After vetting several roofing companies I decided on McClung Roofing as they presented as fairly priced, accommodating, happy to answer all of my questions and had superb communication. The point person for the consult, Jesse, was was wonderful to work with and elicited a lot of confidence in the company. Once the job began the crew proceeded efficiently and it was clear that the company was well run. We did experience a snafu mid install, an over site of one of the employees, which was discovered over the weekend..... The owner John McClung, personally cut his trip short to come to my home immediately to address the issue. He was very willing to take responsibility and took measures to rectify the situation both within the company and fixed the problem with no costs to me. John, personally came to my home several times to insure my satisfaction and went above and beyond to support my progress in several ways. The true test of of a company's success is not always having the most employees, lowest price or fastest results, but in having the most integrity, professionalism, and customer's confidence, especially in the face of unexpected difficulties. His guys came and they replaced all the boots on my roof when I told them to stop they ignored me. He sent me a huge bill for all of the work claiming that he was doing me a favor because he has the experience and knowledge and knows what needs to be done. That may be true but I wasn't prepared to pay a huge bill for problems I didn't have. He totally took advantage of the fact that I am a single woman. Make sure to read all of his reviews because this is not the only one star! He's creepy and dishonest and I'm sure he'll post a response that will say something completely different!

We followed their recommendation, worked with a plumber, and then had DLV make some other small fixes they'd recommended. When they came out for the repairs, they went above and beyond by painting the white pipe the plumber put in to make it blend with the roof more. They didn't charge extra for that, they just took the initiative. Also had a great experience with the scheduling staff. Katherine was even able to coordinate with us to have the team come sooner when there was a cancellation.

The first crew turns out to be subcontracted (even though DLV's salesman emphatically stated they don't subcontract), it was this crew who refused to install the hip shingles because the color clashed so badly. After waiting six weeks for the correct hip shingles to arrive through the hail and storms of April they then send a second subcontracted crew. Of course the second crew neglects to trim back the material at the ridge vents creating complete blockage, I bring this to DLV's attention and they argue with me, I say I'm bringing in an engineer, and they say let's have a certainteed inspector look at it for my 5-star warranty, of course the inspector sides with me. Stay away, far, far, away. This Asheville, NC DLV organization, sucks, plain and simple. I would have been better off with a storm chaser, stay far, far away. James, are you listening?

Let me tell you...this is now the THIRD time that Jeff has been a crucial part of our home buying process, and we'll are customers for life! My family moved to the Asheville area from Los Angeles nearly 2 years ago, and we knew that we'd be jumping in the real estate investment market once we arrived. I also started a small renovation and interior design company after landing here. With that in mind, we knew the first home that we'd purchase in WNC would be a renovation project that we would live in for a couple years while renovating, and then eventually convert it into a vacation rental. The house that we ultimately purchased was my 7th offer. It was insane. FIVE other offers of mine on fixer uppers were outbid, and the sixth was actually a property that I put an offer on (and felt like it was priced extremely low). When the seller countered, I was on the fence and told them I wanted to get an inspection before accepting the counter. The seller's agent actually provided me with an inspection that had been prepared by Jeff and I was blown away. The level of detail, thorough and labeled photographs, wide variety of issues covered, and extremely helpful notes and descriptions throughout the report were so impressive. In fact, this report was what ultimately helped me decide not to purchase that property. But the best part of that process was walking away knowing that whatever home I would ultimately purchase MUST be inspected by Jeff. By the time I finally found the 7th home, I had already come and left Asheville. At this point, time was running out and I knew I'd just have to take a leap of faith and purchase our home sight unseen. It was a gutsy move, but the only thing that truly gave me the confidence to do so was having Jeff perform the home inspection for me. He was my eyes and ears on the ground. His comprehensive report was so thorough, honest, and comprehensive. I already knew that it would take some work, but it really assisted me to pinpoint exactly what I needed to focus in on. At the moment I landed in Asheville with our kids, my husband drove our five pets 2,300 miles cross-country. All I had was exactly the 6 days between closing and when we needed to have the house ready to move in. Our buyer paid for a septic inspection from Quality. They showed up, hit the power line to our…read morepump, and left. Never completed the inspection and left the broken electrical line in our backyard. Several hours later someone showed up to "fix" the line. A few days later our septic guy came to put on a riser and found a buried electric cap. Upon digging further he found an exposed wire and a second cut area in the line, neither of which were properly wrapped for underground lines. We ended up paying an electrician to properly fix the issue and I called the owner of Quality to let him know what happened. He responded that it's in their contract the buyer pays for any damage they cause to the property and that I should be happy they didn't charge me to come back and fix it the first time. He then proceeded to hang up on me. If you are thinking of using them I would take caution. Their business policy seems to be putting blame on others.
