Dr. Neal referred me to Dr. McConnell (who it turned out is his wife), who specializes in treating double vision. She prescribed lenses with prisms. Unfortunately, the glasses didn't correct the problem as she had measured incorrectly. She ordered a second pair. When I used the glasses for distant vision, I found I still had double vision. I then went back to the physician who had done my cataract surgery. Shockingly, he said the glasses I had gotten did not have any prisms. Today, I returned with my husband to Dr. McConnell for an explanation. She maintained the glasses did in fact have prisms and suggested most opticians and even doctors can't tell if glasses have prisms but she, of course, could. I expressed my displeasure and distrust as she seemed to be more concerned about defending herself than about my poor treatment outcome. She offered to refund my money and refer me to someone else and rushed out of the examining room. Subsequently, an assistant led us to the front desk and said she would give us a refund of $270. My husband said we would accept the refund but wanted to keep the glasses as we were skeptical about the explanation about the glasses having prisms when my doctor said they didn't have prisms. While the assistant went to get direction, my husband retrieved the glasses. The assistant returned and demanded we give up the glasses. My husband told her we were keeping the glasses and it was their choice whether or not to give us the refund. What ensued was some loud back and forth about us wanting to keep the glasses. Dr. Neal joined this and did nothing to resolve the matter and adamantly requested we give up the glasses and suggested we wanted to get the glasses for free. So we went back and forth some more. When asked why he wanted the glasses more than he wanted to provide good customer service, he said they would send them back to the company for a refund. That seemed ridiculous since it suggested the glasses were in fact defective. As we were leaving my husband pointed out the office was not ADA compliant since there is a step up but no ramp. They yelled back that they have a ramp. Dr. Neal came over and held up a suitcase-like folded up ramp. In the numerous times I came to the office, struggling with my walker, never once did anyone offer the use of the ramp. Dr. Neal's retort was 'you never asked.' That sums up the poor quality of my treatment.

That overpriced guy's exam took over an hour (both times) and his lenses were dirty and he tried to tell me it was my fault after getting the prescription wrong two times. I went to see Dr Lu in the Warminster Costco and was immediately aware I was dealing with someone who does this day in and day out. She has the expensive machine that does a lot of the refracting using a computer and she does the rest manually, but it was done in about 15 minutes and BINGO, got it 100% right the first time. Best $89 I've spent in years. I bought affordable glasses at the Costco glasses shop last time, but this time just got new lenses and will get another complete frame and lens elsewhere since they didn't have something I love this time. Dr Lu was friendly and efficient and everything was sterile and safe and I can't rave enough about what an easy, professional experinece it was. I will never go to an outside optometrist again. While her optometry practice is located inside the Costco, she is independent and operates her own practice out of their space. I don't have vision insurance, but she accepts many plans. I can't say enough positive things about the staff at Visual Eyes. From the moment I approached the outside glass office door I was greeted by Lindsay with a big smile. I knew then that this was going to be a very positive experience. The rest of the staff was incredibly friendly, approachable, patient, and readily available to answer my questions. They made me feel welcomed and valued as a customer and a person and this is now my go-to store for all my vision issues. Blessie, who does the preliminary exam, took her time to explain the process and what was going to happen using the new technology, Dr. Small who was incredibly kind and patient, provided the best and by far the most thorough eye examination I've ever had and I'm pushing 80 and last but certainly not least there is the very patient Tim who helped me pick out two pair of glasses based on my color and financial preference from their fantastic selection of eyewear. I was never rushed nor was I pressured to buy anything. Actually, I was going to purchase three pair but Tim didn't think the third pair was needed and in hindsight he is correct. The girl told me to wait and put them on the next day since I had been wearing my other glasses. I ignored that advice and put them on when I got home. After 4 hours of torture, I took them off. The next morning I tried again. I wore them for several hours, but had to change to my old prescription when I drove as the double vision made it unsafe. I called and was told to wear them for at least a week. I tried to explain how bad it was and that it was dangerous, but the sweet girl just kept saying, "I understand," and not inviting me to come in. After a couple more hours of hell, I looked closely at the lenses of my old vs new glasses and there was a definite difference. I called back, got another girl who this time gave me an appointment. When I arrived I got the same girl who helped me the previous day. She is the reason I am writing this review. Unfortunately, she never said her name. When I explained that I was having a serious problem seeing out of the glasses, her attitude became rude and dismissive. She said, "Weren't you just here yesterday?" in and angry tone. I explained how bad it was and tried to show her the difference in the lenses. I said, " There should be a prism in the lenses." She snapped at me, There IS a prism in them!" I held my ground while she searched her computer for what I do not know. She seemed intent on proving me wrong. I asked if there was a machine she could use to check the prescription and see if the prism was correct. She finally went back to look. Fortunately Glenn appeared at that point (if you go there, insist on having him help you with your glasses) after a while, she came back and told me Glenn said they were sending the glasses back to the lab. I asked if they had the prism in them and she replied (I kid you not!), "I don't know. I don't know how to check." The story has a happy ending. The glasses came back with obviously different lenses and I could instantly see out of them. I wore them driving home. But the way I was dismissed and disrespected has shaken my faith in this practice. I have had more glasses than years that girl has been alive. Eye glasses serve one purpose - to help you SEE. Brushing off a patient and telling them to wear glasses for "at least a week," is dangerous!

When I called him out on this behavior, he couldn't even look me in the eye or apologize. It was the most immature interaction I've ever had in a medical office. On top of that, the office appears to overcharge, and getting in contact with anyone is extremely difficult. Calls often go unanswered, and resolving billing or scheduling questions becomes unnecessarily frustrating. A healthcare office should treat patients with professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, despite the doctor's clear expertise, the front office experience makes it difficult for me to recommend this practice.
