We purchased a 2010 Dodge Ram in January 2023. By the end of January 2023, the head gasket blew. We…read morehad made multiple attempts to contact corporate and the Monticello office to let them know there was something wrong with it before the head gasket blew. We got it in to get looked at and the mechanic said it was a thermostat, so they changed that and then told us it was good to drive. After figuring out it was the head that blew, Superior Auto was not going to help fix it. What they did was pay a little toward the bill and refinanced the loan to add the remainder of the bill to our loan. After waiting almost 3+ months (we still do not have it back), the prices went up. We have to pay an additional 300$ out of our pocket because Superior Auto wanted to refinance our loan AGAIN. In the mean time, we are still paying weekly payments on this truck that we only were able to drive for 29 days. We asked if there could be a freeze on payments, if we could have another car to drive until they fixed ours, etc. All of these answers were no. Then every time you call corporate to speak to someone, they hangup on you. Very unprofessional. I DO NOT recommend getting a vehicle from this place.

Molter Auto Sales - Driver's seat back. This also cracked open shortly after we got the car. It makes me wonder what else is wrong that we don't know about.

    Molter Auto Sales

Buyers, Beware! We purchased a 2011 Lexus from Molter…read moreAuto Sales in Monticello, Indiana on Dec. 15. We purchased it "as is," but the salesman told us there was nothing wrong with the car and that it had been the owner's wife's car for the past two years. (There was no sticker in the window that told the price, features, etc.) Before we got home, it was dark outside. That's when we found out the headlights don't work correctly. Apparently, the owner's wife never drove at night. We managed to get home. After a lot of snail's-pace phone tag (my husband calling the salesman; the salesman supposedly talking to the owner; the salesman eventually calling us back), Molter's salesman told us to take the car to a Lexus dealership to identify the problem. We found out the headlight carriage has broken parts. To fix it at Lexus will cost $2,900. We sent that estimate to Molter Auto Sales. In addition to the headlight problem, after we had driven the car three or four times (during the day, of course), the driver's seat cracked open. It and the front passenger seat have been "repaired" with a vinyl paste that doesn't work. We will be paying for new seat covers. It's our fault that we missed it. Being unfamiliar with nickel-and-dime attempts to fix seats, we missed that red flag. Another surprise: The advertisement for the car was 40,000 miles below the real mileage on the odometer. We questioned that when we looked at the car, and they said they had forgotten to change the ad from two years ago when they got the car. We should have walked away then, but we also missed that red flag. We repeatedly called Molter Auto Sales about the lights and got the runaround for 35 days. Our offer was for them to simply buy the car back or fix the lights. The owner was not professional enough to talk to us until we finally got a call through to him on Jan 26. We got the run around until January 30 (a month and a half after purchase and we still aren't driving the car) when they gave us a check that will not cover even half of the cost of getting the headlights working. The seat repairs will cost us another $650. I wish I had looked up this dealership on Yelp or the Better Business Bureau before we bought. These reviews consistently indicate that Molter Auto Sales is in the business of selling bad cars and not standing by their products. Our experience confirms this. For anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced used car, I recommend Mats International in Richmond, Indiana or Drive Link in New Castle. These are more than reputable businesses.

Purchased a vehicle from Molter about 2 months after my family moved here from California (Sept…read more 2018). Had check engine light turn on literally the day after we bought the car. Was assured by the sale person that Mr. Molter backs all of his sales "to a fault." Called and was given the run around for about a week. I was then informed that I could take to to a mechanic at the Molter Auto cost. They also agreed to fix the ABS light BEFORE I purchased it and was told afterward that it wasn't a big deal so they were just going to leave it. Since the purchase (it's now July 2019) the vehicle has spent just over 2 months actually on the road. The issues range from the entire exhaust system needing to be replaced to cam shaft issues to bad coils and plugs. We now have another $700 and a ton of DIY time invested and are ready to just give up and buy a car from a decent dealer. I DO NOT recommend Molter auto. They do not stand behind their sales, the saw associate was deceptive regarding both the vehicle itself and the integrity of the company, and the finance guy (Mike I believe) lacked any sort of concern about the sale beyond getting paid.
