My experience hasn't been the best…read more The first issue is a roof leak that started 2 months ago. Amherst didn't offer a temp solution and it took them two months to replace. Part of the delay was definitely weather (thankfully the leak was minor), but there was poor communication through that process requiring multiple follow ups on my end so I could have an understanding of progress. The initial estimated time had been 3 weeks (seemed optimistic to me). Two months is obviously a bit of a difference and more than I was expecting, even with weather. Holidays probably came into play, but no communication. Promised communications didn't happen, consistently. I have sympathy due to the weather but the lack of a communication/follow up on promises is a negative mark. Estimate: onsite estimate service was friendly, helpful, and solution oriented. This won me over vs other companies that were "do the minimum" and some just knocked and then left without talking with one that even failed to send an estimate. Pricing was similar to the competitors that responded and sent me a quote. Amherst was only a couple hundred higher. I was willing to pay slightly more based on the positive estimate experience and reviews, but I question the wisdom of that now. Onsite: One of the workers peed on the snow in my back yard. I don't know why they didn't ask for the bathroom, but dude... gross. Don't worry, I didn't photograph. I know people gotta go, been there, but I have a bathroom. Also, my garage door was slightly opened about 6"(currently it's busted because a cable jumped the spool and so it requires work to open and gets stuck unless you work it). It's been closed for days waiting for a warmer/dryer period for me to spend a couple of hours attempting to fix. This makes me suspect the worker who peed in my yard also attempted to access my garage, but my camera didn't capture it so I'm uncertain. Not sure why else it'd be open on the day they did work. It was closed before. Thankfully opening all the way would have made a huge screeching racket, so while I haven't checked I suspect nothing was stolen. They needed a spot for a large dumpster placed in my driveway and cars to be removed. Just heads up that they'll want a dumpster as close to the roof as possible. Colors were slightly different from initial conversations (trim was supposed to be black (based on remembered verbal conversation) but were white. Roof tiles were green and the fact they were a very different green wasn't brought up until installation day. I appreciated it being pointed out but I was a little annoyed it wasn't mentioned on the front end. Cleanup: I didn't understand why reviewers posted about the "good cleanup" jobs of contractors. Oh boy do I understand now. We found 16 nails in our drive way in just five minutes of looking in a 10'x10' space. (Checking this morning: Our deck has nails and in our neighbors driveway I found 4 nails.) Thankfully we still had daylight to check our driveway before parking our cars as I'm pretty sure we'd have lost at least one tire. I'm extremely unhappy about this as magnets exist and can be used to sweep for nails or metal detectors can be used. Those methods would both be cheaper than me replacing my tires and I'd absolutely be looking for reimbursement. Also nails on my wife's office front steps that she didn't notice last night but were twisted and could have caused harm. Her reaction is significantly less calm than my post might indicate as she STRONGLY vented her feelings about it. Thanks Amherst. I had been two stars, but that dropped it to one. Photos: I was promised photos of work done, but they haven't been sent as of this review. The job itself? Ask me in ten to 30 years I guess. I mean, a roof lasting is sort of the bare minimum of expectations. What sucks is that this had seemed the BEST of the contractors I received quotes from and based on Reddit reviews. I've only had a couple positive experiences with Buffalo contractors and I'm not sure if this is a sign of the times or specific to Buffalo. Before COVID when I lived in other states/cities my experiences were significantly better with contractors. Now it feels like there's a bare minimum level of care to do a job well. Paying a little more doesn't seem to have gotten me a little more. Will I use again? Right now that feels unlikely but the other vendors seemed like they would be equally bad so I'd probably check Reddit/yelp for the most recent reviews as things change. At least, in theory, I have a lifetime warranty.

On this visit I heard a strange banging outside the second story bedroom and realized that the flashing under the eve had come off and was hitting the power cable coming from the pole to the house. Mom is 88 and I'm not a spring chicken either, so the thought of finding a giant ladder and trying to fix this was out of the question. I had remembered that Robert's did the siding in the 90's, the garage roof in early 2000, and put 2 new windows last year. They did beautiful work each time, so I decided they should be my first call. I explained my situation to Sarah and she immediately hooked me up with Jerry. He remembered my Mom and her house and said "I got a few guys in the neighborhood, I'll send them by this afternoon"! What incredible service!!! Twenty minutes after talking, two great Techs were in Mom's driveway! They searched the bushes and found all the parts that had fallen off and then re-attached them. They then went and made sure all the other pieces were secure. Less than a half hour later, the problem was solved! I talked with the techs about two areas where the siding had gotten damaged by the trees and they said they could see if they could find some matching siding. I didn't think it could be possible almost 30 years after it was installed. This morning they showed up and fixed the damage and you can't even tell where it was! Beautiful work! Great Service! Robert's Roofing is the Best Choice for Siding, Roofing and Windows!

Complete roof replacement in November 2024. March 2026 - roof is leaking. It took about 3 weeks for a "temporary fix". Roof is leaking again - "permanent fix". Roof is leaking again - another pair of "temporary fix" and "permanent fix". Each time a new guy comes in, each time they find a new issue, each time "it's fixed for good now", each time it is not. It's been 3 months since the first leak; we are still doing back and forth. And don't get me started on drywall and insulation damage. Who I interacted with * Matthew Z - sales * Tony G - project manager (install and one of the fixes) * Matthew - fix * Elijah Simon - fix * A couple more guys whose names I didn't write down for other fixes and assessments * Bob - Director of production in Buffalo area - for coordinating fixes and drywall repair * Charlie Ray - General manager - for one text message of "we are better than this" kind with complete ghosting after that --- Now, to the long story, if you are interested. Installation (November 2024) The only two instances when I was able to speak with Tony (PM) were the call in the morning "we will be there and start in 30 minutes," and "let's go look at the roof and sign the bunch of papers" in the evening. Despite sales promising constant communication and updates. Despite multiple assurances by sales, scheduling and website of "On arrival PM will introduce themselves to you and review the job details with you". It never happened same as "PM will give you their phone number". Same stuff with "communicate any change orders with you (i.e. Lumber Charges". New lumber was brought in without any interaction with me. It was 100% needed, but it would be good to be in the loop. Cleanup was decent, but not super thorough. I collected about a 64 oz jar's worth of nails in the days after installation, including ones on a driveway. Plus some loose nails in the spring in gutters, in the attic, and on the lawn. A whole 2025 flew buy without apparent incidents - shingles are still on the roof, no apparent leaks. March 2026 - a small leak appeared. But I have a 20- or 25-year warranty, right? Yeah... And from here on, it is an epic story. * I call them, talk with them, check the forecast (no rain in the next 10 days). I agree that the leak is small, there is no rain in the forecast, and I can wait about a week for them to fix this - no problem. * Two weeks later - no call, no text, no email, no mail, no fix. But now the leak is bigger. I collected about 7 gallons of water before being able to redirect the flow to the toilet (the leak is in the bathroom) * It takes another two calls and escalation up to Charlie Ray (general manager) to get somebody for a fix next day * Meanwhile, a part of the drywall on the ceiling is soaked through and crumbles in my hands with zero effort * The next day a guy appears. inspects stuff inside and outside. Says, "I gotta do a temporary fix from the inside. In the next couple of days, the office will contact you for a permanent fix outside". What does he do? He patches the suspicious area with sealant, some tape, more sealant, and more tape. "That should do it for now. Here is my phone; call me if it leaks again" * Office does not call in the next day, two, three, a week. * I call again and get "your ticket got closed. The fixer guy closed it and said that the fix is done" * Meanwhile, it starts leaking again * another guy comes in, does a fix outside * The office schedules a drywall guy to fix the whole * Drywall guy patches the whole and says, "I'll be in next week to paint it" * Next week it leaks again. same place. patched drywall is soaked wet again (not to the point of collapse this time) * another round of dance with the office * another guy comes in, checks the roof outside, and without any word just drives off * I go to the office physically. Meet with Bob and Tony. Tony "will be fixing it for good tomorrow" * Next day, Tony and one other guy are here; they replace the pipe boot and a patch of shingles. Turns out the pipe boot was much bigger than it needed to be, "that's why it was leaking". But the new boot "will fix it for good." Worth mentioning that Tony was the original PM on installation. * About two weeks after that, the roof is leaking again in the same place. * Another round of me going to the office, meeting with Bob (who promises a fast fix with the best fixer guy they have "today or tomorrow"; and bunch of other stuff) * "Today" the best guy couldn't make it. * The next day, "the best guy" couldn't make it to me either, so they sent another "super fixer guy" from Rochester (I'm in Buffalo) * He fixed something and was so eager to run away that I basically needed to catch him * A week later, and I have not a peep about drywall. But fix (#4) holds (for now) 06/19/2026
