Had our son's first birthday party here and it was a wonderful time! Decor was great, it was clean, plenty of friendly, organized staff to help out... no complaints! They were very straight-forward and honest about pricing/what was included etc., no surprise fees in fact I think they perhaps were a bit lenient and didn't charge us for a few things they _could_ have which was very much appreciated. As other reviews have mentioned, the bounce house was a big hit with the older kids although the younger ones had smaller toys and things/activities to do as well. Also, again, the staff was great and kept things running smoothly. Literally had a birthday for my 2 year old today the 21st of january 2017, and it was great. When you call and set up your party, you speak directly to the owner Tina. Their is no middle man, so all coordination for the party goes direct to owner to consumer and vice versa. I am smacking myself for not asking the name of one of her helpers the one who was in charge of the activites. She was phenomenal and made sure the birthday girl felt special on her day, while still making sure the other kids got attention. Tina if you are reading this, please tell the helper she was great and helped make our day special. The kids all loved the bouncy house, face painting and music. I hosted my son's first birthday at Gym-Azing this past weekend and cannot recommend them enough! Face painting, bounce house, freeze dance, limbo, basketball, sit and spin, balloon making, bubble machine....our little guests had a wonderful time and I heard several parents remarking on what a gem this place is! Also the DECOR is so festive and included in the package price....it truly felt like a birthday celebration and not a gym- they did a great job of transforming the space. Not only were the activities wonderful, well timed and engaging but the lovely hostesses were energetic, smiling and just great to work with. I had absolutely NOTHING to worry about! The owner, Tina, is also a lovely person to work with and I am so happy to support her business. I am a fan of small business because of the personal touch the proprietors often have and Tina is a great example of this. She communicated and answered all my questions and ensured I was comfortable with the flow of the day. I can't think of anything negative to say other than I wish I had ordered more food!!! The parents were enjoying themselves so much (since the girls did such a great job of keeping the kids entertained) that they helped themselves to the catered lunch and managed to relax (as much as you can with small children in tow anyway)! I just had my son's 2nd birthday there and both the owner and the girls that led the activities couldn't have been more helpful and nice! The space is beautiful and spacious. They have only one party at a time which is perfect for what I was looking for. Though out the whole process, Tina and her helpers were amazing. You get a lot of bang for your buck and they pretty much set up up everything for you with decorations, guide the activities, keep an eye on the kids and then helped with the cake cutting. My friend had her baby's 1st birthday at this really nice childrens yoga studio in Astoria. The staff were so nice and helpful. The facility is clean, and while a bit small, it was perfect for the 8 or so kids and 20 adults in attendance. All the kids had a great time, whether bouncing in the small blow up castle, playing with the parachute or just dancing and singing to the music. After a couple hours of playing, we went down to the party room for pizza, soda, coffee, and cake. The party room is decorated pretty whimsically with balloons and butterflies. Although I haven't been to any other 1st birthday parties, I'd definitely recommend it for a fun birthday experience. I'm sure it would work better for older kids (in the age 3-10 range). The kids who attended the party in that age range had a great time. The babies had fun, but were definitely over stimulated and tired after a bit. My two year old daughter and I absolutely love the Messy Art class at Gym-Azing with the teacher, Ms. Melissa! My daughter enjoys painting and exploring with various paint colors and materials. She's learning how to use a paintbrush but she especially loves using her hands to paint! The class always starts with an interactive read aloud where Ms. Melissa encourages all the children to participate. She creatively finds ways to tie in the books to the art activities. This place is a GEM in Astoria! Having been to a few kid's gyms and dance locations in the area, Gymmazing is one of my favorites. Imagine about a dozen parents in a state of panic because a child seems to be missing. And imagine me, the lawyer insisting rather adamantly, to call the cops immediately! This was the scene after a kid's birthday party whereas just minutes ago, everyone was in high spirits from the games and the food. :) Thankfully, Tina, the owner, was as cool as a cucumber. She directed everyone's attention to the monitor and declared that they have cameras everywhere and they will immediately know where the kid was and who she left with. Indeed, every movement of the child was captured on camera and pretty soon we saw that she left with another parent. Eventually, my friend got hold of the child's mom who informed her that the child was safely home with her. I bit my lip as I stifled the words: "Well, why didn't you tell my friend that someone else is taking her home so you could have prevented a monumental nervous breakdown?!!" Moving on, I am a fan of this place not just because first, the cameras all over the place assures transparency and effective monitoring of the child's presence, second, the teachers are positive and energetic, third, the flow and cleanup after the party is efficient, fourth, the games and dances were fun and appropriate but most importantly, because Tina runs a tight ship. Nothing escapes her attention and that absolutely bodes well for the safety of the children. This is of utmost importance because Gym-azing is not just a birthday party venue but actually holds classes for kids. In fact, I was here during a kids' capoeira class and I've seen how the class size is kept small and efficient, the teachers actually monitor the correct posture of the kids and that the kids evidently have fun during class. Is the kid being bullied in school? Bring the child to a capoeira class to build the confidence and strength to confront those bullies! Going back to the birthday party, the ample space was utilized for kiddie games and dances, including the adults. Yes, I don't pass up any opportunity to dance, even at a kid's birthday party. :) After the games, everyone adjourned downstairs for the birthday meal, consisting of salads, fruit and pizza. I have to say with today's digital age...usually at family functions...the kids go into their corners and play nintendo ds...HOWEVER at gym-azing...all these digitally-inclined kids ran to play, to jump, to get balloons, to get their face's painted...you name it....they LOVED it! I cannot stress how great the staff was...each one with a consistent smile on their face! I highly recommend gym-azing for birthday parties...if you live in Astoria...why would you try any other play gym...and the price was reasonable...the only reason why they didn't get 5 stars is because I wish it was bigger...but that's inconsequential! fingers crossed that they do so well financially that a bigger space becomes possible one day... read more

We recently signed up our two daughters (21 months and 4 years old) for Messy Art and Storytime with Ms. Melissa, and they are having a blast! The first part, where Ms. Melissa reads a story, is really interactive and she makes sure all the kids get involved. The art projects are great and both my kids love to get super messy. My twin toddlers attend the weekend art class here and i cannot stress how it is a NONSTOP show for the entire 45 minutes. The teachers are amazing singers who easily command attention (and get it) from a group of about 15 little ones - which is no easy feat! Some songs become ritual, (meaning you always sing the same hello & goodbye songs) which helps them learn the songs and feels comforting to hear a song they know. The 45 minute class is filled with singing, dancing, bubbles, drum playing, and art. We've attended a couple of classes so far, and each class has introduced a different form of art to the kids. Crayons, water-paints, clay, and last class they were given a much thicker paint (don't know what its called) and some paint brushes - which every kids squealed with delight! in case you are wondering, they are given little smocks (similar to a mini plastic cooking apron) and after art portion, the kids get a chance to clean up their little hands (and sometimes feet) at a warm water bucket. My boys take 4-5 classes a week at different locations and I have to say, that while this class is a bit out of the way for us, it is definitely their favorite! Oh - one last thing to mention. The class after ours is some kind of brazilian capoeira class for kids that look to be about 8-10 yrs old (my best guess). Anywho... i don't know how long they've been taking these classes for, but they are AMAZING to watch!! It speaks volumes about the kind of instruction that is given here. I had my daughter's birthday party here this last weekend and I must say that I am truly content with the service that Tina, & her daughter provided! They had the place sanitized, well decorated, inviting and complete for all the kids before their arrival! I felt comfortable having my daughter and all her friends in such a clean and safe environment. At no time did I feel uneasy about the safety of the children. All the kids were supervised & engaged with at all times.They made these kids day! Doing a ton of activities including, but not limited to face painting, bubbles, slides, bouncy castle, & dancing. All the kids had such fun, they didn't want to leave! My daughter wants to go again! I would suggest a bigger eating area since it did feel crowed, & became a bit heated with the kids & parents all at once in that area; this is no issue though compared to all the other pros. Maybe later this can be taken into consideration. The party package included everything for the kids, so if you are a parent not looking to be stressed out managing the kids, their food, & decorations all at once, please leave it in Tina's hands & she will make your day complete with everyone leaving with a smile! The gym is always spotless, air conditioned, and very comfortable.(never ever smells like some gyms) My son has been taking Capoiera there for about 8 months now and has changed dramatically. In addition to learning Capoiera, he is learning some Portuguese, playing instruments all while he is having fun. He can not wait until his next class. My 18 month old daughter loves the music and is practicing Capoira at home with my son and can not wait till she is old enough to take the class. We also attended a 5 Year old Zumba birthday party there for one of his classmates and had a wonderful time. The staff was on point with all the accommodations, no one was left without food or drink, and the bouncies and games they set up had the children occupied and happy. Just as the bouncies and games portion was coming to an end and I thought the kids were tired and ready for food and cake the Zumba portion of the party came on and I have to say I was impressed by the level of energy the instructor had and how she taught them the dance moves in such a short time.
