I have been in many times, sometimes for a set of strings, a book or a repair. On August 13th, I bought a padded strap and had them change my strings. Let me explain myself. I taught college music in Fresno, Merced, and while in Savannah, Georgia, I taught guitar in music stores since I was a teenager. I graduated from California Institute of the Arts with an MFA as a composer/performer of the classical guitar and was the first to receive that double degree. That's Walt Disney's school and I was on full scholarship. I've had virtuosi record my music, still get people recording my classical guitar work, performed with orchestras my works for orchestra and processed "backtone guitar" (my invention), been asked by people to compose for them, all in all, I've been successful and am now in Boulder, Colorado to do my 3rd degree. I've written for Guitar Player, Acoustic Guitar, Soundboard and the British magazine Classical Guitar. I've played warmup for Kool and The Gang, played with Duke's nephew, Steve Ellington, guitar for a few gigs with Lou Rawls, Millie Jackson and countless rock, soul and jazz bands. I had my own Internet magazine, New Millennium Guitar Publishing since 2000 and took it down in 2019 because I started writing novels and needed not to deal with guitar at that point. To be disrespected by a store employee who was more concerned with his hair and wasted on something was not good. To be clear, the little long haired boy doesn't know me but to walk in, sit down next to him and have him turn his back on me and not engage me was as pathetic as it gets. read more

Outstanding / above and beyond. I'm still a novice, only been playing on a borrowed guitar for a couple months. Went to Guitar Hut to try and get my first electric guitar. They were super friendly, didn't make me feel self-conscious about my newness, and let me try out many different guitars. Tl;dr: 11/10 - worth every penny - won't take my guitars anywhere else I've been playing for almost twenty years, so I've been in a lot of shops. In all that time I've never had a better experience than I did at Guitar Hut. I brought in my Martin that had developed a buzz that was making it unplayable. Evan took a look at it and patiently walked me through exactly what he was seeing and options on what he could do to get things in a better spot -- and when I got it back, it played even smoother than it did when it was brand new. My experience here was awful and I'm surprised to see good reviews. I dropped off 2 guitars to have strings changed. Returned a few days later expecting them to be completed as I was told but they were not done. I returned a few days later again and they were still not done. No explanation - just 'very busy'. If you can't deliver when you say you'll deliver and customers cannot count on you, I don't know how you'll stay in business. I live right up the street but I'd never give them my business again. read more

This shop is severely overpriced, the owner is rude, and their work is of below average quality. I brought my guitar in to get polished, cleaned, and get a new strap button. When I got my guitar back, a week later, it looked the same as when I brought it into the shop. It looked as if it wasn't polished at all. They didn't ask what color button I wanted, so I ended up with one bright white button and one stainless steel. They also gave me my guitar back with a broken saddle without making me aware of it. Like they were hoping I wouldn't notice. Attention to detail clearly wasn't their focus here. It was obviously to do as little work as possible and get my guitar out of there as quick as they could. Now that my business there is done I am most definitely NOT going back again. read more

This is the best place for a budding guitarist ever! My 11 year old son decided that he wanted to play guitar this summer, so we stopped by the Guitar Hut since it's close to our home. How lucky for us! The store owner, Evan, sat down with my son and talked to him about what guitar might be the best for him and why, let him try different ones to get a feel for it, and even showed him a few basics. We came in several times over the course of the summer while my son was earning the money to buy his guitar, and every time it was a wonderful experience. Evan and his wife were always happy to see us and talk to us about guitars, even though we didn't buy anything. It is obvious that they both truly love running their shop. When my son had finally earned enough money to buy the guitar it was a big experience. He had saved up enough to afford the guitar, a case, a tuner and a strap. Evan and his wife were both there, and patiently helped him make each decision, giving him deals to help him so that he could afford the whole thing. Afterwards my son said "They were so nice Mom, you know how you're always writing stuff online, you have to write a review for them so people will know how awesome they are." So here I am, finally getting around to it. He is now taking private lessons weekly with Evan, and it's so exciting to see his enthusiasm and ability grow. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, if I could give more than five stars I would. read more
