Look, I get it, I understand, Guitar Center hasn't built the best relationships with musicians over the last few years, but this location is a diamond in the rough. I'm on tour from Seattle and found myself in dire need of some bridge work done on my bass. Dreading walking into an out of state GC, I was prepared for the worst case scenario, buying a new bass. But I was greeted within seconds by Griffin, Doug and Danny. These guys went above and beyond to get my bass back on the road, I think they could smell my touring desperation. Anyway, they diagnosed my issues imminently. Their tech Danny (who was not on the clock) WENT HOME TO GRAB HIS FILES, then came back to ground down the spurs off my saddles while also operating an immaculate intonation, all in a two hour window. They called me back in to come make sure it was up to my standards, Danny hung out to make sure it checked out. I've had a lot of setups done on this bass, I fully admit that I suck at doing it myself - but I know what I like. Danny is a pro, as was everyone else I encountered. This thing sounds and looks as good as it ever did. So nice to find a guitar center that is still focused on the working musician. These guys really stuck their necks out for me and I couldn't recommend this team enough. You can tell that this location is managed differently, and for that I thank you guys. read more

I went into the store to buy strings, I was standing at the register with the strings in my hand being ignored over 45 minutes. A worker came to use the register and didn't even acknowledge, I put the strings back and ordered on-line from a different business. read more

I've purchased $1500ish dollars in stuff from this location, and it's because of the amazing customer service I receive...especially from Doug! They're always welcoming and will let you try out different stuff without stalking you. I would highly recommend this location. Excellent customer experience. Was greeted by Doug who showed me an amp they had on sale during the weekend. He took the time to demonstrate it, explain it fully to me and offered his knowledge in setting it up to best suit my abilities. I went to Guitar Center tonight around 5:30. What a joke that place is. 3 salespeople and one came to help us get a microphone and another thing. First it said they had the mic in stock but the kid couldn't find them and then as the first one never came back to tell us he was leaving, some other young adult with big hair said he was taking his place. So we waited and waited and waited and I walked up the front thinking that guy was looking for the mic but no, he was hanging things on a board and didn't tell us he couldn't find the mic. So I approached him again and he said one second and I had to come back and look and he's on the phone. Once he got off, he did not come back to help us! We wasted a hour and a half standing around being patient and finally we walked right out the door and the guy with the big hair seen us and never stopped us! They have no customer service and we had to call Schaumburg to get excellent help from the manager there. Don't waste your time after 5 when the manager is gone, these kids don't want to work! I will be calling the manager tomorrow! read more

I went in last week looking to buy a new 12-string. I was greeted as soon as I arrived and the salesman and I spoke for a minute or two before heading to the acoustic room. It took about half an hour to go through four reasonably priced great sounding guitars. He even assisted in the blind test. He played I listened. We settled on the Martin, although the Taylor was a close second. I was offered a deal on the case and the tech swapped out the strings for new ones as I waited. After noticing a few smudges, I was allowed to leave with the floor model while the new one was ordered. I picked the new one up today. Doug was great. I'll be back. There was a strat that caught my eye. I couldn't have asked for better service. read more

With an unlimited budget for an acoustic guitar & money burning a hole through my pocket, I entered Guitar Center. Looked into the eyes of 3 employees without so much as a simple "Hello". I entered the acoustic room and browsed for 10 minutes. Found 3 guitars, couldn't get ANY help. BTW, I was the only one in the store. I exited the acoustic room and looked around. No one would help. My first experience with Guitar Center is my last. I work in sales myself and could NEVER imagine ignoring customers. Astonishing. read more

I used to think guitar center was a great place to go. Not as of lately. Most of the time the employees just didn't offer to help you. I was there for about 30 minutes the other day. One or two people came back and got help way after I was in. I was completely ignored. My brother in law and another friend of mine who are in local bands said, "They do not go to guitar center because of that very reason, and their stuff you buy breaks". I wanted to form my own opinion. Now I see why. I will go somewhere else next time. I read another persons review. It must have been from a manager saying they will address this issue. I don't think they did. Doesn't matter. Either way I am done with guitar center as I am finding out more people are going else where. read more

After going to Guitar Center for a instrument cable, their card reader couldn't read not only one but two of my cards. Plenty of money in the bank but the six attempts on their part to run my cards were unsuccessful. I went to Guzzardo's music store and purchased the same cable, card went through just fine and I saved $5.00. read more

I'm giving these guys five stars because they are friendly, honest, and were willing to work with me for my money. I have a lot of disdain for chain guitar stores, but Terri at this particular Guitar Center is an amazingly kind gentleman with a good attitude, and that makes all the difference. I really can't speak for the rest of the staff, but Terry is an awesome dude and I highly recommend working with him on your next guitar purchase! read more

Dishonest Shameful treatment. I bought a hard to find fretless unlined six string bass online from this store and even called the manager right after purchasing to make sure it was in stock. Two days later they sold it to someone else instead of shipping to me, and then refused to call the customer and ask them to bring it back to the store. Shameful! read more
