I feel they genuinely care about my child and they are very responsive. It is also really wonderful to have a place where kids are encouraged to be themselves. The education is also top notch - challenging, but not overloading kids with homework and busywork. Class sizes are very small and teachers get to know each child.

Art+Wine night provides a solution to this dilemma. Show up with your favorite wine and whatever art skills you do (or don't) possess and Natalya will provide all the supplies and knowledge you need to paint something worthy of displaying in your home. The website shows the project that will be taught on each date so you can pick and choose which nights you want to sign up for. The classes are small which allows Natalya to give everyone individualized instruction. I've been to four Art+Wine nights and I see SO much improvement since my first painting! I had never used oil paint and after taking a 2 session oil class I left with a legit fruit bowl painting. Artists of all skill levels come to Art+Wine night and everyone learns something new or improves their technique. It's a great way to spend a Friday night and accomplish something while drinking!

Meanwhile in this society boys get five stars for existing, while girls get a mediocre applause for being exceptional. I'm so sick of this shit. Why do the choir ladies fawn on the boys so much? It's sick. Every director or other person who is presenting always talks about how the boys are their favorite. They literally say that. To the point that you were BOOed by the audience while praising the boys as your favorite. The audience is done - are you even listening? Can we please stop coddling the boys and finally give the girls the recognition they deserve?

I do not like the new assistant principal. She is really rude and strict. Also last year there was a teacher who broke a kid's personal device because he was playing in class (he shouldn't have been, but the teacher overreacted). I think the school could be way better. The last thing is on the bus, you have to sit in assigned seats. Our bus driver asked us who we wanted to sit with, then purposely didn't put us with our friends. Also, one time I had my leg in the aisle and she immediately put me all alone in the front of the bus.

Manor High School gets 5 stars in my book!!! I have twins who will be juniors this new school year…read moreand have been attending Manor High School since 9th grade. Manor High is such a GREAT school for so many reasons but for me as a parent of 3 kids w/ 2 of them being twins the thought of college costs can be very scary!! BUT Manor High School has partnered up with the ACC in Elgin to offer a free early college program which my twins are in the first class of the Early College program & through this program students can earn an Associates degree by the time they graduate from high school & let me repeat.. This program is FREE!!! All tests, books, courses, bus rides to Elgin ACC, ect ALL FREE!! And not to mention the support for the students is awesome!! Manor ISD as a whole is really growing & I just love how the schools bring in programs for the students to be a part of & to be more supported. Now I'm not saying Manor High is perfect but I am saying as a parent my experience w/ Manor High School is that I do feel that during the times I did have an issue or concern I was heard, which means so much! As a parent of 16 year old boy/girl twins who are in 11th grade it really helps to know that if I ever need extra support or have concerns about my kids schooling that I can reach out to someone at MHS to get that support! Anyone with teenagers knows that sometimes us parents need ALL the help we can get to make sure our kids stay on the right path & to let them know that they can reach for the stars!! And to help us parents not lose our minds or strangle, I mean squeeze ;-) our kids! Happy 2016/2017 school year!! Manor High School Rocks!!!

Wow, what can I say, I feel like we won the jackpot when we found Magellan. our daughter started in…read moreKindergarten and although she isn't very good at adapting or transitions, she immediately fell in love with her teachers and school friends.. There are no cliques and no bullying and when we have had issues we have raised them with the teachers and they have jumped on them to solve them immediately, and unlike other private schools there's no sense of entitlement from the parents or students. Also, because the school is so good at awarding scholarships not everyone is 'rich'! The school also has a great parent teacher association which offer weekly meet-ups and play dates as well as adult only events. Each class also has a WhatsApp chat group so parents can easily communicate with each other. If it sounds like one big happy family you'd be right, that's exactly what it feels like. In terms of academics my adhd child has thrived. Diagnosed at 4 we thought she would struggle but the school has been amazing at supporting her needs and accommodating her. They also offer many different seating types from a bouncy ball chair, to cushions on the floor and other such. It's very holistic and non political and offers many diverse ways of learning. They have a calming corner, encourage reading and emotional open communication as well many other ways of teaching emotional and academic intelligence. They teach in Spanish from day one and introduce Mandarin from 3rd grade, they also teach following the international Baccalaureate which is amazing. It teaches the children self confidence through weekly presentations and teaches them autonomy. Honestly this school is amazing and now it goes until 12th grade we are obsessed and so you will be too. But, sshh don't tell anyone about our secret slice of heaven.

Hands down, my husband and I feel it is best decision we have made for his education. Although it can be a bit pricey, we have felt that it has been worth every dollar. He is growing up to be a well spoken, well thought, caring little human. I love that he is bilingual, but I really love his open minded views and his eagerness to learn. The teachers... the teachers have all been so amazing. They are loving, caring and really take each student's personalities and abilities into consideration as they grow from year to year. As I said, it's not the cheapest option and we do discuss yearly if we will be renewing his tuition-- and, with each year this answer comes easier and easier with an astounding "YES". We love the school, the community, the parents and look forward to many more years at Magellan!

Second grade was okay . But when third grade hit it was very disappointing, homeroom teacher was always out . There was no consistency. Curriculum changed teacher did know it . It was awful. Fourth grade just put the nail in the coffin, when A. Child needs help and ask, the teachers response is , I have to take care of so and so because of behavior. It's sad . My child used to love school but after his fourth grade experience I couldn't let him be punished because of overcrowding of 30 students . I wish I would have taken him out sooner , but when teacher start leaving year after year that should tell you something . We went to KIPP AUSTIN CONNECTIONS .

Our daughter attended Kipp Austin Brave. She has Autism and was bullied relentlessly. Last year,…read more'21-22, she did receive assistance with this but that administrator left. This year, '22-'23, we had to pull her out after she was attacked on the bus and in school. NOTHING WAS DONE. She was told that one of the bullies told the admin that SHE wanted to fight the group. Not true. She was told that she would need to document and submit actions against her. She recorded their taunts and other things from her Kindle. One admin would watch it and then say, "It's not enough...". This is a kid with AUTISM. They want HER to submit actions against her??? The bus driver reported the kids as well. Again, aside from giving the group a "warning" nothing was done. Numerous calls went unreturned from the administration- a total of 23! I would leave messages on their answering machine as no one ever answered the phone. This sort of behavior never used to be tolerated at Kipp. Now, it is because of revenue. They are losing students to homeschooling and online school. The social worker there is completely unprofessional, almost laughing when I spoke with her. Never again. We withdrew our daughter and they can keep the problem students. Furthermore, our daughter has an IEP that was not followed. Teachers had resigned and were not replaced. I am a retired educator and understand that there is now a teacher shortage- who could blame them??? However, there was no support for our daughter's learning disabilities. Two of the group who would bully our daughter would go to her 1st-period class just to taunt her. They were not stopped. It is never OK for a child, any child, to be fearful of going to school. It is never OK for the adults at said school to ignore the cries for help from both that child and her parents. These students told our daughter to, 'f-ing kill herself...", they called her awful names, and again, attacked her on the bus and in the hallways of the campus. It took over a WEEK for the bus footage to get pulled. A week. In the meanwhile, these students continued to go after our daughter who was sitting in the front seat of the bus since last year. No more. I would not trust my child in this school system. When numbers and revenue are more important than children, there is a serious problem.
