The shear number of items (broken down) at a yard is immense yet drastically different than any other yard. This makes calling to check availability the crux and cause of that need to be on a phone tirelessly. So on a Monday night I was doing some looking around on Car-Part.com. I do this a couple times a week to see if any yards within 50-75 miles may have gotten in a vehicle that I need parts off of. On this particular Monday, I notice that Pollards Salvage Yard in Greenwood SC had a car that they didn't have the previous week. They had a motor that I was very interested in. I did a bit more research and found other parts for the same car. This lead me to believe that the car was still intact. And the engine was probably still in the car. All of this I researched online in an effort not to add to the burden that is the phone bank of a salvage yard. Tuesday Morning I decide to go ahead and drive the 45 miles or so to Pollards. I did not call Gary at all. The engine I wanted is pretty popular, so I just headed there. I knew that there was no way I was coming home with the engine that day if my research was correct and it was still in the car. I had two goals that morning. 1. To confirm that the motor was in fact made the same year as the car(this single year had different heads on the motor). It is not uncommon to find a correct year car with a motor that came from a different year. 2. If all looked correct with the engine, I had ample cash to pay for it and thus keep it from being sold to another person. I arrive at Pollards and there is a sign on a closed gate that states something like "due to COVID you must phone the pollards office, tell them what you want, and they will bring it to the gate. Gary and Pollards decided that is how they were going to do business in the COVID-age, and I had no problem with the way they decide to conduct THEIR BUSINESS. Remember my two goals? Well there was no reason to suspect that even under their version of doing COVID business, I couldn't accomplish my two goals, so on my cell, I called. Exactly like I expected, Gary answered. He did so with a tone and cadence that made it clear he was already up to his eyeballs on the phone LINES. I tried to match that cadence by dispensing with any polite statements such as "how are you." I went straight to it. Told him that I knew he had a new car the year I wanted an engine from. That I would like to just peak at it and confirm the year of the engine, and if all was good, I'd pay for it or leave a deposit. He first words were that the engine was in the car, and it would be two days after I paid for it until I could get it. Fine, I responded, but before I pay that amount I would like to just peak at the 20+ year old car and confirm the pedigree and the year of the engine. He said the car is immaculate except where it was hit. I took that as his belief that the car had the original motor. Sound good but can I just look at the car, because if engine is any other year it's not worth half of that. That's when he repeated that the car was immaculate and said, I have to go and hung up on me. Mind you the entire conversation was well less than a minute but probably around 30 seconds. Picture this if you are still reading. This is a salvage yard, with the emphasis on Yard. It is a rather substantial place that I could not begin to guess how many acres are on his platt. Social distancing would be no problem. There is probably five acre as to every employee, and I did not need an employee. After that 30 second conversation and dealing with the sheer superiority above all others that King Gary lives by, I didn't call back, I didn't decide to email him. I've done business with Gary since he bought the place two handful of years ago. I've dealt with his pompous and frankly arrogant attitude each time. However this time the arrogance, mixed with the COVID mixed with his 30 second dismissal of me and the 1500 dollars I had in my pocket, and I simply decided that if Gary was giving away Mercedes Gullwings, I would not ever again darken his door. He does not deserve any of my money, nor does he deserve that of anyone else that I've seen him deal with. Gary thanks for the parts in the past, but you need not stress over me, because we have seen the last of one another. Perhaps you should take a vacation and get your attitude back to where your arrogance is tolerable to the people who only deal with it because they need something. Good luck.

I am fairly new to Harvest Host but have loved the previous stays so I just looked for a new place to try near me, which led me to clicking on the little icon just south of Greenwood on Hwy 25. That click though...man..that click. Have you ever felt fate reach out and gently guide you? How about slapping you across the head and saying "Whooooweee! This is it!" because that's what it felt like. Reading about Dan's dream and the services he offered caused a weight that I didn't even realize I was carrying to lift from my shoulders. You see, MY dream has been to upgrade my 22 year old Class B Dynamax Starflyte to a LiFePo4 off grid shuttle craft to destinations unknown. I ordered all the stuff to make this happen but learned that what you can't order is experience, know how, and ingenuity. I'm pretty handy, I was an aviation maintenance technician in both the USMC and the Army National Guard, I can read and interpret instructions, I'm capable at troubleshooting. What I couldn't do was figure out what those gosh durned extra things in my electrical bay next to the battery and power panel were. I looked at every schematic I could find, I watched every YouTube video available on upgrading to lithium and an inverter charger but no one showed those two solenoids and what they did. I called and tried to get help from several installers but they were only willing to help me if I bought the parts from them and it was already too late for me to return the several thousands of dollars worth of inverter, batteries, charge controllers, monitors and etc. They wanted to squeeze every nickle they could out of me. Dan isn't that guy. I reached out and he just said "Sure, bring it on over." and the cool thing is, Dan offers multiple levels of assistance from being your Jedi master to letting you drop it off and come back when it's ready. I chose a hybrid of learning from Yoda and helping with what I could while picking Dan's considerably vast wealth of knowledge. It was so incredibly cool when we worked together to solve issues and then test them with a successful conclusion that those of you who don't enjoy sudoku and 10,000 piece puzzles may not be able to appreciate. Let's just say it lead to cheers and fist bumps and immense happiness. So, other than solving all the worlds problems what more does the sanctuary offer you ask? Plenty! If you got into Harvest Host because you love to just throw a dart at a map and go where it lands then you will be very pleased with the cool small town vibe and great local cuisine that Greenwood has to offer. From burgers to BBQ there are too many great places to list, however, very close to the VL Sanctuary is the Cheeseburger House, your cardiologist would say it was to die for! Travel with you dog like I do? You probably are always having to find new places that will engage him and places he can get out some energy. My pup, Harley, who is THE goodest boy that ever wagged a tail was enthralled by animals all around us, chickens, ducks, kitties and a goat, who may actually be the Devil according to Harley. Very close to the VL Sanctuary is Stockman Park. It's small but has a large grassy field and possibly the cleanest and least offensive porta-john I've ever used. A short drive away is the historic Star Fort, a revolutionary war site with some cool remnants of earthen battlements and a couple miles of walking trails. There's also a rails to trails where you can walk that pup more miles than you really would ever want to. So with all that walking and sweating over the work you're doing on your van or RV you may find the need to get a shower. With my electrical system disabled for a few days I had no electric pump and I'm not a member of any of the local gyms so I had to search for a place. Turns out that within walking distance or a short ride is a service station called "Hot Spot" that offers pay showers, problem solved. In this day and age we all need to be connected and the WiFi signal that is provided is VERY good. I was able to watch YouTube, stream video from Netflix, and get in some gaming, yep I'm a bit addicted to Diablo III and Disc Golf Valley, don't be a hater. The last thing I can think of that a weary traveler needs is to unwind and just relax. The hospitality that Dan and Sam offer is amazing, they treat you from day 1 like an old friend and so pleasant to be around that you will feel same about them. There's a cool firepit but I'm out of room!

Take a read and let me explain why I say this. I bought my 2024 Ford F-250 Lariat in for my 15,000 mile service to them on February 24th, 2025. I previously purchased the Ford ESP program for 7yrs, 100,000 miles, so 20 services done every 5,000 miles. At every 5,000 mile increment there is a list of items that are supposed to be serviced on the vehicle. On February 24th when I bought my truck in, Sharry at the front desk and others and then Mike, the service manager didn't even know what was all supposed to be completed on this service interval. Their computer SHOULD HAVE shown them, but I guess they were looking at the WRONG program. I EVEN TOLD THEM what was supposed to be done, but they simply didn't do it all and didn't complete the service. So I left that day with an incomplete 15,000 mile service. After going home, I pulled up exactly what was supposed to be completed online and made another appointment to go back in and have them COMPLETE the SAME 15,000 mile service. This new date they completed the service was on March 14th. When I went in on March 14th, I even showed them and provided them the exact details that they needed to do and who they needed to call, including the phone number and everything to make sure they got paid correctly and didn't charge me for a 2nd service. THEY FAILED TO DO THAT! And charged me for 2 services! This just shows that they have no idea of their job or what they're supposed to do in regards to Ford ESP's. And who am I? Just a dumb consumer I guess, so why listen to me... I just told them how to do their job twice and they didn't listen either time!! They also charged me for a set of wipers on February 24th that were supposed to be free with this service. After showing them this, they refunded me the fee on March 14th. Time goes by and it wasn't until August, I found out that their service department charged me for TWO separate services (of my 20 prepaid services) for the two different dates, which should have only been one service had they completed it the right way the first time. So I began calling Mike, the service manager to get this fixed. He had no idea how to fix it. I again provided a phone number to the Ford ESP program that he needed to call to have a "charge back" done to reimburse me for that 2nd charged service by mistake. I suppose Mike called them, but got nowhere. I called the Ford ESP myself several times and also got nowhere. That was a very frustrating process as well. So THREE (3) months go by of calling Mike at Ballentine Ford and also calling Ford ESP. I eventually got Mark Roberts, their GM involved, but to be frank, he was useless and never even returned calls as he said he would. I kept making calls to Ford ESP and FINALLY got through to a GREAT customer agent who raised it to her supervisor and fixed this reversal of the service for me on November 12th, THREE MONTHS later. "Funny" thing is, after I fixed the issue, I called Mike to tell him and I suppose he told Mark Roberts and then he had the audacity to call me on November 13th to tell me they got it all fixed for me!! HAHA what a joke! OVERALL, WHAT A HEADACHE this whole process was! From beginning to end, just for a 15,000 mile service! If I could give less than 0 stars I would! STAY AWAY from this place if you're smart. I see some other reviews saying that this place is "Great and only waited 15 minutes for their service". That must be only because the service was not done completely to standard by the book, not in 15 minutes! Sad, sad place this is...

She told me that it was the most pleasant and welcoming experience she had ever had at a car dealership. The salesman did everything he could to make sure she got the deal she wanted, which is a lot more than the dealerships in Beaufort were willing to do. Two days later had an oil change and she noticed a noise from the car after she got it back, so she returned to the dealership. The service department dropped everything they were doing and immediately took her car in to look at it. It took several hours to sort it out, and while she waited, they let her use a car to take our grandchildren to lunch. At the end of the day, they returned her car to her with everything fixed and even gave her complimentary bottle of interior cleaner! Brandon and your service crew are top notch!
