So I had been hearing about these falls from friends and knew I wanted to come and see them. These falls are located within Gunlock State Park. In addition to the waterfalls, there is a large reservoir where you can fish, swim and boat. The park is located about 10 miles out of St. George, Utah. My good friend and I decided last spring (2023) to come and see the falls. I checked the park website to make sure they were running. The falls don't run every year so always make sure to check the park website before heading up here. We arrived early afternoon but there were way too many peeps so we left to return later. We came back close to 5:00pm and the crowds had thinned. We paid the $10 fee and enjoyed the falls. You have to climb up to the falls so be sure to wear some trusted footwear so you don't slip. So much water rushing over the beautiful red rocks. It was quite a show and I highly recommend if you find yourself in the area. Remember to Leave No Trace and take care of our public lands. read more

So beautiful - Even though I wasn't able to walk a lot I'm glad I was able to catch this view before they got dark. Some of the areas nearby make you pay but this was free. Please note there's no chairs around so if you're thinking about coming make sure you pack something to sit on the ground with and it does get a little buggy since you're so close to the water. Beautiful waterfalls seen from main highway!! Parking is directly off the road and just a short 5-10 minute walk/hike later, you will be at the falls. You will have to go down a hill after you park and walk through sand and rocks, it is an easy hike. Although not recommended, many people were wearing sandals and they still made it. Once you get to the water tho, the rocks can and will be very slippery so shoes are a better option. These falls only form when the reservoir is overflowing (apparently 2019 is the first time it's happened in 10 years!!) So make sure to check out the park's website (Gunlock State Park) to make sure whether or not the falls are currently running. Head out here fast and enjoy the beautiful views, refreshing water, and amazing photo ops! read more

Beautiful falls! Next time I'll bring a suit and raft for the reservoir. Didn't realize it was an actual hike to get to the falls. Wish I would have worn shoes instead of sandals. read more

Amazing!!! The kids had a blast and not too crowded. Obviously I would recommend anyone that is going to make a trip out to the falls be cautious. The walk to the falls is steep-ish and sandy, be mindful of your steps. Also, if you're adventurous enough to venture into the water, be mindful! Slippery and heavy current in some spots. read more

What an amazing place! My kids had a blast here. Lots of fun places to climb and tons of water (as long as you go early enough in the season). It's really close to the parking lot so it's not a huge hike to get in. Definitely would go back. read more

The vortex isn't on Yelp and it's in this general area so this is where my review goes. The Vortex is an awesome hike my sister found. We traveled about 45 minutes from where we were staying. Got blessed with an overcast day, started cold but we were so grateful as we got hiking, absolutely no shade on this trail. A bit hard to follow the trail, we ran into a few people who helped us find the way. You climb endless beautiful red rocks. It's about 2.5 miles round trip, the kids with us did great. Once you get to the top there is hundreds of cairns and a killer view. It was all worth it and very breathtaking. You climb up a few more red rocks and find the vortex. You climb down in and see how truly amazing Mother Nature is. read more

Drove 2hours to get here from Vegas and apparently the water was being diverted that day so the falls were completely dry. Such a giant disappointment! And this is after checking online to make sure it was in fact open. Place felt kind of dirty too. read more
