When I was setting up the guitar stands on Sunday the 6th I found out one of them was defective. On Monday the 7th of September I attempted to return one stand for a replacement but found out they were closed-it was Labor day. On the 8th of Sept I left town for 10 days, and returned on the 18th. On the 19th I went to Woodsongs in an attempt to have the defective guitar stand replaced. The nice young man behind the counter said he'd have to talk to the manager. The manager appeared and told me they had a strict 7 day return policy. I told him I tried to return the stand on Monday the 7th of September but they were closed, and that I'd been out of town since then. He told me that they are never closed and that I should have returned it before I left town. He didn't replace the stand which is not an expensive item, and treated me as though I was making an unreasonable request to have the stand replaced. He even told me that I broke it and it was my fault. As a retail outlet, the customer service is very poor and there is a air of arrogance about the shop. I'll never go back there again. I'll go to Louisville. I've been around music my whole life and usually musicians are good to other musicians. I don't get the impression this shop is run by players. Just a retail shop.

This time the shop had moved to a new location. I was staying downtown and was able to hop on the rail and arrive within a reasonable, but m,operate walk from the train stop. It wasn't necessarily an ideal walk front eh train, but definitely manageable. This shop is always packed with cool stuff - in this newer location they have much more space and Heaven more great stuff. New and used, they have lots to look at. I was definitely impressed with the guitar pedals that they keep in stock. Really appreciate the ability to check out some uncommon stuff that I have been interested in potentially adding to my pedal board. I was standing around waiting for help and luckily I had Carson come around the corner and asked me if I needed anything. He was extremely helpful in that he helped me with checking on if they had what I wanted in stock, picking out the best studio speakers needed for the keyboard, and sold me a package deal that was included with the keyboard. I purchased a 1922 Conn New Wonder Alto Saxophone for 25$. I knew this instrument needed overhauled…read moreand I was not sure it would ever play well again. I brought it to Brian he took one look and said "I'll get it playing." Once Brian took the horn apart there was what looked like two bullet holes on either side of the body. In good humor Brian made a quip about it being a old mobster's horn. Brian was able to create a patch and seal the holes and complete the saxophone. When I play tested it I was surprised by how well the horn played. I was not expecting much from a 90 year old instrument. The sound is clear and spot on for a Johnny Hodges solo. Rocky Mountain Music Repair is owned by a wonderful family. I highly suggest any one to bring their musical needs to Brian. This shop takes pride in friendly and quality service.
