TLDR Version: Climatrol / Super Gutter & Screen is a completely incompetent fence company that will try to overcharge you by hundreds or thousands of dollars for their mistakes and even install your fence in the wrong spot! Long Version: I contracted Climatrol / Super Gutter and Screen for our fence because they put in all of Pulte's fences and a few other neighbors' fences. I figured it would be easy, they knew the HOA and city rules and I wouldn't have to worry about anything. In fact, that is how their salesman pitched them as the best choice. The first problem was chasing them down for an updated quote after I wanted to extend my fence by a few feet. That took over 2 weeks with multiple calls and emails and it should have been my first clue to use a different company. The second problem came after Super Gutter submitted our permit paperwork to the city. I noticed on the city's online permit site that our permit was denied. I notified Supper Gutter and asked why. Mind you they should have been checking and pro-actively communicating the status with me, not the other way around. Super Gutter emailed me that it was because our survey was too old and it would "only" cost us $500 to get a new survey with their suggested provider. Our survey was a little over 6 months old! Super Gutter should have known to push back on the city that they were incorrect instead of telling us to spend $500 for a new survey we did not need. Luckily, I knew better and I told them to re-submit and point out the date on the survey. The permit was again denied because Super Gutter is incapable of communicating clearly. I wrote a one-page document describing the issue and why the city was wrong. I asked Supper Gutter to re-submit with this letter. The permit was finally approved. Because the city twice denied our permit, they charged us nearly $300 in penalty fees that would technically be passed on to us per our contract with Super Gutter. I was so angry about this that I went to the city permit office in person and requested the penalty fees be dropped. The city agreed to remove 1 of our 3 penalty fees. They noted the other 2 penalty fees ($175) were caused by Super Gutter submitting bad engineering paperwork. I told Super Gutter about the issue and that I would not pay for the $175 in penalty fees caused by their paperwork issues. They finally agreed after a week of my pressing. About a week ago it was finally time to install the fence. By the time I was able to go out to double-check the fence placement, it was installed in concrete in the wrong spot on every side! It was too close to our home by several inches on both sides. They also extended the fence 4 feet! beyond our property line into the HOA's property. They did not extend the fence far enough towards the front of the house on either side. After insisting multiple times, they finally sent a supervisor and he agreed the fence was in the wrong spot and would be fixed the next day. The supervisor was fantastic and had the fence moved the next day. He also had multiple deep scratches and damaged spots repaired the next week after I pointed them out. I shouldn't have had to inspect the fence for those quality issues, but at least they were addressed. Yesterday I finally received our final invoice and it was for around $1,100 above what I was expecting to pay. Of course, the 2 penalty fees were still included and the rest of the errors were $188 in suprise fees that we were never told about. The bulk of the error was a math error that I had to point out twice. After receiving a second erroneously high invoice, I finally just provided an Excel with the correct math for adding up the 4 numbers they were incapable of adding up. I can't believe how much time I wasted micromanaging this awful company and how much extra money (nearly $1,800!) I would have wasted if I hadn't carefully looked into everything they tried to charge me extra for. Save yourself this grief and don't even think about using this company.

Even though I always remind contractors to tidy up afterward, we still found screws, nails, empty water bottles, and other materials left behind -- unfortunately, this seems to be common with many companies. We also had an issue with the placement of one downspout. It was installed right next to our hose spigot, leaving no room to turn it on or off. We had to have the company return to adjust it. Overall, the work got done, but there were a couple of details that could have been handled better.

Instead, the balance has repeatedly been disputed without supporting documentation while significantly reduced settlement amounts were proposed despite the work having been completed and delivered. As a small business owner, this has been incredibly disappointing. I believe businesses should honor the agreements they sign and pay for services they receive. I've exhausted every reasonable effort to resolve this matter privately before leaving this review.
