This is my go to music store but whats going on? I am picking up my amp, there are 2 people in the store and the guy at the door doesnt look like happy to be there and to assist customers. I get it, everybody gets a bad day but please act professional. The lady in the cashier was helpful but I later found out that GC can validate parking tickets and the parking here is costly at $5 for first 3 hours. No grace period for free one. I wish the parking validation was offered or asked me if I used the parking garage upon my checkout on the cashier. But still, overall, this store has a great selection of new and used music instruments and I will still drop by. There is always room for improvement. Keep it up! read more

I just a purchased a new acoustic guitar at Guitar Center in Yonkers. The store is very nice and I had time to try out a number of guitars before making my selection. Price was virtually the same as Amazon. My only criticism was the way the salesman pushed the extended warranty which consumer advocates generally consider a waste of money. He kept illustrating the things which could happen (eg.the bridge separating). He nearly talked me out of buying the instrument instead of getting the warranty. I look at it this way; if a piece of equipment is designed well, there shouldn't be any issues during the warranty period if it is well maintained. I wish retail outlets would stop pushing these extended warranties. read more

I want to thank the Manager who was working on 2/3/25. I have been looking to try out a specific lightweight Casio Piano for months and I can never find it on display anywhere in Westchester. The manager kindly put one on display for me. I was specifically looking for a lightweight gig piano because I have muscle fatigue issues and this one only weighs 10lbs. I went to purchase a mic that was supposedly in stock, but after waiting for nearly an hour was informed (despite being told there were 3 in stock) they couldn't find any. To be fair the few staff that were there were friendly + doing their best, but the place was woefully understaffed, and I saw multiple frustrated potential customers leave whist I was there waiting. A total waste of my time, suffice to say I will NEVER go back!!! ....and we wonder why brick and mortar retail is suffering so much.... Don't see how this place can survive......I needed the mic in a hurry, and ended up getting exactly what I needed from Micro Center in Yonkers. Totally different retail experience there!!! Went to pick up an item for Christmas. The item was in stock as per the guitar center website. When I went there the employee told me they don't have it anymore. He wouldn't even check when I explained that online the item was in stock at this particular location. I asked if he could order it he replied no because there was no stock and it wouldn't come in time for the holidays anyway. So that night I ordered the item via phone and paid extra for express shipping to get it in time for the holidays. To my surprise the item was shipped same day from this Yonkers location. So that means they had it in stock! They inconvenienced me and cost me extra $. read more

In all its faults and for the complaints you may read online, it's nice to be able to go into an actual music store and physically HOLD in your HANDS the instrument you may be buying. Plus there's a 45 day return policy. For me that's better than buying blindly online. Your experience will vary depending on who is working and which store you go to. read more

Being left-handed can be frustrating when hunting for a decent lefty guitar, so after seeing a sweet deal on a lefty Godin Exit 22s I jumped in my car and drove an HR to Guitar Center in Yonkers, NY. Brandon not only helped me with testing this beauty, but even threw on a new set of strings free of charge! After a proper set up the Godin Exit 22s has quickly become my #1 axe. This store is great, only down fall is the parking. The employees are very knowledgeable and will help you find what you need in a flash. They have a bunch of instruments. Terrible experience. Location is located on the 2nd floor. It's a long run to elevator to car. Rented a electric piano. Called everyday to ensure order was correct. Every worker on the phone told us a different availability of equipment. Dealt with Max and Veronica on orders. Met with Veronica day of to pick up order. She was all over the place and border line short with questions and answers. It took 2 hours, while she answered the phone, dealt with other customers and looked for the equipment. Electric keyboard, bench, amp etc... when I set up amp sounded terrible with keyboard. Too late to return for a replacement. I returned next day, I was asked by Jacob how was the experience, I responded with the above response. Conversation ended quickly. Dealt with Max with the return, explained the issues another short conversation. Took an hour to return equipment because no one was available to assist with retrieving equipment from car. I ended up taking a cart and doing it myself. To management, your processes are all over the place. It appears your staff is geared for on phone sales. What about the in store customers? Employee moral is low which affects customer service. What is the follow up when customer has a negative experience? 2nd floor is an issue, assistance for drop off and pick ups needs to be enhanced for a better experience. Inventory system needs improvement. I would not recommend this store. Store appears to be stocked but disorganized. I hope your other stores are different. read more

My Taylor 314ce needed a *VERY last minute* restring (and some TLC) for a studio session this Saturday that I only found out about tonight (Thursday). I called kind of frantic knowing I couldn't come in tomorrow, and Jeremiah immediately offered to help me out. I was there working with him an hour later! Jeremiah was super generous with his time, even while conscientiously juggling other customers, and is extremely knowledgeable. He knew exactly which strings to recommend for my particular guitar, confidently answered my laundry list of questions, and even (super patiently) walked me through the restringing process. I've been to many a music store; I often feel uncomfortable and/or annoyed. The staff is usually to busy with each other, or too high on themselves to be of any use. Pretentious, a little condescending, and not great customer service skills. This Guitar Center, however, is a fantastic opposition to the average music store. A SUPER friendly and helpful staff, great layout, awesome products ... I just wish they were a LITTLE less expensive. We're all starving artists, aren't we? :P Great place. read more

Probably the worst GC in NY, I waited on line for a total of 20 minutes to purchase a set of strings despite there being an abundance of employees there was only one in there that could have rung me up which was using the register to show an website item to a customer. Instead of offloading it to a sales rep they insisted that the cashier would get to me. Then another sales rep decided to join in by chiming in his opinions on the item they were showing the customer instead of ringing me up. I just decided to leave after the long wait. Just buy online if you have to cause you'll probably die by the Time they ring you up. This store is more of a casual hang out for employees than an actual business to purchase items from. Mind you it wasn't even packed barely 5 customers in total shopping around. read more

I rarely shop here. However, the few times that I have, I found everything I was looking for and the staff here are really nice and helpful which to me, easily give it a 4-5 star rating. One time in particular I went to acquire about stage lighting equipment and setups and one guy literally gave my friend and I a show, demonstrating all the different lights they had and what each light did. He controlled every single light from a computer program and everything, fog machine, it was pretty damn cool. Definitely check it out if you are a music head and looking for some equipment. read more

I wish I could've given a quarter star for this establishment... I've been shopping here for years, taking lessons, and everything. When I go to return a product I bought a day earlier, after spending $700 on a bass guitar, I tried returning an instrument that I bought a day earlier that was still factory sealed the exact way I purchased and never opened. The manager of the store decided to go against what's clearly indicated in their return policy, and refused my return. This was the last straw for me, especially after all around bad service and negligence in general. I live in Yonkers so even though inconvenient, I'll be sure I travel to a further guitar center for any future needs. Absolutely terrible service and am attitude from the management. before this event it's worth noting I stopped my guitar lessons because I was charged twice for multiple weeks and only realized when I looked back at my bank statements. Went to attempt to try out some studio monitors. On a Saturday, there was hardly any customers there. Seemed a little strange. found the Recording section and saw the wall of speakers. Oh, that Yamaha HS7 has a missing center in the speaker? Oh, ALL the Yamahas are broken in some way? The JBL has what looks like a gash created by a hot knife? Basically half of the speakers looked like they had been through a riot. Did someone ask if they could help me with something? No. Well, let me try out one of the not broken ones. The input to the switching station doesn't work. Never mind. Now I know why nobody was in there. Is this place managed by a bag of potato chips? read more

DISHONEST STORE! I am a seasoned guitar player who knows what's wrong with a guitar. I brought in two guitars on separate occasions and was told "sorry, we can't take this... your neck is bent. We can chrome polish it for you for $130" meanwhile, I've had a Les Paul that was played once out of the box... no wear, no bump/bend in the neck or warps in the wood at all. What is the point in buying used goods if I'm going to hear one of your employees mutter to the other "we don't need that, we have one the exact same hanging on the wall" if that's the case, then tell me that! Don't tell me something is wrong with my instruments when I've kept them in pristine condition and then try to sell me some BS I don't need. Took my guitars right to sam ash, a guitar tech checked them out and they were appraised right away. Won't be going to this GC anymore read more

Just want to say that Damon from guitar center has been a total ass. So unprofessional and got pissed because we called on another salesperson to help because he was with someone else. He interrupted the salesperson as he was helping us so that he could continue the sale. He was like "so what was your question? Do you JUST want to look at items or are you BUYING SOMETHING?" I was about to go off on him, but didn't for my son's sake. I ignored him for the rest of the transaction, but will avoid him for any further business. I've been coming here for years and I've never seen the drum dept in such bad shape! Not only were things all over the place, it looked like no one gave a damn. Like always, I go right to the back and no one was there, so I went to the front to see if some one could help me pickup a couple pairs of my favorite, Vader Fatback nylon tip and a couple of snare cases. Well the guy at the front door told me give him a few and he'll get someone. I waited about ten minutes! No one came, so I looked towards the guitar dept and someone was there taking care of a young pretty woman. I was there before she came in, and I understand maybe that worker knew nothing about drums. I know what I need, someone could've asked what I needed and I could've told them. I waited another 5 minutes and then just left. I'm not sure why you got rid of Damon and Rocco, but you need help. read more

I was holding a charity benefit, so a month in advance I went to the Guitar Center in Larchmont to check out my options for A PA system. We decided it was best for me to rent their used equipment for 10% of the cost. A few days before the event I went back to Larchmont, and they were packing up and shutting down. They told me no problem, just go to the Yonkers store, I could rent there. So I drive out to landfill in Yonkers which this store is built on top of. The store was completely empty...not a single customer. So I told the employee who greeted me at the door that the Larchmont store sent me there to rent. He looked at me like I killed one of his family members and told me "We don't do that here." I explained I was sent there from their Larchmont store, but he again gave me that stare. No suggestions, no help, just an attitude. I'm going to tell you something. There is no excuse for rude behavior to a potential customer. It's not like they were busy. I was the only customer in the store. My bet is this location shuts down just like the one in Larchmont. So what did I do? I went to Sam Ash in White Plains, and they were more than happy to help me in any way they could. Even handshakes and well wishes for the benefit on the way out. I added a product into my cart for purchase last night. It was on sale for $149 ($100 off). I need to measure a space before purchasing. When I went back into my cart to purchase the item, it reverted back to its $249 price tag. I called them to see if they can honor the sale I saw only 12 hours ago and they stated they could not. Clearly they were willing to part with this product for 149 only 12 hours ago now they can't possibly sell it to me for that price? Outrageous! Horrible service. Rude, inpatient, and should not be allowed to deal with people. The kids working there are extremely nice and helpful, but can't do anything without his approval. I will NEVER buy anything there. I'm a paying customer who should not have a manager laugh at my face when I have a question. He actually laughed at me. Loudly, then turned and walked away. As if I was bothering him. I don't need to be treated that way. And I won't. Since this incident 2 months ago I have purchased 1 taylor, 1 Gibson, and a strat. All purchased elsewhere. Went in today to buy guitar strings for the fender I found in my house. I've been playing for maybe 3 days and just wanted to learn how stringing a guitar worked etc. Jerry the District Manager was there today and he took his time to sit with me for about 45 minutes. He showed me how to string, let me do it hands on myself, and explained various other things about the guitar and the way it was built to keep in mind for the future. Honestly, I had a blast with it. The store is sparsely staffed weekdays, which means you might have to seek someone out to get what you want, but it also means that you can spend literally hours trying out whatever you want uninterrupted. Went in for strings, saw a mandolin being returned, wife says "buy it" I said "I don't play mandolin" salesman says "I can teach you a blues in a minute", he did, I bought it and I'll forever be thankful ! Remember, these guy are musicians and if you talk to them like musicians it's all good, they'll go to the wall for you, checking that their prices are competitive, right in front of you. I just brought home a drum set and guitar with amp for my young kids from Guitar Center and it was one of the best shopping experiences I have ever had. I was looking to purchase some starter equipment - instruments that didn't cost me a fortune, that my kids could beat up on as they explored their interests, and that I wouldn't feel terrible haven't spent so much money on if they lost interest. When I asked Chris, the rep at the drum sections, if he had some suggestion, I got much more than I expected in terms of help and customer service. He pointed me to a junior set and before I could even ask a question he shot out all the benefits of it, such as that it had everything including the seat and mounts and it would be great for the kids to start with, they will out grow out of it in a a few years but it's good start. He then offered me the floor sample at a discount and noted that it would save me time as it was already put together. Nice. How can you top that? Well, he carted everything for me and brought it out to my SUV in the parking lot. Knowing I was a newbie, he showed me how to mount the drums and put some of the mounts on before loading them into the car. Epic. Can't get much better right? Well, I went back into the store to buy a starter guitar for my other little guy. Chris jumps into help. One thing to mention is that there was no up selling. In a place with guitars costing thousands, Chris could have tried to steer me towards a more expensive guitar than the $99 one I purchased, but he didn't. When it came to amps he showed me the basic ones that were about $80 and then a $99 that he said was much great quality for the price, you might say this is up selling, but consider there are amps for hundreds of dollars in that place, $20 is minor and even I could the difference between the units in terms of construction. Take it further, he found the lowest price stand, threw in picks for free, tuned the guitar before we left, gave me a discount on the guitar, and carted everything out to my car again. He reminded me that I could bring the instrument back for tuning anytime and that I had 30-days to return anything if didn't work out. When you're buying something you don't know anything about it can be daunting trying to decipher a best option for what you're trying to accomplish amongst many choices. Chris made it super easy. I haven't worked with other Guitar Center reps but I'll say without a doubt that he's their Rock Star and I'll be shopping there for my music needs. read more
