They came out and gave me an estimate where a competitor wanted to come out and do the work but wouldn't give me a ball park number first. Others didn't respond. The weather caused the appointment to be pushed multiple times (snow and high speed winds which is what caused the damage in the first place), but the work is done and the gutter appears very secure now. Pricing seemed reasonable for the time and materials used. They were friendly and open to various payment options. The estimate came slightly under the quote, (rounding distance so very slight) which is always nice. Notes: I know it's hard being a contractor and taking calls while working, but more prompt notifications about appointments being moved would be nice. Communication wasn't timely but I had the sense that there wasn't a home office fielding work, so I'm certainly more understanding. Hard to be timely when you're dangling from roofs trying to get work down before the next storm wave. They were certainly better than some other contractors I recently worked with.

My gutter was formed onsite to the custom requested length, which was fun to watch! My gutter had fallen due to water/ice build up and weight. They reinstalled my multiple piece gutter with a single piece and doubled the reinforcements to ensure it wouldn't fail again. Additionally they were willing to install a bird screen while they were up there (tall two story house) Overall I was happy with the speed of service, removal and disposal of the old gutter, the installation and final look. I'd have loved to get it all at the ball park price, but I felt like I still got a good deal for everything. Based on this experience I'd absolutely recommend.

Told him we'd think about it over the weekend and contact him Monday. Monday rolls around, I call. Owner has left for vacation. Leave a message telling him I wanted a quote on a different window manufacturer and call again the next week. Find out that he's left town for a few months and will contact me when he gets back. Apparently no one else can do anything there. So fast forward to the beginning of May. Call and tell them I already bought the windows elsewhere since I wanted to get them on order with a long lead time and no one at Sahlems could bother quoting me, but wanted to proceed with the siding quote. I get a call back 2 weeks later from some lackey telling me that the owner feels "uncomfortable" doing the siding because he isn't doing the windows, and feels the windows will leak. Whatever, maybe if you bothered to return my numerous calls or had someone in the office competent enough to answer my questions, this could have worked out differently.
