I have been going to this office for over almost two years. The facility is modern and technologically up to date as are the staff. The original dentist I had when I went in initially, has moved. There are now two dentists, one male, one female. I have been served by the female dentist. She is very good communicating the procedure[s] before they are done. The staff is friendly and efficient. They contact your insurer, get the approval and provide a listing of all procedures, what the insurance will cover and what the patient needs to be prepared to pay. I like to go in early in the AM for appointments as there is no backlog of patients and the rest of the day is mine. Located within 15 minutes of our home, it is very convenient for us. In 2021 my husband and I began seeing this dental office. For the first year or so, all went well. Here's what happened: My husband and I had separate insurance policies with Cigna. We also had separate HRA's. I asked the office to contact me for mine, my husband for his. Sometime after the first year, I went in for a cleaning and was told my husband owed this office a substantial amount of money. Not sure what they were talking about. A phone call from the office manager revealed that I owed nothing, but my husband owed money. I could only presume that the office had combined the two accounts. I contacted the insurance company, and was working toward separating the accounts. During this time, my husband received a cancer diagnosis, and we concentrated heavily on this issue. Also during this time, the office manager left a voicemail on my husband's phone. Being a bit preoccupied, he didn't listen to his voicemails . When I went through his phone, I discovered it was a voice mail from the office manager of this dental office. He had a scheduled cleaning, and decided he would speak to them when he went in. When he arrived at his appointment time, they informed him that they had cancelled his appointment, and sent his account to collections. Now, we cannot file anything to either HRA, as the deadline had passed. When I've called the office the staff is very short. I went in the office this past Monday, as my bridge had popped off while I was out of town. I discovered that the office manager had been involved in a serious accident and was not available. I spoke with the girl at the front desk, explained what had gone on, and she assured me that someone would call me back. When she pulled up MY account, it had my husband's cellphone number on it, not mine. Since my husband has passed away, that number will do them no good. I had to give her my number again. Guess what? No phone call. I can't tell you how displeased I am with this office. While Dr. Lopez is an absolute wonder, the office staff is not so great. The receptionist lied to me and was caught. I work out of state and have very limited time while home. I explained this and set up a consultation and cleaning for the same day. the receptionist said they do not usually do that but, in my case, they would make an exception. When I arrived, I asked to be sure I was getting both services and was told (By the receptionist that I had explained this to), "No, this is consultation only. The cleaning technician is not here today". When I questioned her about our discussion, she said "Neither of us would ever say that you could do both services at once". Her associate was talking at the same time and said we sometimes do both but not today. I then asked them "Which is it? You never tell people you can or sometimes you can do both? I cancelled the consultation and never went back. read more

I have been a client of Gulf Coast Dental since early 2024. Generally I have been extremely satisfied with the level of care and the professionalism of all in the practice. I am extremely dissatisfied with today's visit, which was to be a cleaning. However, during the cleaning, x-rays were taken, and the Dr. appeared to "check my teeth." Not until after her departure-2 minutes later, was I advised that this was my annual check up, which technically should have occurred in January. At the very least, when the confirmation was made, I should have been advised at that time of the annual. Three hundred dollars for a less than 3 minute visit. I would caution others! read more

I have a new dentist. I have been in Hernando 3 years and so far have gone through two dentists. Not happy. When I met this dentist he said "ok, tell me about yourself." Is he for real. I'm not going for a job interview. I'm interviewing him. Needless to say, I found a new one. Hopefully this new one is a keeper. Don't ask the the tech a question either. They get very defensive. This place is great. Stephanie the hygienist is amazing. Does a fantastic job and makes you laugh the whole time. Completely at ease and before you know it you're done with the cleaning. On time and got me in and out in about 30 minutes because they run on schedule. Dr. also takes your time with you and is thorough with the exam and as a new patient asking your history. I went to the office in Inverness for a cleaning and since they advertise 699.00 for drowns or implants but after find out I had insurance it would cost me more 184.00 all my life I thought if you have insurance one should get better pricing not be penalized. after exam dr. Joana Halilaj told me I needed extensive work for a total11,250.00. I was shocked since my last visit only 9 months earlier in a different dentist nothing was suggested. I went for a second opinion and they gave me a clean bill of health even said that crown that they said needed work wasn't bad enough to be covered by insurance! Go at your own risk but you may want to leave out your insurance for better prices!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!! read more

Brought my wife in they attempted a deep cleaning, root planing. Had to come back for 2nd attempt. Thought all was good. I returned and had a consultation where I was presented with a 1500.00 potential bill to fill her front teeth. Work for her entire mouth was an option for over 13000.00 dollars! I went to another dentist for a second opinion. The new dentist informs me that there was a lot of build up that was not removed during Gulf Coast Dental Associates initial deep cleaning. So now I go and ask Gulf Coast Dental Associates for my money back. They seen areas they missed on the X-rays and informed me the head of the practice would review the X-rays and make a decision. Got a call a few days later from the office manager saying the owner did not look at the X-rays and that they had cleaned her teeth to the best of their abilities. So the moral of the story is paid for the work and got some of it done. Unacceptable behavior to say the least. The new dentist is charging me only 114.00 to fill the one and only cavity in her front teeth not 1500.00. To all the people directly responsible for this injustice the owner of Gulf Coast Dental Associates who failed to examine the X-rays. Dr. Joanna Halilaj who overseen the procedure and also presented us with inflated dental bill for work that did not need to be done. Dr. Martin Giacobbe and Jessica Earles office manager who both viewed X-rays of build up that was left behind on the teeth and did nothing. You need to seek consulting to know how to become better human beings. We are currently preparing to take this matter before the Florida board of dentistry. Let's face it dental services are expensive. So it is very valuable to find a place that provides competitive pricing with their dental services and does an excellent job at what they do. I visited this dental office to enquire about having my lower dentures re-ligned. I filled out a form and spent less than ten minutes with a dentist and was charged $73.00 to be told that a re-lign would cost over $400.00. The dentures only cost about $200. I feel that I've been legally robbed. Back to good old seasoned!! read more
