes, and they even have things like Saturday Family Drum Circles. Are you kidding me?? How cool! They've also thrown in some good discounts, specials, etc., so much so that I think that 12-string Martin is going to be in my hot little hands soon... good job, Guitar Center - Palmdale! read more

A local store I wish I could give the business to.... NOT! The guitar I reserved over the phone was sold to other customer when I came to this store to buy it. I had to pay at this store to reserve another guitar at a GC store in Valencia (an hour away from this store). So I paid and drove to pick up the guitar in Valencia. When I got to the Valencia store no one could find it for about 15 min and when it was found it was an open box merchandise, noticeably dinged, scratched with finger prints all over it - opposite conditions to the descriptions of the merchandise promised by Palmdale staff before I agreed to pay it. The manager could only offer 10% discount on the damaged guitar. I just drove an hour for the 2nd broken promise on reservation. When I asked for my money back, the store manager could not refund the money at that time and said it would take 3 days. GC staff, from both stores including their dot com staff, cashiers to managers seemed to be untrained for a simple merchandise return and good customer service. They looked annoyed for having to deal with out of routine transactions even if it was created by their own untrained staff. They're quick to say sorry but offer next to nothing to fix their mistakes or to offer reasonable compensation for special circumstances or to give their customers a good buying experience. They probably don't care if their customers ever want to come back to give them business. What other options do I have? Amazon.com has the guitar + a soft case + a clip on chromatic tuner as a package for $70 less than GC prices. They came w/ free shipping (2 days) in excellent condition. I regretted to ever step in GC stores and I will never ever come back for anything - Good riddance! read more

I had my Ipad in my hands when we entered I was told I could not enter if I did not leave my Ipad with them. My son had a brochure in his hands and they asked for that too. As we were walking around the very unorganized store we were being followed by someone who was sure we are going to steal something I guess. I told my son we were never going to come back here again. We were ready to buy a guitar and an amp that day. But I would rather give my money to Musicians Friend.com. The prices a much cheaper and they have great customer service. I bought a bunch of monster cables here, a little over a year ago, with a promise from the sale rep that it was worth paying more for them because I would have lifetime exchanges on bad/worn out cables through any guitar center store for life. I went in today to exchange one of the cables that completely stopped working and they refused to do the exchange. I was told that I have to go through monster now, but was given zero direction on the process or any apology for the inconvenience. It was like I was bothering them to even ask why their lifetime warranty promise was not being honored. They actually joked amongst themselves behind my back that I was "just another disappointed monster cable customer... Haha." Disgruntled, I went looking at guitars anyways and had a question about an sg standard high up on the wall. The guy I asked about the neck and bridge on the guitar didn't have the time of day for me and walked right passed me without asking if I would like to play it. Sad thing is, I was very interested in playing and possibly buying it, but with bunk customer service and lack of a friendly attitude, I just walked out. If I want little to no human interaction with a knowledgeable human, I will just buy everything this store offers on Amazon or musiciansfriend.com. I will not be shopping here again and will now be part of the online shopping generation that will ultimately make guitar center the next circuit city. I can't imagine that, with all of the competition in this world, that every guitar center would not be the most welcoming, helpful, and friendly environment ever. They need a major relationship building and customer service overhaul, or you can say goodbye to GC. read more

These people does not know what Customer service looks like, they are obviously paid commission which takes away integrity and common sense, aside from bad customer service they added on warranty to my invoice without asking me if I wanted it, when I ask why my invoice was higher than expected the guy helping me proceeded to explain that it is because it includes a 2 year warranty, I told him I did not need it, instead of just taking it off the invoice he started to tell me why I needed it....Holy cow! Now I am so darn stupid he needs to make decisions for me, thanks Guitar Center but let me decide when and when not to purchase warranty. This is not a one off situation, been in there many times within the last few years and I cannot recall at least one time walking out feeling like I was given good service. Horrible at best....I only go in there because my daughter is into guitars and my son into drums, going forward I'll probably just get what I need from Amazon where I know I'll get excellent service and free 2 day shipping. read more

Yesterday I was so frustrated with my microphone that i went into the store to buy a new one. The guy suggested i bring in my mic, cord and interface so he could check them out for me. After he had helped me for half an hour I ended up buying a $20 cord instead of a new mic. Fantastic service. read more

I recently purchased an amp online from this location used in supposed "excellent" condition. Besides the slow delivery the amp arrived and the light on the power switch does not work, it was missing a cord for the foot switch and the volume surges loud then quiet and it was very dirty. After calling customer service they said I would need to talk to the store manager and thus would call me within a day. Well 3 days later no call until I called customer service again and the called the store. I was told by customer service that the amp had been previously returned and the condition not updated to "poor". There were other amps listed in good condition for less money but I was charged more for one that doesn't work right. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting to return it. What a joke, I will not be buying anything from Guitar Center again. I've ordered online from Musicians Friend and everything was always shipped quickly and in better condition then I expected. read more

Guitar Center certainly has everything you need to play and create music. However, I am really tired of getting, "full popped" on the merchandise. If you don't know what "full popped" is, it is when they don't offer a discount on the list price. Let me now say that I used to work in a music store and know the drill here, OK. I just bought drumsticks in bulk and the salesman told me if I wanted a discount he would "have to get a manager and it will probably take another 15 to 30 minutes and the manager probably wouldn't do it anyway". This sucks and since this is the third time this has happened, I will have to go down to Sam Ash in LA to fulfill my musical needs since this establishment is only concerned about the bottom line and the corporate business model that has no regard for the local customers. I can't afford to pay $70 - $80 for supplies every time I go to this store because it is now cheaper to spend the gas to go to LA where there are better prices and although it is really inconvenient, it has now become a financial necessity. The salesman who helped me was totally cool and I have to assume this is a company policy as they won't budge at all without manager approval and the managers are always busy . . . So . . . the salesmen / store here are all making full commissions and that is great but you do this to enough customers who know better then there will eventually be no customers to make these "full pop" commissions on. I have spent a couple grand at this store over the last 5 years or so but am finally done as I can't justify this anymore. I kept hoping things might change but it is only getting worse and that is too bad. So much for loyalty or being a local musician at this Guitar Center location. read more

I am beyond frustrated with Guitar Center Palmdale. I never write reviews, but I'm so pissed off I'm taking the time to do so here to vent. I've been a GC consumer since the mid-1980's. I've purchased, Gibson, Martin, Fender, . . . amps, basses, pedals, cords, mics, PA's, etc., etc. from GC. In other words, as a semi-pro player/consumer, I'm the kind of long time customer GC shouldn't want to lose - I've spent a lot of money over the decades at GC (usually Southbay or Hollywood), for quite literally longer than the GC employees who botched my situation at GC Palmdale have been alive. I understand Palmdale is a "C" level outlier store, so maybe I shouldn't have expected much, but what happened to me there last week takes the cake. I go in, there is a used Gibson Les Paul Traditional they just received as a trade in, at a good price. Tech Luke is working on it. I try it out, it's a sweet axe at a great price. Luke agrees to set it aside, so no one will grab it. I come back on the day we agreed upon, hard earned cash in hand, happy with the knowledge we agreed on it, and we are a go. Luke is there, and looks up, I greet him and say, "I am ready to put the deal together on my guitar you were holding for me." He replies that, "oh, that went up on the wall, it might have sold." I'm thinking to myself, "you have to be bloody kidding me!" He goes in back and doesn't reappear for awhile. He comes back and says matter-of factly, "yeah man, we sold it online." No apology. At this point I am beyond angry, but I don't vent. I talk to the manager (red haired girl, forgot her name) - same matter-of-fact, "you're SOL buddy" attitude from red haired manager girl. So here's my take away from that situation: These people don't give a damn. Their word is worth nothing. I won't be setting foot in there again, and you shouldn't either. Last night I had the worst shopping at the palmdale store. Jimmy Lang felt it was okay to let the sales lady disrespect me (a customer). I am a handicap veteran who came in to pick up a order that I got notified by GC and ups that it was there. These are gifts I am giving to 3 on the veterans that have helped me in my studio. Even with proof they were there they argued with me saying corporate and ups are wrong. The the sales lady ask I I wanted to open the box to proof she was right and I said yes so she said this box is to heavy so you hold it while I get an opener. So she dropped it in my hands before I could grab it and it took me to the floor injuring my back and hip that was injured in Vietnam. I could go on with the rest but it really doesn't mater the sales people are always right in that store. If it wasn't for the kindness from Brendan Sapp and Nick plus the support of corporate I would of never come back. But one night and 2 employers just wiped out all the good they did. This sad it doesn't matter if I was a 18 year or me at 66 you don't treat customers that way. TRheres to many online places to shop. read more

You know, when this place first opened I was so glad the AV was finally getting a decent music store. The employees were all courteous and professional and very knowledgeable about anything in the store. But over the past several years, the customer service has gone wayy down. Only a few employees, Ive seen working there since the place first opened, actually know what they are talking about. Those are the ones i always go to. All of the other employees who look like they're still in high school just stand around chatting and ignore you or laugh at you if you have a question, and then refer you to some other long haired 80s rock band wannabe wearing a shirt they bought at hot topic, who has no clue what theyre talking about. To Guitar Center's credit though, they've always had a great selection of instruments. I've bought several of my guitars and amps from them over the years and i was very pleased. If you are trading in or selling instruments back to them, you're better off selling on amazon or eBay. One downside of being at guitar center in Palmdale though is all of the high school kids who are constantly there playing screamo music really loud on the amps on the sales floor. read more

I went into Guitar Center to buy a Ukelele for my son in law. I had a print out of a model on sale and my wife said she would get on line. OH no, I was going to drive to Palmdale store and pick one up, it looks like the store has some in inventory. I drove 20 miles to the store and walked in. It was very empty during Xmas shopping time so I thought it would be easy to get some help. The man behind the front counter, John, was too busy trying to talk to a young lady that I assume was an employee. (She ended up walking into a back room). I asked John if they had any of these Ukelele's in stock. I got a very quick response of "No". He then turned his attention back on the young lady. Wait, no offer of other choices? No explanation of when they might have some. Nothing. I walked the store for a few minutes, then left. I was walking out the front door when a couple coming out behind me said " they weren't very helpful". I just agreed and thought to myself, I never leave bad reviews, but this warrants one. As a businessman, we call that leaving money on the table and obviously a store with less than acceptable training or floor management at Xmas no less.. My wife ended up buying one on line.
