I strolled in here this week just because I liked the name. It turns out this place is absolutely great! The people that work there are so quirky and sweet. It seems like they really enjoy working there! The vibe of the place from the parking lot to the bathroom is so edgy and unique. They have restaurant booths, tables, bar stools, couches, benches, and all kinds of areas to grab coffee and lounge. The decor is all over the place but I love it. One ceiling is a Galaxy with drapes hanging from it while the other section is the day sky. The walls are decided with books and they even have board games and cards for the customers to use. There were also a couple guitars in a corner. Now let's talk about the good stuff... THE COFFEE! OMG THIS STUFF WAS LEGIT! I ordered a latte with toasted marshmallow flavor and it tasted just like a melted marshmallow! They put a cute little design on top and the drink had the most perfect amount of syrup in it, not too sweet and not too bitter. My mom and I hung out in here for a couple hours waiting for my brother to get out of class. It was a really cool spot and I'm very happy we stumbled in here! read more

Eclectic and fun, with lots of cool season editions to the menu. It can get pretty noisy because people just come in with guitars and play away, not because of a scheduled live music performance or anything. The drinks are fun, but can be really pricey. They're open the latest of all tulsa coffee shops, so there's a great deal of study appeal. Weekend nights may be really crowded and noisy as the night goes on, though. I come every other week. I highly recommend their turtle cheesecake if you really want a treat :) read more

Fantastic vibe, location, noise level, and decoration. Both times that I've been, staff was rude. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, and came both times moreso for a chill vibe to read. The first visit, I ordered a laava cake that was overall disappointing and overpriced for the quality. It had been microwaved entirely too long & burnt my mouth, so I couldn't taste much of the rest of it. The bits that I could taste whole heartedly reminded me of cardboard. Yes, I should've checked the temperature & may have some bias to the rest of the cake because of the burn. It also just simply didn't taste good. The best tea selection I've found yet in Tulsa. Now, there are other tea houses here, but I can't say anything about their selections because they're never open when I want to go for tea. Some people seem to think you can only drink tea between the hours of noon and four, and they aren't open at other times. I drink tea all day long. I want it when I want it, not when a shop tells me I should have it. Also, this place has fairly decent baked goods. But the best thing they have is a very casual space where you can hang out with friends and just enjoy yourself. That's what I usually do here. And will for a long time. read more

The atmosphere is totally coz, comfortable and inspiring to get stuff done on a computer, read, a book, knit, etc. There are nooks galore of couches, chairs and booths. Looseleaf tea and teabags are an option with lots of flavors; my favorite is the peppermint. The coffee I've had here is more on the mild side but gets the caffeine job done. Couch surfing to the melody of the open mic pianist on a Tuesday night. It's no Sochi winter Olympic final in men's moguls, but it's easily the best thing to do on a work night. I happened onto this spot after a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend... of a colleague mentioned it through the grapevine. Ok, that's actually false. My girlfriend was grabbing lunch at Laffa and the bartender mentioned it to her. She came traipsing back home giddy with plans for a Tuesday night - and I took her up on the plan. Definitely happy with our decision! Now back to the aforementioned, Winter Olympics trumping, open mic bit. They have a signature Cafe Mocha that hit the spot. It was served in one of those embellished coffee cups that you would find in a Pixar Movie - where the cute cuddly hero falls in and almost drowns. I kinda wished I could have jumped into that Mocha. It was piled with whipped cream and this chocolate drizzle.... Mmmmmmm Drizzle. The place is very, exposed industrial concrete meets ethnic hipster grunge [no such thing exists- but that string of adjectives appealed to me].... in short, it's a standard comfy coffee house for artists. Which kinda explains the colorful troupe of characters that showcased the night. I definitely intend to return during the day to just sit back and grab lunch. It's just far enough away from all the yuppie downtown corporate stooges; but also close enough for this corporate stooge to return back to work without having to stray too far from downtown. Personally - I like the atmosphere and the workers. Very sociable and inviting atmosphere and not at all packed. I guess a few more trips will be needed to get a full verdict; but for now I really dug the place as a tuesday night hangout. read more

The staff was friendly, the place was decently busy, and my wrap was fine, but nothing too special for the price. $18 for a bottle of water, a sandwich, a wrap, and an iced coffee....i'm not expecting them to give stuff away but my husband's sandwich was mostly bread. And he said the iced coffee tasted bad before he added sweetener (he doesn't usually add sweetener to ANY coffee). At least the drinks were cheap! Going by the reviews here, I made a plan to visit while I was in town. I was glad I did - the large iced latte was indeed very large (and came with a fancy straw topper). I got there rather early in the evening (5pm) and found myself the oldest person in the room rather quickly. There was a group of "kids" on the other side of the room, playing acoustic guitars and showing each other their licks. The atmosphere was very laid back, and I can appreciate that. I have been failed by cold brew many times... but not here. Vanilla cold brew with cream was so good! It didn't have the bitter/sour taste that they sometimes do. I like the environment a lot - there is so much to look at and read from the walls. They also have a beautiful piano for open mic nights! It created an interesting feel with some couches, some booths, and some tables. A very eclectic homey feel. It does share an entrance with a dispensary, so be prepared for that first whiff walking in! It is a very clean place and they are enforcing social distancing and smaller groups. This is my favorite coffee house, but if you're wanting to come here to do homework don't hold your breath. Their wifi is horrible and never connects to laptops and when you ask the workers for help or alternative options, they don't have an answer for you. Quite honestly my favorite coffee shop in Tulsa, however, I come quite frequently to buy my grounds to make coffee at home and always ask to get it ground due to not having an espresso maker/its easier to have it ground and when I came yesterday one of the regular ladies who knows me just gave me beans, I know this is super stuck up of me and it most definitely could have been an accidental mistake but also funny as she didn't ask the question of whether or not I wanted it ground in the first place. I always ask for it ground and not checking and getting home to make my coffee in the morning was not fun, possibly more my bad but also wish that these things worked better with the price i'm paying and the quality I should expect. Also come to study every now and then, have complained about not being able to join into the wi-fi network practically every time I go, and was approached by the owner who acted like he could not even try to find one reason why the wi-fi could be acting up and said it must be due to my clogged computer/ uncleaned cache. I was just a little disconcerted by that since my mom is a computer developer and I try to keep my computer hygiene up as much as possible by getting it cleaned, doing the things that keep it running smoothly and felt honestly it was just an excuse for my bad experience. With that being said. I've been coming here for years and have no intention to stop as well. Just posting this to hopefully give some constructive criticism and perspective. read more

A spacious and perfect place to study! Across the street from Guthrie Green. The baristas were super sweet. Their coffee is good. Strong, not bitter. I did think it was a bit overpriced. Over $5 for a 12 oz. specialty drink. I thoroughly enjoyed their Game of Thrones menu references however. I ordered The Reach (even though I'm definitely a Northern gal) which was a white chocolate mocha with lavender syrup over whipped cream. Every time I'm in Tulsa, I made it a point to stop in at Gypsy Coffee. It is one of my favorite if not, my favorite coffee shop in the country! The general manager made a really good impression on me the first time I visited the shop, she was really kind and friendly and I had really appreciated that. The bathrooms are always clean and I love how there is a front and back entrance and exit. It makes it easier if you park in the back to enter through the back without having to walk all around the building. The inside is really nice and roomy, I've never been there while there was a huge crowd but I've been there while the place had a acoustic guitar singer playing a set and it was very mellow and not overbearing. The coffee itself is pretty good but I think it is on the pricer side of things but I mostly recommend this place for the atmosphere. read more

The biggest difference between this hipster-artsy-emo-student coffee shop called Gypsy in Tulsa and anything you'd find in my town of Venice Beach, is that the toothless hillbilly tweakers stay outside in California! At Gypsy they are part of the entertainment... The coffee is decent but perhaps overpriced by a small but noticeable 10%. Snacks in the case are also good with some delicious looking cakes. There is ample comfy seating and tables if you bring your laptop. I took off a star because of what I'm about to tell you about Tuesday open mic night, and also left it a 2 instead of 1 giving the benefit of doubt that it is better the rest of the week. Kids, EARMUFFS! Among the regular so-called performers is a guy who writes poetry about subjects like rape and murder which are recited in absolutely graphic detail. Since I'm not a fan of crystal meth or hometown Megan's Law heroes, I am probably going to find another place for coffee on Tuesday nights. read more

I find it very strange that someone would label Gypsy as "scary". It has a very eclectic mix of customers it is true, from Law Students to the Goth/Punk Crowd, but it isn't a front business. There is a salon upstairs, and the "back room" is just another place to sit that happens to have a desktop computer. Decent coffee shop, really the only coffee shop in the Brady Arts District downtown. The coffee is all right, but they have a great selection of teas. The crowd's really eclectic; it'll be different every time you're there. Back when I used to go a lot it was sort of an odd mix of goths and gays, but the crowd seems to have changed some since then. It's also nice that it's open late. And they finally got rid of the $5 minimum to use plastic (it was against Visa/Mastercard's merchant agreement anyway). Stopped here to grab a cup of coffee and the barista was extremely rude. She was very discourteous when taking my order. After waiting for awhile and seeing other people get their coffee before me, I asked about it and she told me that it was "obviously coming soon." I waited for awhile and then saw that she was picking up the milk. I politely asked again and she told me that she didn't remember me ordering. I told her what my order was and she gave me the wrong size. It was not worth arguing with her to get an upgraded size. There is trendy and cool and then there is this place, which is just sort of trendy...not cool at all, especially if you were unfortunate enough to visit the men's restroom. The whole building just had a very unclean vibe about it, and I was questioning if I should eat anything that wasn't prepackaged. I like the color scheme and ambiance of the place to a degree, but being vintage does not give you an excuse to not clean ;p I ordered an iced coffee and turkey croissant sandwich that came with ruffles potato chips and a funky tasting pickle. The sandwich was...a sandwich, not great but not bad either. Needed some mayo. The iced coffee was dribble though! For a coffee shop, i was expecting something exceptional, but it tasted like it had been on the burner for days. I had to add a lot of creamer and artificial sweetener to make it drinkable. The price was pretty steep for the type of food you get as well. We won't be going back here anytime soon. To leave things on a positive note, they DO have FREE parking! Woo-hoo! that's a rarity at a restaurant in downtown Tulsa, so kudos to them for providing that. read more

I met some many wonderful people here...great friends, lovers, and others whom I consider family. We used to come here when I was in college and wanted to get away from the suburbs. This location is in the heart of downtown...and the area is usually asleep. Downtown Tulsa is one of those places that goes to sleep at night. In this particular location the area is rich in history and architecture..the building date back the 1920s...maybe earlier. This building is all brick with cool artsy windows. The interior is rich with color on the walls, and different couches. It attract an artsy crowd and they have weekly poetry readings. Any artistic mind in Tulsa comes out here to bath in the presence of their brothers and sisters. I am not too excited bout the coffee honestly, but I love the staff, really cool peeps. I come for the friends and comfy atmosphere. Totally recommend for a huge change of pace in Tulsa. read more
