After delivery we had a few issues that needed to be resolved and Gunnell's picked up the boat, made the adjustments needed and returned the boat in less than a week. Great sales and service staff. They don't even deserve a one star with my awful experience but I have to at least select one. I will never return to Gunnell's and would encourage anyone who is considering them for service to reconsider it!! Facts about my experience: 1. Picked up my boat last week in June. I asked them to please do a full service on it as I was planning to sell the it and wanted to be sure I was providing a reliable boat. THEY HAD MY BOAT UNTIL OCTOBER 4TH!!!! 2. Across the four months they had my boat I called them NINE times to get updates - only got two return calls!! 3. Never told me they charge $300 to come pick up and return the boat. 4. Wanted to charge me $100 to just install the two batteries I had taken off the trickle charger and put in the boat when they came to get it. (I fought and fought this bc I would have installed them myself if I knew it was a $100 charge -they did finally take that off my bill.) 5. They left my boat sitting UNCOVERED out in the hot SC sun the whole time they had it! This caused a few cracks in the vinyl to split wide open (as vinyl does in hot sun!) so the back deck looks rough now!! They admitted to me they didn't realize the covers were in the boat. The boat was covered when they came and picked it up!!! 6. They assured me they take pictures of every boat that comes in for service. I made sure they did this bc the boat had JUST been detailed when they picked it up to take it in and it was spotless!! Just so happens they FORGOT to take pics of my boat! I think this is a lie bc of the new damage to the vinyl on the deck (I have pics of what it looked like when they picked it up!!) 7. Their Service Director admitted to me that my boat "fell through the cracks with the service." But I was calling them all summer about it!! 8. Now that it is post-season, I do not have a buyer audience and this is bc of how long they kept it. 9. Since it was returned to me so late in the year, I called to confirm they had winterized it and they did not. They expected me to bring it back in and pay another $400 for that!! I asked if they could come out and winterize it and they said they need water to do this. I have been boating for years and I KNOW this is not true!! I am not a dummy!! 10. I spoke to the owner of Gunnells and asked what they would do make this right! I told him they should buy my boat and sell it themselves. He said they couldn't do that bc the season is past. EXACTLY MY POINT!! He said he would talk to the GM and see what could be done and call me back. That was two weeks ago and no call back!! I asked if they could reimburse me for the work done (almost $1600) and was scoffed at and asked "So you want us to reimburse you for work we did??" YES!!! 11. Bc I want to give all facts, they did discount my cost by $384 (but remember $100 of the comp was the charge for installing two batteries)! Keep in mind, these are facts! I am not sharing anything that is outside of what happened. I will be putting this review all over the place and make sure my boating friends all take their boats elsewhere. Poorest service I have ever experienced and outside of a little discount, they won't do anything to make it right. I would actually give less than one star, but the app won't let me. I attended a boat show and spoke to the owner of Gunnells about various boats. In deciding which trailer to also purchase, he said unless I planned to take the boat to other lakes (which I don't) that I didn't really need a trailer. He explained how his company has a policy of coming to my particular lake to service boats, and if I scheduled the service when a neighbor also needed service, the service charge for making the trip would be split among anyone who participated. Additionally, when I went to the dealership to purchase the boat, the salesman, Mark, repeated this same promise. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! I needed warranty work performed and so did my next door neighbor. Gunnells refused to do work on his boat until the part for my boat came in. They put him off for a full two months. When my part finally came in, Gunnells did both our repairs, but charged each of us for the full service fee. To put him off for two months and then still charge him the full fee, and to charge me the full fee as well is unacceptable. Both the owner and the sales agent lied to me. I will not support this business and will be sure everyone in my neighborhood knows about the deception as well. read more
