I have never had such a horrible experience with the way someone answers the phone and questions like I have had with this clinic. I call many offices because I'm a care coordinator but the way I was treated and yelled at by this older woman was very bad. Not only did she fail to listen to what I needed to ask and was requesting but she even refused to provide a name and refused to let someone else assist me besides her. She kept yelling that I wasn't her boss, when all I called to ask was a confirmation that she had received a faxed that I had sent over. Unbelievable! read more

Dr. Alza's office is near my home and an in-network provider for my insurance, Blue Shield of California. On my second visit to Dr. Alza, they asked me, without explanation, to pay my copay plus $300. When I asked why, they said my insurance had denied my claim. When I called my insurance, they said Dr. Alza's office had failed to provide documentation for my visit. The office then said they would follow up, but wanted me to stay on in the office as they yelled over speakerphone at Blue Shield's provider services representative, who kept repeating that she could only talk to them, not me, and that this was a dispute between them and the insurance company to which I was not a party. Imagine my surprise when I got a threat of collections over this $300 bill some months (and several office visits!) later. When I called Dr. Alza's office, they said I was responsible for paying because my insurance had denied the claim. I was, frankly, gobsmacked, and continue to be. When I called member services at my insurance office, they insisted this was between the doctor's office and the insurer. They gave me the number of Provider Services, who insisted the same thing. I convinced provider services to stay on the line while we called Dr. Alza's office. Dr. Alza's office manager and receptionist refused to give the provider services representative their provider ID information. Then they refused to give information about the appeal they said they'd filed. They kept repeating that I was responsible for the bill if my insurer denied it. It all lies somewhere between astonishingly incompetent administration and customer service and, I guess... lightweight insurance fraud? It really took my breath away. Rather hilariously, after sending me the collections threat, they called to ask if I needed any more appointments for anything. Whoever heard of a sales call from a doctor's office? Where do I start?? His wife is committing fraud and taking advantage of all the elderly patients making them pay fake deductibles for Medicare. My mom recently experienced her forcing her to pay first a $200 non existent deductible for Medicaid and even threatening to not be seen if she didn't pay. My mom refuse to pay since she has full coverage through Medicare and Medicaid. Then Gina the wife/office manager asked to give her (my moms debit) and pay whatever she could. Who does she think she is? MY mom had to give her $20, $10 for her and $10 for my disabled brother. She didn't provide them with a receipts either after the payment. At this point she wanted to take whatever money she could. I called the following day and confronted her, she lied to me and wouldn't let me talk. She totally denied even asking for her debit and denied confronting my elderly mother. I have work in finance constantly running eligibility for the last 12 years so I knew she was lying and was pocketing this so called deductibles from patients since these deductibles do not exist. She was rude and proceeded to hung up on me. This has not been the first time she tries to take money from my mom but b**** messed with the wrong family. Dr. Alza is very unprofessional, all he does is prescribe the same medications for all symptoms, doesn't take the time to examine and is walking in and out the room answering phone calls and questions from the wife/office manager. My mom recently told him that she's been having a lot of pain in her hands and she thought it might be arthritis and he just stated they were cramps from the weather. Really??? Also every visit she never gets examine, all he does is sit in front of his computer and changed the medication but nothing beyond that. All he wants to do is create a note to bill for my mom and brother. As for my brother, he's been asking for a dermatologist referral and has refused every single time. He just keeps prescribing a stupid ointment that's has done nothing! Everyone please stay away from this poor of excuse clinic! read more

If you want responsiveness, personalized attention, and thorough medical advice, look no further than Dr. Alza. I first went to him back in July of 2020 for a physical and flu shot and he is now my primary physician of choice for all of my general health needs. When I had spoken to different doctors in the past, I felt as though it was all about moving on to the next client and didn't feel like I was receiving the adequate personalized attention. I had become accustomed to this way and accepted it as the norm. Luckily, when I moved to a new area and had to try a new doctor, Dr. Alza was the one I went to. He sat down and really took the time to listen to what was going on in my life, and made valuable and credible suggestions, without pushing his agenda. Dr Alza has been my doctor for 30 years. He is a great doctor. He truly and genuinely cares for his patients. He will listen and spend as much time as YOU need to make sure he addresses all of your medical needs. He always explains and even educates me on my particular health issues. I recommended Dr Alza to all of my family members, so he took care of my parents, he takes care of my husband and my brother in-laws . Other family members live too far. My husband takes many medications and Dr. Alza has a special system which makes it super easy to organize all of his pills. No other doctor does this. Location/Parking: Easy access from the 110 Fwy, easy parking. I actually parked right in front of the office and just walked in the office (my very first visit, referred by a friend who knows Dr. Alza for at least 20 years). Office: Clean, comfy, plenty of magazines to read, wall-full of Dr. Alza's certificates/achievements (quite impressive indeed) to read, and I was comfortable while filling up the necessary paperwork. Very efficient, polite, courteous front office staff! The Doctor: This is what should matter most! I found him to be the "best" doctor I've visited in the last 38 years (and NO, I am NOT getting paid to write this review). Dr. Alza takes his sweet time to know a new patient. He will ask you questions, so be prepared. He asked me questions which are necessary and pertinent to my health, lifestyle, sleep, mood, everything, etc. All the while he was typing it in the computer. I believe this creates a patient-treatment profile. Although I got quite a few meds for my treatment, surprisingly all of them are working quite well. I feel much better than the condition I had walked in to his office. The "soft-touch": 1. Before I left the office, my prescription was transmitted to a local discount pharmacy, less than 2 miles where meds are about 40-60% less than regular drugstores (no kidding)! 2. The following day I received a follow-up call from Mrs. Alza about my well being and visit to the office the previous day. I don't believe she's a doctor. I've been looking for a primary care physician for some time now and went to Dr. Alza on a recommendation from a friend. Usually the moment you walk into a doctors office, you feel sluggish and out of place because who really wants to go to the doctor? But the energy inside makes you feel comfortable and at home, especially the staff who operate the front room. Fast forward to my actual physical, Dr. Alza took all the time I wanted to listen to all of my questions and concerns and then explained everything I wanted to know with much detail. He made me feel very secure in my choice to go see him. Before I knew it an hour had whisked by and I was very surprised because I've definitely been rushed out of an exam room before and can't stand that feeling. The vibe in the office is so friendly and kind. He always keep it professional and his office is always cleaned. Executive summary: In short, stay away. If you are a woman, stay FAR away. Details below. Having better care makes me realize how harmful Alza was, both professionally and personally. Here are a few of the most serious concerns in hindsight: 1) My experience with Dr. Alza was that he habitually recommended new, additional medications. I should have sought out a second opinion, because it turns out I was being significantly over prescribed. My next doctor eventually took me off more than half the things that Alza prescribed. I feel SO MUCH better. 2) Alza told me I was "too high strung" to have children on a couple of occasions when I discussed my plan to get pregnant in the future. Further, he said, "Your children will take after you - do you want that?" It made me feel horrible. After that last comment, I went home in tears. After having better care, eventually I shared his comments and their context with my doctor. I wanted to address any issues that I could. She was stunned and told me: a) that an unprofessional way to communicate, b) she strongly disagreed with his categorization and opinion, c) I should have left his care sooner. That seems obvious to me now. 3) Alza commented on my weight every single time I went in. "Fat" was bandied about regularly - I'm 5'7" was a size 12-14 at the time. It was shaming rather than a medical opinion. Again, it made me feel horrible. After getting better care and getting off Alza's overmedication regime, I've lost over 40 lbs. with no significant changes to my diet/exercise routine. 4) Alza repeatedly compared me to his wife, which was very weird. On one occasion, he told me his wife went to law school (I'm an attorney and was in law school at the time), but she made the "important choice" to stop working when they started having children. My father has been seeing Dr. Alza for just over two years... Dr. Alza is a very knowledgeable & professional Doctor. When he consults with patients he is present, never in a rush. He answers all questions and concerns to your satisfaction in every day language terms. He is very patient. There have been a few times that it takes almost 2 hours to finally see him....but then when you are with him and have his full attention you come to understand the reason for the wait. Dr. Alza is also very responsive beyond his office hours. I've been impressed about his at your service attitude the times I have called him with a concern that needs quick attention....a prescription was authorized over the phone and my Dad had peace of mind! Dr. Alza took me in and listened to me for a good 30 minutes. She has absolutely no compassion, and will not refill prescriptions when the pharmacist requests it. My pharmacy leaves a minimum of 3 messages, and three faxes, before I actually have to call and follow up with the dr's office. She always tells me, "I haven't received anything. I can not say enough to WARN anyone from trusting this office. They were recommended to me to take care of my family member who is confined to a Convalescent Hospital. Their treatment of him was average and their billing department WORSE. Medi-Cal/Medi-Care takes care of those that can not take care of themselves - there is no payment due from the patient. Yet out family was billed over $800+ because they billed the insurance companies incorrectly. We sent proper documentation from the State Dept of Health to them to prove that they were in the wrong - however the HEAD of their accounting department wouldn't listen to or read anything we had to say. They then proceeded to attach the amount via a collections agency to MY personal credit report (which I just found out about and had it promptly removed). ~ This situation started back in 2010 with them .. and they are still harassing us! I found this doctor on yelp and found the location of his office very convenient. I gave it a try and got a physical done . My insurance covers the physical, including the blood tests. They refuse to tell me my test results unless I make another appointment and pay the co pay just to hear the results of the test . That is ridiculous . I went to see Dr. Alza the other day for the first time and I walked right in. No appointment just gave a call and they said come on down. Waited about 15 min which is shorter than my old doctor with an appointment 2 weeks in advance. After seeing Dr. Alza I was very happy with his Dr.'s prognosis. He gave me a little hope and a couple more treatment methods I had not heard about or been offered at the 2 previous dr's I've seen. He took a good long time to talk with me at length and in detail about my ailment giving me a better understanding of my condition. The front desk was very friendly and overall my experience was definitely above average. The attention he gives to his patients and the amount of time he spends on each patient is clearly above and beyond what most doctor's provide. Two thumbs up! Very thorough. read more

Dr. Alza has been a long and trusted Family Doctor to us for at least two decades now. His attention and demeanor to not only to my family but to all of his patients is one of the greatest benefits that he provides. If there is any negatives, it is the wait time to see him. However, this is solely and completely because he takes the time to not just see you, he cares for you, both physically and emotionally. Every single time I accompany my grandmother, the wife has to have some kind of altercation with a patient. Whether it be on the phone or even in person. She has no class, no manners and is cold hearted, considering most of the patients are elderly. The other staff members are kind, but are always running behind. I DREAD going to this office because they always take so long. I'd have to say today was the worst day there! They took THREE HOURS to get my grandmother in to see the doctor.
