I've visited this location many, many times over the years and every visit has been pleasurable. Check in and evaluation has always been quick whether I had a appointment or not. The donation process has always gone smoothly and that's in large part to the friendly staff. Complete waste of time my doctor sent me there to have blood taken due to high hematocrit. He sent the orders to Gulf Cost Blood. I scheduled an appointment the next day for my blood to be drawn after explaining my situation to the manager of Gulf Coast Blood she told me my orders had not been received yet but I could come in either way and they would be able to draw my blood with or without the orders. When I get there the next day they check me in and after reviewing the check in info I filled out earlier that day the told me I could not donate since I was on the antibiotics the doctor who referred me prescribed. They told me until they received the orders from the doc they could not proceed since I was on medication. Ann (the medical assistant) was absolutely no help so I asked to speak to her manager who was even less helpful. I asked if they could call my doctor to obtain verbal consent and they told me no. When I asked what the difference was if I had the orders I would still be on the meds and the manager told me they would take it but discard it instead of donating, so I said ok let's do that now this is for my health reasons not for donation purposes and she said they could not do it since I did have the doctors consent. They were very unprofessional and did not even attempt to help. read more

I've been coming to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in Cy-Fair for a couple of years now and the people here are so awesome and thankful for their donors. Before donating blood you are pre-screened to make sure you are healthy and eligible to donate blood. You are asked a series of questions to make sure you meet the required prerequisites and if you do they'll move you to the donating area. Your first time donating takes the longest because it requires a physical. Make sure you eat something filling before coming in to avoid passing out or feeling sick during the donation. The actual drawing of blood process is very quick. I believe most people donate about a pint of blood and that took about 5 minutes to do. You're given a stress ball to squeeze firmly to allow the blood to flow quickly into the bag. After donating the staff does ask you to hang out in their waiting room area and rehydrate and snack on something for about 20-30 minutes to make sure everything went smooth and you're feeling ok. Snacks and drinks are provided! They usually have grape juice, apple juice, water and some chips and cookies. If you've ever wanted to know what your blood type is, this is the easiest way to find out. After a few days of post-donation, your blood will be tested for diseases and blood type. After it's been tested you'll receive a Donor ID number where you can go online and log into the website or app and see the results from your donation. You can see your blood type, points earned for that donation, and because of everything going on with the pandemic the donation center is going a step further and also testing your blood for COVID-19 Antibodies. Yup, I saved a life, or two, or three!! A few weeks ago I was participating in a health fare at a church (for work). Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center staff members were there trying to get blood donations. I donated and if not for that HUGE needle that went in my arm everything would have been a breeze. The staff was super nice and very gentle. They gave me a unit ID, which I used to see my cholesterol levels, my blood type and a few other things I can't remember right now, on their site. It felt good to donate blood. I believe I am to be a regular donor. My next donating date 04/25/2010!! Oh yea, and I got a juice and cookies after donating! (woo hoo! ) They also give you points on their website that can be used to "purchase" merchandise in their online store. The site is www.giveblood.org, go in and make an appointment. When I come here to donate, the entire staff always greets me with a bright smile. I have been committed to donate blood and this last time Platelets and Whole blood too. Before you donate they check your vitals, weight, and in my last case, the number of platelets. Mr. Landa made my entire visit pleasant, he is energetic and has a huge passion for his job. The phlebotomist in the station I was, made sure I was taken care of and even brought me a nice thick blanket so I could keep myself warm as I was plugged to the machine that drew my blood. Then to make my 3 hour stay here better, I did get some juice, snacks, and some Hero Socks! They have cable which is good but the fact that someone will live brings me joy. read more

Do not go here they do not know what they are doing, they dug and dug in my arm. I'm a phlebotomist for 25 years, they went where there wasn't a vain and so close to the artery . I have huge veins, I give all the time and I have NEVER had any one miss my veins. Never! Wish I could post a pic of my arm you would see what they do at this place! read more

I can't believe I'm reviewing a blood donation center....and saying I'm a fan. But, donate I do, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. The Center is a clean establishment, the bathrooms are spacious, the staff is friendly and supportive. Each donation station has its own TV, so you can schedule your donation while your fave TV show is on. But if you are like me, your donation will be over in 10 minutes. The waiting and the questions/BP/etc. take longer than the blood-letting itself. Sweet and salty snack for afterwards, along with juice and water and a little area to sit and recover. Another reviewer said there's coffee but I've never seen it, I didn't think they would have caffienated drinks there which are dehydrating - the last thing you need after donating. Everyone has been kind and gentle with the needle which is much appreciated. You can do most of your paperwork online but make sure you do it the day of the donation, otherwise you will have questions to redo once you get there. Don't forget to print out your paperwork and bring it with you. read more

They do a great job and make sure you are comfy. All of the staff I dealt with were prefessional, courteous, and thorough! It's a very nice, clean facility and even has a play area for the kids. They have coffee, juice and snacks for you after you donate you. You even get your own tv with DirecTV to watch while you donate. read more

Located among other healthcare providers, this location of GCRBC is very clean, tidy, and spacious. I've donated at this location 10+ times, and it is currently my most preferred location for blood donation. I'm always greeted within seconds of entering the building, the wait before entering the individual screening rooms are usually short (no more than 5 minutes), and the phlebotomists are all professional and careful throughout the donation process. Each seat is equipped with an individual TV to help you pass the time as your blood is drawn. After donation, the resting area is well stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks (sweet and salty snacks, water, Gatorade, iced tea, fruit juice) The bathrooms are clean and large. I especially like that all staff are sure to thank you for your donation. This side note mostly applies to the company, and not this specific location: I dislike how the company will become annoying in trying to contact you to come back for a donation. Over the past 1 month, I've had 15 calls, each time from a different number and no message left. I only know it's GCRBC because I Google the number. read more
