We recently had our roof replaced by (Guy Roofing), a contractor recommended to us by our homeowner's insurance company (Amica)through (Crawford Contractor Connection). Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. While the actual roof replacement was completed, we were extremely disappointed with the, lack of attention to detail and care throughout the process. The crew left behind a significant amount of debris, which we had to clean up ourselves. There was visible damage to our front gutter over the garage, and they caused nail punctures in the flashing on the right side of the roof. To make matters worse, there was tar smeared on our home's siding from the roof tear-off process. One of the key issues was our dryer vent, which we needed them to repair as part of the project. Rather than doing the job correctly, they installed a cheap $10-20 vent that didn't even sit flush against the siding. Their solution? Clear silicone caulk around the edges, an unprofessional shortcut from a company that advertises itself as experts in roofing, siding, and gutters. This type of work should have been completed with care and precision the first time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We made multiple attempts to contact Guy Roofing to address these issues. Although they did eventually follow through and come back to correct the problems, it took repeated phone calls and persistence on our end.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Even then, the initial attempts to fix things felt like the bare minimum, and only after pushing did they finally complete the job to our satisfaction. The morning after Helene blasted through we noticed a small leak around the chimney in the basement. I called and spoke with the representative. She gave me an appointment that was acceptable. Justin Blake arrived at the exact time, reviewed the history of, thoroughly examined and video/picture documented our roof. He explained that we did not have a hurricane problem but needed just routine maintenance work. An appointment was scheduled and this morning the work crew arrived punctually and were done in the time frame quoted by Justin. I hired Guy Roofing for a full roof replacement in Simpsonville following hail damage through an insurance claim. What started as a professional experience during the sales phase quickly deteriorated once the contract was signed. Decking boards. During tear-off, the crew replaced what they claimed were 10 boards at $105 each -- $1,050 added with zero warning. I was working from home. No one knocked, no one called, no change order was presented. I found out after the fact. When I challenged this, I was told a change order wasn't necessary because the rate was on the front page. However, their own Clause 26 on page two specifically requires a signed change order for hidden conditions and lists "deteriorated decking" as the first example. You can't have a clause in your contract and tell customers it doesn't apply to the exact scenario it describes. The photo documentation I received was a disorganized set of images with blue numbers scrawled on in "no particular order" -- their words. No before-and-after photos, no dimensions tracked. Their staff admitted some of the 10 "boards" were partial cuts from full 4x8 sheets, and that crews bring bulk OSB and cut on site. So I was charged $105 per cut piece, not per actual sheet. After escalation to the director of production, they reduced the charge from 10 to 7 boards, saving $315. While $315 may not sound like much in the context of a full roof, that's precisely the point -- it's just small enough that most homeowners won't fight it, and just large enough to add up across hundreds of jobs. It speaks to a pattern of nickel-and-diming that erodes trust. Double-layer shingles. Their inspector and my insurance adjuster both documented a single-layer roof. I signed the contract on that basis. A second layer was discovered during tear-off with no change order or notification. I later received an invoice billing me directly for the extra removal -- entirely unacceptable for unauthorized work on a roof documented as single-layer. They eventually obtained partial payment from insurance, but it raised a serious question: had insurance denied the supplement, would I have been stuck paying for unauthorized work their own inspector failed to identify? Based on how this was handled, I believe the answer is yes. The cost of a potential second layer should be built into standard pricing given how common this is in the industry. Invoicing. I received four separate invoices with different balances. Nothing clearly reconciled against the insurance estimate. Every question required follow-up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Resolution. After escalation, management was responsive and we reached a fair resolution. But it took multiple emails, phone calls across several departments, and days of effort -- just to be treated fairly under their own contract terms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff argued positions that directly contradicted Clause 26 using the exact example listed in the clause. Either their staff isn't trained on their own contract, or the contract misleads consumers. Neither is acceptable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What went well: The sales experience was excellent -- I felt heard and respected. The salesman advocated well with my insurance adjuster.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The roof looks great and was completed in one day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once I reached management, they worked with me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Advice: Read the entire contract, especially Clauses 5, 26, and 27. Be home on install day. Lots to say on this company and none of it is good. Happy to share pictures and discuss the experience if somebody wants to know more before getting involved with them. Their quote was high to do some higher end gutter and trim work. Some of their quote we just disregarded immediately like when they asked for $2000 per 12 inch post cap, which I ended up getting done for $150 each somewhere else. But we did hire them to do some work in order to get it done on schedule, but that was a huge mistake. All of their work was sloppy and unprofessional. They repeatedly lied about their decision-making where GUTTERS were crooked, incorrectly installed, and inappropriate and cheap materials were used. In the end, we were promised that it could be fixed, but after a couple months of it is obvious that the repairs would be so extensive that the job would basically have to be redone, they walked away from the job and then filed an illegal mechanics lien against me despite having acknowledged all the problems beforehand. Not a problem because I will win this one in court without an issue, but, it's been a huge headache, and they are Dishonest in their dealings, unprofessional, and the work they did for me was less than amateurish. Guy Roofing replaced our roof in Aug 2020 after a hailstorm, and we hadn't noticed any issues until Apr 2024 when we saw water stains on the ceiling of our upstairs bathroom. Their sales rep came over and checked it out, then quoted us $3800 for a premium "roof tune up", which would replace 3 rubber pipe boots with perma boots as well as installing ice/rain shielding. Unfortunately they only offer a 2-year warranty so we weren't getting any price breaks at this point, but based on other professional opinions, we were getting ripped off. Eventually we reached out to another company (Roofers LLC in Greenville) and not only did they identify the issue, but they took it upon themselves to fix it AT NO CHARGE. Besides sealing the existing pipe boots properly and taking care of some nail pops, they also found an old bottle of sealant that was stuck in our gutter, which is something Guy Roofing clearly dropped back in 2020 when the roof was installed, and missed again when the sales rep came over to check the roof 4 years later. On top of that, Roofers LLC noticed our drip edges weren't installed properly by Guy Roofing, which is causing our shingles to warp near the gutters. Since their warranty only covers 2 years, I won't even bother asking about them about this. Guy Roofing may have other companies beat when it comes to brand recognition, but after this whole experience, it felt like my ignorance was being exploited for profit AND the quality of their original work was sub-par, so I'll never contact them again. read more

The salesperson who came out was nice and responsive. I don't have any complaints about him personally. However, his entire pitch was about how Guy Roofing charges more because they have great service, never have any BBB complaints, all of their contractors go through mandatory training hours, etc. He said they charge a premium because (they claim) they have a premium service. I had responsiveness issues from other roofers and I needed the job done quickly, so I was fine paying a premium if I was going to get a premium service. I hired Guy Roofing for $1900 when other companies quoted around $1100. When the 2 guys came out to do the repair, they were nice enough, but they smoked cigarettes the entire time they did the job, so I had to keep my windows closed to keep the smoke out of my house. That would have been bad enough if they actually fixed the leak I hired them to. But next time it rained, I walked into my laundry room and the leak was WORSE than it was before I hired Guy Roofing. Obviously frustrated, I emailed the sales rep, who told their office and had another person come out and fix the original crew's work (i.e. actually do the job I paid them to do). Unfortunately, the continued leak after Guy Roofing's shoddy repair caused damage to my ceiling that wasn't there before I hired them. There was a very minor stain before I hired them, but the continued leak after their 'repair' caused my ceiling to warp and ripple. I told the rep, who assured me in writing that Guy Roofing would take responsibility and repair the damage to my ceiling. When I called in to have this work scheduled, the woman on the phone also assured me they'd have it taken care of. However, right after that call a person who I gather is some kind of manager, called me back and told me that Guy Roofing would NOT take care of the damage that was caused by their shoddy work (which, again, I paid a premium for). He said the damage to my ceiling was pre-existing, even though his own employees took photos directly disproving that claim. After arguing with him for some time, he said he'd have to 'talk to management' to see what they could do. After this call, I again emailed the original sales rep, who insisted that Guy Roofing would repair the ceiling damage, both the paint and warping. The manager then called me again and reversed course, saying that they would take care of the damage. When the interior contractor came out to repair the ceiling, he showed me a text FROM THE SAME MANAGER saying not to take care of the whole ceiling, just to touch up the paint where there was staining, directly contradicting what he told me they'd do. I let him just touch up the paint, but I did follow up with the manager, who said that they couldn't repair the whole ceiling in that room because they didn't realize it was plywood and the contractor only deals with sheetrock. This was a lie, because he had texted the contractor not to repair the ceiling before he even got to my home. After expressing my frustration again to this manager, he offered to refund me $300 to put the matter to rest. At this point I was sick of dealing with Guy Roofing, so I verbally accepted. HOWEVER, I then received an agreement to sign in order to receive this refund, which had a NDA and non-disparagement clause, saying that if I signed (which I did not), I would not write any negative reviews about Guy Roofing online. They were trying to buy my silence by refunding me a fraction of the cost of the ceiling repair I now need because of their shoddy work. Our roof was replaced by Guy Roofing in 2018 due to hail damage. After six years, we had a severe storm and water was dripping on the inside of the fireplace in our living room. Went up in the attic and noticed the roof had other areas that had been leaking over time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We called Guy Roofing to come out to look at the leaks on the inside. The representative took pictures of the roof on top of the house to show us that the roof shingles are OK that it was not causing the leak.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After two years, it was out of warranty and Guy Roofing did not see a problem from the workmanship that had caused the leak. Guy Roofing representative basically told us that the workmanship was good. And if we wanted it fixed that we would have to pay all of it out of our own pocket. USE MY EXPERIENCE AS A LESSON, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR REPAIRS My wife and I used Guy Roofing in the past, but using them for a repair following Hurricane Helene has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. At this point we had already given them a down-payment (our biggest mistake) and we were stuck with them. The only silver lining here was that Guy Roofing did allow us to downgrade the service agreement to make it a little cheaper knowing that insurance was probably not going to pay out the claim. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I question why they cannot itemize their estimate because surely they know how much some shingles costs and they know how much their workers are paid, and they know how long the job takes - why couldn't they support a returning customer with an insurance claim?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have my suspicions as to why they would refuse... This is why I say DO NOT WORK WITH THEM if you plan on going through insurance. As a result of this terrible experience, the insurance company could deny funds because they did not have an itemized estimate/invoice and Guy Roofing got paid per their contract. They did my roof shingles a few years back. Decent job, very quick. Upon my inspection, going inside the attic, I noticed Missing chunks of wood where you can see the under lay water barrier in a couple minor spots. And the nails. Wasn't detrimental and an error can happen. No business is perfect. Fast forward to Helene. Some damage, I was lucky, but need minor repairs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After about 4 months, no return calls, no resolution, they are unreliable, uncooperative[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They quote a "blank check" flat rate, no data on what is found or what is being repaired. And request copies of "other" estimate I have? This is like your car is running rough, take to garage, they say $2000 and we will fix your car, not saying what they will or what they'll fix. So NO. Worse experience ever! I had a leak in my ceiling from all the storms and requested their help on June 14th. Instead I got an incompetent rep. He told me my roof was fine but never went in the attic to inspect. I was advised this seemed to be a plumbing issue and recommended I hire a plumber. Thank God I did. He was the one that found the hole in my roof and took pictures showing the issue. Workers laying in the grass because they did not have enough materials, cigarette buds left behind along with their food trash... The billing practices of this company are deceitful. As a preferred roofer for Nationwide Insurance, they knew the disbursement amount but still performed additional work that wasn't included. Guy Roofing replaced my roof a few years ago and did a horrible job! I had a leak that I did not have before the replacement. Work was poorly done and they left a mess in my yard. Nails were everywhere! After many complaints and return visits they got the roof leak stopped. I had trouble with the poor workmanship the whole time the roof was on. I had to replace the roof long before I should have. For all those positive reviews, count your blessings as you lucked up but keep an eye out on the roof in the years to come! I used Leon Easler for this last roof and they did a beautiful job with no issues. They completely cleaned up after themselves and the roof was not longer "lumpy". TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!! I wish negative 5 stars was an option on the rating system. Let me start by saying, I read the reviews of Guy Roofing and was not at all impressed, but I called all the roofing companies in the area with good reviews to get a quote and none of them got back to me. Seems pretty backward, I was shocked. We just bought the house and the inspection revealed roof work was needed, so we were on a timeline to have it done quickly. I gave up and settled for Guy Roofing, and that was an awful decision. The company offered absolutely no timeframe of when they would show up, so we asked them to at least call when they were on the way. They didn't. The roofer showed up and went straight up to the roof, never knocked on the door, identified himself or anything. He was up there for quite a while before we even knew. The roofer had no company identification on his truck, trailer, or clothing. He didn't speak English, so couldn't understand to show us identification. While I called the Guy Roofing office to get an explanation, the roofer left without saying anything. From what we could see the shingles looked like crap. We spoke to the same sales rep, Jonathan, from the beginning of this process, as he said to call him with any problems, and we explained how the roofer couldn't identify himself and did a bad job. The sales rep scheduled to come back out, after we insisted, and investigate the work and speak to us about the situation. He stated that he agreed the work was not right and that the roofer was a subcontractor. He stated that the subcontractor was no longer working for Guy Roofing and had been fired. He said that Guy Roofing stood behind their work and would have somebody else come back out to make it right, and since it was their mistake it would be done quickly. Fast forward several days, and the same "fired" subcontractor was at my house again. Again, no identification on truck, trailer, or anything. He showed up before 7am with no notice. Again he did not make his presence know or identify himself. He proceeded to go straight back on the roof. I went and told him to get off my roof and off my property. Funny enough, he understood that. I called Guy Roofing immediately, and their offices weren't even open. I tried to use the automated prompt for "if it's an emergency, push 3" and was sent to voice-mail. Tried again, same thing. Apparently, they care nothing about your emergency, they care nothing about safety, and care nothing about the customer service or quality of work they provide. I called the office over and over again until they finally answered. They had nothing but excuses for the situation. I spoke to both the operation manager, Derrick, in charge of the subcontracted roofer and the sales manager, Brad, in charge of the sales rep, Jonathan. I asked them to make the situation right and that there better be a qualified English speaking manager on site at all times and to explain why a "fired" worker was at my house at the crack of dawn with no notice. We were prepared to call the cops and a lawyer if this horrible situation persisted. Brad had nothing but excuses saying Jonathan would not be aware of another workers status, so he shouldn't have said he was fired, but he was probably just trying to reassure us that they took the situation seriously. That's bs. Jonathan straight up lied to us and made the situation exponentially worse. Brad's only other comment to us was that he hadn't been there as long as Derrick, the operations manager, but he was sure Derrick would handle the situation. Terrible management!!! Derrick made excuses for his subcontracted roofer saying he is good at his job but isn't expected to be good at customer facing. He said the worker had been with the company for years and was good at his job, and was not fired. I demanded Derrick himself meet us, fix the work, and be available to explain every step of it. Finishing the roof and doing it correctly was the least Guy Roofing could do at this point. He came out, gave us more excuses l, and only took 5% off the bill. Are you kidding me! They should have done far more to make right all the chaos, unprofessional nonsense, and barely legal practices. Horrible business practices!!!!! Complete crooks replaced a few shingles and charged me 3 times the actual cost. The invoice was heavily padded with over $500 in labor for a 30-minute job. They split the job into 2 appointments so they could charge double for labor even though it was a tiny repair. They changed me labor for 4 guys with one doing the work and the other 3 standing there. I have the video. I was also charged $168 to toss about 8 feet of gutter. They also failed to show up on 2 different appointments without notice which ended up costing me two full days' pay. I called to discuss the issues and Sylvia was incredibly rude and threatened legal action if I didn't pay immediately. Do yourself a favor and find another roofer. I'll is contacting my insurance to let them know not to recommend or deal with this company again. read more

I contacted Guy Roofing to repair two minor spots on our Roof that had some storm damage. The salesperson who came to give the estimate was very thorough. He took and showed me photos of the damaged areas and had a slick powerpoint presentation that explained all about how their service worked, how they train all their employees at their facility, and how they don't just "pick up workers from a parking lot" to do the work. I was assured that a specifically named manager would be also onsite on the day of the repair work to oversee the work being done. The day came and three non-English speaking workers showed up at my house. They finished their work and departed. There was no on-site manager present during the entire repair visit. There were no photos provided with the final invoice to confirm that the work done to the areas not visible from the ground had been completed. I did ask and the photos were provided, but only after I had asked, and then not of all the areas that were repaired. The reason I'm writing this review is because a week after I paid my final invoice payment, I received a text message from the company telling me that my final payment was overdue and that I should click the provided link to pay it now. When I called the company, they confirmed that my payment had been applied and that I was paid in full. Still, I received the "Overdue Payment" text message. The promises that were made and not kept were: 1) None of the workers doing the work spoke English 2) NO onsite manager, neither the one named, nor any other was ever onsite 3) The company's bookkeeping system doesn't properly record payments made. I'm assuming the work was all done as explained, but I am left to take some of it on faith. read more

Guy Roofing is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Guy Roofing overcharged me by $10,777. They did not stand behind their employees verbal quote. I had excellent credit prior to interacting with Guy Roofing. My credit score was mid 700s to low 800s. I own a rental single family house in Columbia SC. I bought it brand new (new construction) in 1999. The original roof was still on the house. I got three or more bids and selected the lowest bid. Lowes the Home Improvement store was quoting something like $12K to replace my roof with the same or similar material that Guy Roofing used. Guy Roofing salesman quoted $8,299 to replace the roof and this included my $1K deductible. Nation Wide my Insurance company at the time recommended Guy Roofing. So, I went with the lowest bid and felt good because this is the company the insurance company has a good relationship with. It turns out the young many sold me the roof for the amount that was being financed. It was a couple of weeks after my roof was replaced that I received an invoice for $19,075.76. During the many conversations, the sales manger told me the young man that sold me the new roof for the finance charges no longer works for the company. Most of the people I talked with at Guy Roofing were decent people. I tried to find lawyers to help me out but they said I signed a contract and there was no help for me. Also, they implied you are going to run up a legal bill that will amount to the overcharge and the chances of us winning anything are extremely small. So Guy Roofing filed a mechanics lien on my property. I was adamant that I was not going to let them charge me an extra $10K. I had to cave in because I need to maintain good credit. Their contract was not clear to me. Also, they mentioned that their billing system does not provide all costs until after the project is finished. A lot of red flags with this company. I hope my situation gets to Senator Elizabeth Warren. She is passionate about consumers being treated fairly. I think this company is dishonest and uses deceptive business practices. read more

Contacted Guy Roofing about an issue on the roof of my screened in porch, shingles were buckling - the roof on this porch is about 20 x 16 ft. They suggested I replace the whole roof on the porch and quoted me $7,000 - yes that's $7,000. My mother had a leaking roof, spot in the house, was not that bad, but she calls to have a quote done, gets one from Guy Roofing, oh all you should have to pay is your deductible once we are finished. NOW, Where do I start, my Mother, a cancer patient, elderly, and on a fixed income. After they have finished my mother gets the bill, as they were going through her homeowners insurance because of hail damage, in most cases the insurance money goes directly to the company, not the homeowner. Now, unfortunately, my Mother passed away after it was done and Guy Roofing says they want more money that the adjuster sent the money. I have to tell them, my Mother passed away, not to text her phone anymore, please call me or email me because, well, she just passed away and there is nothing I can do until everything is settled. NOT ONLY DID THEY GO UP ON THEIR PRICE, WHERE MY MOTHER WOULD HAVE PAID 2000 OVER THEIR QUOTE, instead of contacting me directly or letting me get in touch with her insurance, IF THEY WOULD TALK TO ME, they file legal fees on top of going up on price. I told them she passed and they didn't act like they believed me, NOW, on top of losing my mother a month ago, I have to deal with a crooked company who lies to their customers, especially, the elderly and sick. We are a military family living overseas when we had roof damage from a hurricane. The roof was replaced by Guy Roofing in Feb 2019. We are currently selling our home and the inspector found 2 shingles that slipped and were not installed properly. When I called to inquire about fixing the workmanship I was told the warranty had expired (in February, btw) and they do not work in our area anymore anyway. That this work was done under the 'old system, whatever that may mean. To say I am frustrated is an understatement. How were we going to inspect workmanship on a 2 story roof from Europe? Two slipped shingles. Guy Roofing certainly did not hesitate to come out and benefit off of the damage the hurricane left behind, but will not work this area to fix what they did not install correctly. We are very disappointed. The VA will not approve a loan without this fix and I am now going to have to pay someone else to fix what seems to have been improperly installed with zero help from 'upper management.' This could have been such an easy fix for your company. Zero help. I wonder if you will not fix the easy stuff, how hard do you fight the big stuff? Also, perhaps if you are not willing to service the area you sold to, maybe you should not service that area to begin with. My husband and I used Guy roofing to fix a leak in our attic that was clearly coming from an air pipe (don't know the proper name) on the roof. I was catching buckets of water when it rained. Our handyman had never used Guy roofing before, but had seen there truck around town. A young man from Guy roofing came out and went on the roof. Later sat down with us and showed us pictures. He said that all we needed was some caulking around that pipe, and for $4000, his guys would get up there and fix any , holes, shingles, etc. that the roof might need. Well, instead of getting a second opinion, and we were so tired of the leak and water damage to our ceiling - WE HIRED THEM FOR $4000!!!!!! They did the job. The young man said that he would come back after the job was completed to make sure everything looked good. NEVER CAME BACK! Guy roofing sign still in my front yard. Fasting forward- there is a 100 percent chance of rain in the forcast. Glad I left the attic bucket in place. Rain is pouring in again in the same spot. Called Guy roofing. He goes up on roof, and now he's telling us it's an HVAC problem. It's not Guy's problem. We called our HVAC company. They said that it was definitely a roofing problem. Called Guy roofing again. No one has shown up. I wrote all of this to say to please be cautious when hiring anyone. Even if it's a reputable company. Do your research, and get a second or third opinion !!! Individual used a drone which has limited capabilities. Guy Roofing rep said they would follow up with an estimate but never did. read more

Used Guy Roofing to repair a leak on my roof. Guy came out talked about how great they were and how all the other roofing companies were scammers. Used them for the job they replaced a bunch of things that didn't need to be replaced. Didn't match the singles at all! During the job they dropped a hammer down my chimney, left a bunch of nails on the ground, didn't nail a few shingles down properly had to come back out to fix. After all that they didn't fix the leak all the stuff they did was unnecessary. Had another company come out figured it out in about twenty minutes fixed the problem for half of what I paid Guy. read more

The roofing contractor we had seemed to have no idea what he was talking about and went up on the roof drew a couple circles with some chalk then gave me their sales pitch and show you how the company is there for the community and partners with the sports teams etc. The contractor then said they'd be there 'every step of the way' (WHICH WAS ALSO A LIE). Then they try to get you to sign a contract guaranteeing that they do the work and you have 3 days from signing to cancel if you're within that 3 day mark cancel ASAP. The roofing contractor never even met with the adjuster, nor respond to calls or text messages. Then quoted us almost double what another roofing contractor quoted us. read more

We never heard back after a nice guy came to our house saying he was working on a neighbor's house and assessed our roof. We called about 4 times and it's been more than a month with no reply! He even left a sign in our front yard advertising, but never returned. Very strange circumstance, still wondering how to return the sign! read more

Be careful dealing with Guy roofing INC. Their sales rep (Jarrin Pettit) promised they would fix my deceased mothers roof for "whatever the insurance pays" and we would have a small check left over. We wondered why he would not give us a straight estimate. Now they say we owe them almost 700 over what the insurance paid. Be careful if you deal with them. He preyed on our grief. And when he goes over the paperwork on his tablet, make him slow down and explain. I was simply told to sign here. We were also told it would be finished in 1 day and it took 5. The workers put trash in our cans that we had to bag up since the trash men will take nothing that's not in bags. I'll be choosing someone else to do my personal home. read more

I was surprised because I paid (to a different company) $2,700 for a complete new roof 8 years ago. Called another company who came the next day, and repaired on the spot for $250. I had a roof leak and called Guy Roofing Inc. A sales rep came and said the roof looked great and repairs could be made to a window that was leaking and a spot leaking on top of the house. I received a quote of $6199 and signed a contract to have the work done. The sales rep assured me that Guy Roofing Inc. guarantees their work and if the area continued to leak they would come and fix it at no charge. A crew came to make the repairs and did not speak to me about the job, but a crew member did tell the man who came to fix my ceilings that the roof needed replaced and he didn't understand why they were wasting time repairing the leaks. I called the company and told them what was said and asked if I actually needed a new roof. I was told no, the sales rep who did my assessment was correct, and only the repairs were needed. I also told them that the window repair looked bad: there were deep marks from the ladder on the fascia as well as tar dripping down it. A piece of railing had been removed and reattached, the sites of reattachment look bad, they are not the same color as the siding, there are large areas of paint stripped off the railing, and there were green screws in the black rubber used for repair. A supervisor came and inspected the roof and window, agreed that the window looked bad and said he would send someone to fix it. He also said my roof was in good shape, not in need of replacement. The roof began leaking again so I called them to come and fix their "guaranteed" repair. A crew came and worked on the area. Another crew came and replaced the damaged fascia, but nothing further was done to the window. It still looks bad, and the rubber used for reseating is not even attached to the house. I spoke with a crew member and he told me, again, that the roof was not in need of replacement and that he "resealed the plumbing boot" and this was where the problem was. Twice more the leak occurred when raining, twice more I called them for service. The 2nd time, a quality inspector came out and told me the roof looked bad, it needed complete replacement. At this point, 3 crews, the sales rep, and a supervisor had all stated that the roof did not need replacement which was obviously untrue. The sales rep came back to give me an estimate on the replacement. The estimate was $14199. She told me that the $6199 I had paid would be applied to this balance, and that if I chose not to use Guy Roofing Inc. that the money would be refunded. She even told me to cancel the automatic payments that I had set up with the finance company as I would not need them if Guy Roofing Inc. did not do the replacement. I signed a contract for the replacement. Days later, she texted and told me that the owner's wife was now saying I would have to pay an additional $3000 out of pocket for "ice and water underlayment" or they would not warranty the roof, which was already listed in the contract. I asked why this was not already included in the estimate and was told that I didn't qualify for financing for that amount and that it was left off so that I would qualify. We could not pay this extra amount, so they refused to honor the signed contract. I began receiving statements from the finance company so I messaged the sales rep to see when I should expect the refund. She informed me that the owner's wife denied the refund. I sent an email to Guy Roofing Inc. detailing all of this, and got no response. I filed a complaint with the NC AG office with all of these details. I received a response, which included Guy Roofing Inc.'s outright lies about the situation. The decision stated that, since there was a dispute of facts, I would have to take the case to small claims court. The letter from Guy Roofing Inc. stated that they initially told me my roof needed repair and I refused and asked for repair only (not true). The letter stated that the leak was in a different area than the area they repaired (not true). I hope this helps someone deciding who to use for roof repair. I plan to pursue some action and to get this out in as many places as I can. read more
