If they're working 6 days a week how can they possibly meaningfully engage with their students? Don't confuse lack of teacher supply with quality of teacher. Parents are smarter than that. 3. We provide welcome packets for instruction. This completely misses the point. What about meaningful parent engagement to ensure practice at home? What about recitals to showcase learning? A packet is not a replacement for meaningful dialogue and musical learning. I repeat - we were there for almost a year, RECITALS NEVER HAPPENED. We doubled up with voice lessons + piano lessons. Parents --- do the math, this was a terrible investment. Conclusion: We've been at ZTunes and have never been happier. As a parent, I'm too busy to throw shade or unnecessarily put down small businesses. This experience was severe enough for me to do so (TWICE), because I feel like I have an obligation to parents out there who are just looking for a meaningful musical experience for their children.

When I arrived Renee wasn't there and apparently neither was anyone else who could process my payment. Not only that -they were not ready for my daughter either and suggested that I take off and that she "hang out" there for about an hour and half with them. She's 8!! ok...... Surely they mean that there are some other kids perhaps in the same situation and they have some activities planned for them or something along those lines. I quickly figured out that was not the case as I watched the instructors skip out to lunch. Since no else said anything else to me I decided to sit and wait with my daughter until they returned and made time for her....A few days later I checked my bank account only to find that school of rock had charged me double. #$%^&*(. And when I called and spoke with the owners Mike and Renee, they cheerfully responded with sarcasm and reassured me again that "WE DONT GIVE A SHIT!!!!!" No matter if you're just a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, he can teach at all levels, all ages, and all styles. There's always something to learn. If you want to learn theory, learn a song, disect a song, etc, he's your guy. He's able to not just teach you how to play songs, but also teach you to understand what you're playing and why you're playing the notes/chords within a composition. On a windy Saturday I decided to start our day with an introductory class and it was such a great pick-me-up. Finding the place was incredibly easy and there was enough parking for a dozen or so cars in their lot. The biz is situated in a cute little house with a nice play area in the back for the kiddos to frolic in before/after class. We went in for the 10am class with Ms. Ryan and were joined by 5 or 6 other kids and their parents. We were the only newbies but Ms. Ryan made us both feel so comfortable. She put a sticker on my son's back to remember his name (lolol) and did a great job at doing so! The songs and dances were easy to pick up on, well, for me an adult lol. My son is in his clapping and dancing phase, so he enjoyed clapping along. I loved that there were moments when they could grab their own instruments and play along - he loved that so much! All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience for my little musician and I. We can't wait to go back!

In my short time hanging out at Carere Music, I witnessed Jeanne demonstrate her great knowledge of the music business and deal with all sorts of situations with the utmost professionalism: selling and renting good quality musical instruments to eager students, young and old; taking in musical instruments for repairs; helping people find new owners for their musical instruments by selling them on consignment; teaching flute students of all ages, improving their playing on a daily basis. Jeanne obviously has a passion for teaching! After hearing Jeanne's incredible flute sound and impeccable sense of pitch on the piccolo it's no wonder she's first call for all sorts of high level concerts all over the Southeast. My mother played the flute/piccolo chair in the North Carolina Symphony, so I know a world class player when I hear one.
