When we arrived there was no one at the booth. We used their radio on the counter to call for them but no one responded. We waited a full ten minutes before walking down to the water to look for someone and finally found two employees, evidently they did not hear the radio with them. They were not ready for our reservation of 3 so we had to wait for them to get a paddle board ready. One of the oars we had was broken and kept coming apart. They were very aloof/quiet and did not explain rules, where to go, how to use the boards, etc. We kind of just sat there until one of them said we could go. Our reservation was at 12 and we did not get onto the water until 12:30. We came back to the booth halfway through our reservation to get water and there were no employees around, so we just left our paddle boards on the shore. They did let us be late back because they said they "didn't care" so we stayed out until 4:20. The new employee on shift was more friendly and took our paddle boards for us. The lake itself was beautiful and there was plenty to see, but the business wasn't very professional. read more

This was our second time coming out to the lake and enjoyed Dig paddlesports as well as the jet skiing with Mad moose company. Dig paddlesports has paddle boards, kayaks, and I even saw a sign that said they did yoga on the water? One of the best things my group enjoyed were the giant water mats. On my way to Washington County I looked up Quail Creek for things to do. I found on the state park website that Dig offered kayak rentals so I decided to give it a try. The price was great for a short rental. Shortly after reserving my time on the Dig Paddlesports website I received a call about the reservation. Originally booked for an AM rental, the associate let me know of the best time to be out on the water that day was mid morning and offered to move my time if I wanted. It was a nice to have insights from a local professional. On the day of the rental I met the owner Bill and learned more about his business and his passion for outdoor adventures. He was friendly and personable which was helpful for someone passing through. I went out on the water and had a great time. The natural beauty of Southern Utah combined with support from DIG made may trip eventful. I would recommend to stop by Quail Creek state park and ask Dig about different rental options, you will not regret looking into this place. read more

It's a highlight for today. Definitely highly recommended! To get into the state park, you will need to pay a fee, we paid $20 for one vehicle. We setup a beach tent under a huge tree then went to the rental shop. They also sell ice cream in the shop. We brought our own floating and rent one paddle and kayak. The lake was pretty stable only the jet boats will make some waves so it's not hard to stay balanced on the paddle even for first timer. We really enjoyed! Great place to go during the summer especially during heat wave. read more

I've used DIG Paddlesports for at least 10 years off and on. I love that when I want to kayak I just book one through them and I don't have to worry about maintaining it or transporting it. I most always rent a single kayak, but have tried their double before. I've always had good experiences and the staff has always been very nice. They'll give you some tips if you need them and I love their little food truck they have now. That was a nice surprise for after kayaking for a little treat. If you're going to Quail Creek I highly recommend them. I'll be back again, a couple times before it gets too cold for me to kayak. read more

Bill, the owner of Dig Paddlesports is fantastic. I called up out of the blue asking to rent a pack raft, which is not something they even offer. Bill immediately jumped into action, offering me a pack raft he had left (he had recently sold his pack rafts). He drove to his house and waited for me to drive up from Kanab, which is 1.5 hours. He showed me how to inflate everything, went over all the parts, and made sure I knew how to use all the equipment. The next day, he offered to meet up with me in Hurricane closer to Zion and waited for me for quite a while. Our trip took longer than expected, so we returned the gear to Quail Creek. He was incredibly accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend his business. read more

We rented a double kayak to do the Colorado river, from Glen Canyon to Lees Ferry. The river itself was beautiful but the rowing experience was horrible. The kayak was a heavy albatross with no aerodynamic lines. We were fortunate not to have headwinds or we would have needed rescue. Use someone else, but if you use him, don't rent the below kayak. Fun, affordable, excellent adventure and exercise! This place alone enhanced the quality of Quail Creek State Park. Before Dig Paddlesports, you had to have a boat or haul a kayak to have fun here. Now, anyone can rent a paddle board, kayak, carpet or variety of items right on the lake. I had so much fun for a very affordable price. I paid $25 for a two hour paddleboard rental and it was the best experience of my life. It was a great exercise and then super relaxing to just lay on my board in the lake. In March of 2021, I booked a Lee's Ferry backhaul trip on the Colorado River for May 1, 2021 for six people, with rental of six single inflatable kayaks from Dig Paddlesports LLC. Upon booking, the owner, Bill Ennis, told me to simply arrive sometime before the end of the day, the day before our trip, to pick up our kayaks. However, when we arrived at 5:15 pm that day, none of the kayaks were ready to go, and Bill was gone on another trip with one of the kayaks that we were supposed to be taking. We were told by one of the shop employees that Bill would be back to help us in 20 minutes, but we ended up waiting for him for over an hour. When he finally arrived, he greeted us without any remorse or even acknowledgment of how long he had kept us waiting. When he was showing us how our kayaks worked, he had two kayaks that he said were borrowed from a couple of his friends. One of them was not a single kayak, as we were promised, and was a tandem inflatable kayak. It was very large, and we were concerned about how difficult it might be to maneuver with only one person in it. This kayak was also retrofitted by its owner with additional parts, other than what originally came on it from the manufacturer. He also mentioned that he had never actually seen or used this kayak on a body of water, but that he just trusted that it was in perfect operating condition. This made us question the safety and reliability of the equipment. During booking, I informed Bill that we would only have a minivan to transport these kayaks. I asked if the six inflatable kayaks would fit in the van with six people, and he said "yes". However, it was apparent that day that they were not going to fit. He then offered to have a couple of his friends drop off some hard-shell kayaks at Lee's Ferry, however, this was not an acceptable solution because he had already shown himself to be unreliable, and we would not have the ability to see the conditions of these kayaks before our trip and would not be able to get any tutorial on how to use the equipment before driving the 2.5 hours to Lee's Ferry. Again, this was not the equipment that was promised to us during booking. Our group was put in an uncomfortable position of being asked to lie about our whereabouts upon arriving back to the state park. When Bill was giving us instructions on how to return the kayaks, he mentioned that if we come through the entrance booth to the Quail Creek State Park, we should not tell the attendants or rangers that we had been on the lower Colorado River with the kayaks. He said that they would become upset because of possible Quagga Mussel contamination from the Colorado River. He suggested that we might tell the State Park that we had been in a couple of other bodies of water, other than the Colorado River, so that they wouldn't "freak out" about invasive species. He also suggested that we could just stop the van at the road in back of his shop and return the kayaks from there, so as to avoid paying an additional $20 entrance fee to the State Park and to avoid questions from the booth attendants about our whereabouts. This made us very uncomfortable and was the main reason for our decision to cancel the trip on the spot. We did not want to lie to the State Park and did not want to be involved in any activities that could potentially be violating regulations. When we told Bill that we were canceling our trip, he said that there was a $75 non-refundable fee for the boating guide that he had already paid. This is the only thing that he told us would be non-refundable and that he would give us full credit otherwise. We agreed to that. We originally paid $750 for this trip, so that would bring our refund to $675. However, when I asked for my refund via email, Bill refused to refund anything but the $20 we paid to the State Park upon our entrance. He said that the non-refundable portion was $75 per person, not $75 total, which was not specified at the time we canceled. There was also no stated refund policy. This was extremely poor customer service. Buyer beware. read more

Went here on a "girls trip," we're all older and some hadn't paddle boarded... this was the best experience! We were welcomed, had a lesson, got boards and paddles that fit our sizes and level of experience and went out for two hours. It was so much fun we were able to add another hour and then welcomed back when we finished. They even rinsed our feet for us. I've been meaning to write this review for a while. A few months ago as I was traveling through UT I got in touch with Bill and set up paddle outing. This was part of my effort to paddle in as many states as I can when traveling (you are number 11 Utah). Bill could not have been more accommodating of my schedule and met me at the lake for a sunset paddle. It was great and very convenient off of Interstate 15.
