On a windy Saturday I decided to start our day with an introductory class and it was such a great pick-me-up. Finding the place was incredibly easy and there was enough parking for a dozen or so cars in their lot. The biz is situated in a cute little house with a nice play area in the back for the kiddos to frolic in before/after class. We went in for the 10am class with Ms. Ryan and were joined by 5 or 6 other kids and their parents. We were the only newbies but Ms. Ryan made us both feel so comfortable. She put a sticker on my son's back to remember his name (lolol) and did a great job at doing so! The songs and dances were easy to pick up on, well, for me an adult lol. My son is in his clapping and dancing phase, so he enjoyed clapping along. I loved that there were moments when they could grab their own instruments and play along - he loved that so much! All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience for my little musician and I. We can't wait to go back!

But that's just a distraction from the actual content of my review --- quality of instruction and management sucks. 2. "highly sought after teacher" / "works 6 days a week" - what this really means is you're understaffed and overworking your teachers. If they're working 6 days a week how can they possibly meaningfully engage with their students? Don't confuse lack of teacher supply with quality of teacher. Parents are smarter than that. 3. We provide welcome packets for instruction. This completely misses the point. What about meaningful parent engagement to ensure practice at home? What about recitals to showcase learning? A packet is not a replacement for meaningful dialogue and musical learning. I repeat - we were there for almost a year, RECITALS NEVER HAPPENED. We doubled up with voice lessons + piano lessons. Parents --- do the math, this was a terrible investment. Conclusion: We've been at ZTunes and have never been happier. As a parent, I'm too busy to throw shade or unnecessarily put down small businesses. This experience was severe enough for me to do so (TWICE), because I feel like I have an obligation to parents out there who are just looking for a meaningful musical experience for their children.

I needed a hobby to help me break the (sometimes) mind numbing routine of having a 9-5 job. Although I have a very good ear and can sing in tune, I wanted to take lessons mainly to increase my vocal range. I was lucky to be under the tutelage of Carey for over a year and a half. Within that period, I've been able to increase my vocal range and build up a nice repertoire of songs based on my musical interests. Since Carey has a huge database of songs to teach from (over 5000 songs!), we covered a lot of musical theatre, pop, and some jazz. Carey's studio has very calming, comfortable, and nurturing vibe.
