I cannot recommend this attorney. His handling of my personal injury case fell far below professional standards and had serious consequences. Communication was minimal and inconsistent. He recorded my injury date incorrectly and later claimed he never received the corrected information I sent. His assistant confirmed that I had, in fact, sent the correct date. Unfortunately, this error greatly impacted my case, because it caused my case to go past the statute of limitations. He didn't file my case until two years later. I was told by my attorney that my case was progressing well, which was inaccurate." After I terminated his services, the assistant indicated that attending an upcoming court hearing was not necessary. I relied on that guidance, and my lawsuit was subsequently dismissed. Throughout the case, I had to repeatedly request referrals to a pain management doctor, with limited follow-through. They informed me that they couldn't afford to pay the pain management doctor and that I had to pay out of pocket. The attorney also shared confidential case information with a mutual acquaintance via email. The consequences of this negligence have been life-altering. I am no longer able to care for my legally blind husband, and after 36 years, we were forced to move out of our home to live with our son, who is now our caregiver. Several attorneys who have reviewed my situation advised that these circumstances may warrant a legal malpractice claim. Jaime Gutierrez has affected our lives tremendously by his actions and his incompetence. How he gets away with his many legal errors is unconscionable. My experience did not reflect the level of support and advocacy he promotes. I strongly advise anyone considering retaining this attorney to exercise EXTREME CAUTION. read more

My BFF hired Jaime Gutierrez over two years ago and she had been getting the run around during this while time. Delay after delay and little to no information about her case. She's been waiting for nearly a month for all of the information on her case and court records, dates, etc. and all she gets excuse after excuse after excuse. After two years she is still getting billing statements and they told her that her amount due is going to collections. The assistant says he's called them, but it seems they are not getting his messages for some unknown reason. She had to beg to be seen by the pain management doctor they initially sent her too. RUN! Do no hire James P Segall Gutierrez unless you want to be ripped off for your money. Paid Mr. Gutierrez to draft a simple declaration for me in October 2020 after SEVERAL months of no contact and no declaration I asked for a refund. His secretary Cynthia agreed that they dropped the ball and did not follow through and agreed to refund me all my money. I show up to his office to pick up the check and they only refunded half stating that work was performed. March 2021 someone in his office drafted a declaration that was full of lies against my sons father. I was not comfortable signing this declaration and advised both Cynthia and Mr. Gutierrez that the declaration was full of lies. I am not going to perjure myself in court documents, not only is this unethical of Mr. Guttierrez to do, but also puts me in a very bad situation in my child custody case. I would also like to add that the declaration was written with so many grammatical errors definitely not something any attorney would be proud to claim as his own work. Total waste of time and such a joke of an attorney. My declaration was for a very important matter involving my son, this attorney did not care!!! Family law is not something to play with, hire an attorney that actually cares. HE DID NOT SHOW UP FOR MY COURT TIME!!!!! He refuses to refund the 800.00 I gave to him just to make this one custody appearance with me. I had to fend for myself without an attorney present. Desperate for an attorney to help me with an appearance in court, I paid 300.00 to make an appointment just to speak with Mr Gutierrez. While I was there he said for an additional 500.00 he would make an appearance in court with me. Once I left his secretary called and asked for another 600 to file an expense form (something I already filed) I said no, i do not have any money I had to borrow the 800.00 jut for the 1 appearance. I hired Attorney James Gutierrez on April 16 2021 I paid him $1500 and when I sign the contract shows 6 hours credit after that each hour was going to be $250 for each extra hour of work. I had an appointment on 06/08/2021 at 1:30pm with the attorney to discuss about my case and he had a bill for more that $4800. and when I asked him to show me the work that he did for me, Cynthia the secretary did not make sense she told me it was submitted to the court already and I ask why I didn't sign anything and Cynthia told me the attorney sign for me " I DID NOT GIVE HIM THE POWER OF ATTORNEY TO SIGN ANYTHING FOR ME" I ask Cynthia to print the documents they did and she print something with my name but was not my address and all the information on those papers was wrong and till today 06/21/2021 I have been checking on line what has been submitted to the court and they don't have anything also when I was at his office he had the substitution of attorney sign by him to represent my self and with no explanations he ask me to leave because he had an other appointment, the same day he was charging me $375 an hour and I request to return my files till today 06/21/2021 he refused to give it back to me. So I when to hire and other attorney Olsen & Olsen on 06/11/2021 and on June 14 15 and 16 we been emailing the substitution of attorney to James and we didn't received anything back my court was coming up on July 06 and they DON'T answer or return my calls. He just gave me the run around for a year! My husband was incarcerated in LA county jail may 10th 2016 he was sent to the hospital end of June & died There on July 10th 2016. James met with my daughter & I the next day! I remember he was talking to us & was falling asleep he claimed he worked on a case real late! Lol we didn't sign any contract cause he claimed he was missing some sheets or something, so he said he was going to send all papers necessary and email me to sign electronically! Meanwhile I came back to Fresno to make all necessary arrangements to bury my husband we lived in Fresno. Months went by I would call the office leave a message letting him know that I hadn't received his email. Finally he had an attorney call me wanted to know what happened to my husband! I didn't hear from him again for a couple of months, finally he asked me if I could come to his office I remind him that I live in Fresno I would have to take the bus and if it could be on the weekend and he said yes he would meet me on Saturday so I went on the bus first to Riverside with my sister-in-law and we drove to LA spent the night to meet him in the morning and he did not show I text him & called finally he answered said he could not make it if I can come Monday morning I remind him I was coming from Fresno so he said he was going to meet us in the morning he never showed! But he did answer my call, again he said he was sending the paper work electronically for me to sign. That never happened. Exactly one year I received all the medical papers I sent him regarding my husband and said he could do nothing for me. I was told by a another attorney that he blew any chance of us getting justice for my husband! Went to this office Sept 5 2014 for dissolution of marriage (divorce). He talks the talk to get that initial retainer of $2000 but then after waiting and waiting and yes waiting even more time a total of 5 months and trying to contact him in person or phone at no avail. I managed to get one visit where he ensured me things were on track last month but here we are 5 mo and 10 days later and not a damn thing was done .no court date no feedback no nothing. Probably because he pawned his work off to some unmotivated wetback peon in his office to do the work. I told his staff he obviously doesnt want to represent small potatoes like me then he shouldnt take the money and so today I was told he is giving me back my file and to find someone else.
