There is trendy and cool and then there is this place, which is just sort of trendy...not cool at all, especially if you were unfortunate enough to visit the men's restroom. The whole building just had a very unclean vibe about it, and I was questioning if I should eat anything that wasn't prepackaged. I like the color scheme and ambiance of the place to a degree, but being vintage does not give you an excuse to not clean ;p I ordered an iced coffee and turkey croissant sandwich that came with ruffles potato chips and a funky tasting pickle. The sandwich was...a sandwich, not great but not bad either. Needed some mayo. The iced coffee was dribble though! For a coffee shop, i was expecting something exceptional, but it tasted like it had been on the burner for days. I had to add a lot of creamer and artificial sweetener to make it drinkable. The price was pretty steep for the type of food you get as well. We won't be going back here anytime soon. To leave things on a positive note, they DO have FREE parking! Woo-hoo! that's a rarity at a restaurant in downtown Tulsa, so kudos to them for providing that. read more

I met some many wonderful people here...great friends, lovers, and others whom I consider family. We used to come here when I was in college and wanted to get away from the suburbs. This location is in the heart of downtown...and the area is usually asleep. Downtown Tulsa is one of those places that goes to sleep at night. In this particular location the area is rich in history and architecture..the building date back the 1920s...maybe earlier. This building is all brick with cool artsy windows. The interior is rich with color on the walls, and different couches. It attract an artsy crowd and they have weekly poetry readings. Any artistic mind in Tulsa comes out here to bath in the presence of their brothers and sisters. I am not too excited bout the coffee honestly, but I love the staff, really cool peeps. I come for the friends and comfy atmosphere. Totally recommend for a huge change of pace in Tulsa. read more

Okay, I am rating the Gypsy to knock it down a peg, because it is not that great. The coffee is awful, everything is overpriced, and its patrons are generally of two categories: high school mallcore kids and extremely creepy old men. The Gypsy will also force you to leave if you do not buy something, but also complicate the matter by keeping you from purchasing something w/a credit or debit card unless you reach the $5.00 minimum. With the 5 or so other coffee shops in Tulsa, you should definitely avoid this one. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is that it has provided me with some hilarious memories of scenester kids, and that it is open until 2AM on weekends. read more

Stopped here to grab a cup of coffee and the barista was extremely rude. She was very discourteous when taking my order. After waiting for awhile and seeing other people get their coffee before me, I asked about it and she told me that it was "obviously coming soon." I waited for awhile and then saw that she was picking up the milk. I politely asked again and she told me that she didn't remember me ordering. I told her what my order was and she gave me the wrong size. It was not worth arguing with her to get an upgraded size. Super cool and hip atmosphere! One of the best hangouts in downtown Tulsa. There is live music, and the coffee is decent. This is where my first date with my husband was so I may be a little partial! We snuggled up on the couch with coffee and chatted and the rest is history. read more

We stopped by on a hot day in the middle of July and as two hot coffee lovers, we were pretty disappointed to find out they had no air conditioning. Nevertheless, we persisted and ordered our regular latte with almond milk and mocha with almond milk. For pastries, we ordered a nutella croissant and chocolate cherry scone. The baristas were nice and our order was relatively inexpensive, as far as coffee bars go. We got our coffee, which was hot, and we knew what we were getting ourselves into. However, it was extremely bitter and unpleasant. Both of our drinks were borderline black coffee, despite the almond milk. I'd definitely say the coffee was a miss for us. The pastries were very good and the ambiance was beautiful, but not worth it as the coffee itself was very disappointing. read more

A review for people with little money: I'm in Tulsa for 5 weeks, and of course hitting up as many coffee places as I have time for. The problem I have with this coffeehouse, which is eclectic and has some great pillow seating, is that it's far more expensive than the other coffee shops I've been to in my area. This makes sense, since they're downtown...but I know with the little money in my bank account it won't be my go-to coffee place. That being said - for a one time visit I recommend stopping in, grabbing a cookie (it was delicious), and relaxing on the cushions. read more

I love this place! I have been here numerous times to be entertained on Poetry Night! Yeah, especially when I went through some very serious traumatic times from 2008-2011. This was the potent hot chocolate to warm my entire being. My favorite thing to order over there are their croissants that I love to smother with butter. Although I am a poet myself, I came to listen and be entertained while licking my emotional wounds. The staff members at this place are wonderful. I felt comfortable and right at home. Open mic poetry night is very entertaining. Some of the poets are very witty, too! I would rate this place five stars if it hadn't been for my last experience here. The baristas did not seem to care at all, and they were out of lavender and honey. Which I understand people run out of things, but the baristas couldn't offer me anything similar to what I originally ordered. Had to go into this place a couple times to use their internet and loan someone musical equipment. It's pretty rough. Super-smelly-guy-with-no-shoes-playing-WOW kinda rough. And that's not just comparing the business to that kinda person; he was actually there. It has all the symptoms of a bad time; vampire novel obsessed rednecks, pre-hipsters, old lady in the bright teal mumu, and dudes with pony-tails in rat-pack hats that probably have a sizable anime porn collection. The staff was extremely nice and the place is clean, but the atmosphere of a place like this is the make-or-break. Would not go back for love or money. The Americano is great at the Gypsy. The atmosphere eclectic and laid back. My teenagers enjoy it, as do my "old" friends and myself (early 40's). But the best time to visit? When I used to live in Tulsa, The gypsy was the one place me and my friends would get together. We were the goth crowd but also fun. I still visit whenever i go up there to visit. The coffee has gottin better. Theyve got new workers which is cool. Cause when I went the workers were crabby. And yes if you dont buy something and just sit there or try to use the computer they will get onto you. I had it happen once whe i was on the computer. They literally walked over and turned off the computer while i was using it. but theyre gone! Thank god. lol. its a great place to sit and talk. Or to listen to local artists that come in. Very homie. I love going there because i have so many great memories there. Wed meet there and hang out, then walk up to the "center of the universe" and hang there then go back. I love the place. Went in today. The girl who took our order was very rude. And then when I asked about my coffee 10+ minutes later she told me that it was "obviously not" ready yet. After a few more minutes, when the were no longer making coffee, I asked again. She told me she didn't remember me ordering coffee. Discourteously she asked what I ordered and made my coffee after waiting ~ 15-20 minutes or so. She made it in the small when I ordered the large but at that point it wasn't worth the effort to get it fixed. I was met with nothing but opposition this entire interaction. When my husband and I first met we went here on our second date and I fell in love with this coffee shop. Their coffee was mediocre but the atmosphere made it wonderful. Hard to describe unless you go there yourself. There is an area of benches with pillows which is very nice and cozy. It is very dim there and when I went there was maybe one or two people there. They stay open fairly late and that is when all the loonies started coming in the coffee shop. (which btw is the only reason we left) we could have stayed the night there it was so cozy. read more

Loved this little dimly-lit cove of a study place. Really it is perfect for studying - kind of that gritty, gypsy, cold place where you really do need the lamps that are on the booth tables and maybe a light that you bring on your own. It is the type of place you'd expect to find hookah, but I don't think they have that. The space is pretty big as well, and there's a room with pillows. Okay, it wasn't really cold, but it had a cold kind of feel, like you'd want to bring your cozy things and the people there would be mighty fine with that. Kind of a laid-back, anything goes place. I was uber hungry, and they gave me a generous portion of their "power bar," which was something I might make at home - a raw mixture of oats, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. So delicious. I wish every cafe would have food that I would make at home. I also had a moroccan mint tea latte and my friend at a pizza flatbread thing. It was all pretty high-quality, and the person working there was really authentically nice. It is weird - like all the people in Tulsa are mindful and conscious and wonderful. Visited Gypsy Coffee House 2 or 3 times now while I've been in Tulsa working. I usually catch it on the way out of town as I make my drive back to OKC. Gypsy is in a very old building downtown. If you come in the back way, I'll be honest...it looks a bit shady. The giant hole in the side of the foundation makes me think twice, but the hole seems to have no bearing on the quality of their products. Every time I've visited I've had the same thing. Cold Brew is one of those things I'm new to & I really like...especially when its hot out. So far I haven't been disappointed. Nice, strong, ice-cold coffee! The staff are a bit unusual. First time I went they were friendly & helpful. The last time I was there the girl wasn't exactly friendly & was more concerned about doing something on her phone that talking with me. That aside, all was good. The inside is basically like an old house with retro furniture and feels like an old grandma's basement. Probably a cool place to hang out if I had the time. read more

Had a fantastic first experience here. Customer service was an A+ and my drink was made perfectly. Ordered the special of the day which was an Irish cream, white chocolate latte. Delicious. Also ordered a peach blueberry scone that was warmed up for me. Moist, sweet, and also delicious. The atmosphere was nice.
