WOW!!! What a gem in Tacoma! I've been desperately looking for good Middle Eastern food for so long in the South Puget Sound and it has been to no avail. Today I was doing my shopping in Tacoma and stopped by Grocery Outlet on 6th Ave and then I noticed this new Middle Eastern place opened up across the street. I was hungry and very eager to give the new place a try. Well, I will say this was a very pleasant surprised and I got a whole lot more than I bargained for. From the outside, it looks like a typical Greek fast food place, but do not be fooled. They have skilled chefs from Jordan who work here and offer a great variety of traditional Middle Eastern dishes, including Mandi and Mansouf (which they serve on the weekends). Even in Seattle, you will be hard pressed to find these unique and traditional Middle Eastern dishes. I ended up ordering their kofta plate with a side of falafel. OH MY!!! The hummus was so amazing!! This was the best hummus I have had in so many years and I have to say this hummus is probably the best I had living in Washington state. It is freshly made and the proportions of garbanzo and tahini and the spices are made in perfection! I'm very particular about my hummus and I just cannot eat hummus that is not top quality. Then there was the falafel. This falafel was made using a traditional Jordanian recipe. The falafel was phenomenal!! In fact, I cannot recall when I had any better falafel. It was very juicey and rich in pleasant spices on the inside, but the outside was nice and crispy with a bit of crunchiness. This is what I look for in falafel and these guys made it absolutely perfect. I could literally just go to this place for their falafel, but they have so much more. They also have home made tahini sauce that is to die for. My final review would be on the Kofta kabob. I love kofta so much and it is one of the dishes I make myself at home and for friends. Many people tell me that my kofta is some of the best, so I do know good kofta when I taste it. I have to say that this kofta is also some of the best I have ever had. The spice mixture is wonderful, but not overwhelming with the spices like so many other Middle Eastern restaurants make it. These guys put a lot of effort into getting the right combination of spices and preparing it carefully. I knew just by smelling the kofta that it would be good and I was very happy! I'm so happy I finally have a Middle Eastern restaurant that I can go to that can satisfy a very picky Middle Eastern palate as myself. This place is brand new and I really hope people in Tacoma can appreciate the quality of a place like this. I hope they can stay in business, because there is no where else in the Puget Sound that has this quality of Middle Eastern cuisine. I would say this place easily beats almost any Middle Eastern place I have tried in Seattle as well. read more

I recently tried the lamb shawarma for takeout and was impressed by the generous portion size and thoughtful packaging. The lamb was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the rice. The hummus was outstanding and paired wonderfully with the pita bread. It also came with a small, decent salad. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the dish, found it worth the price, and will definitely return. The food was ready within 5-10 minutes of ordering. On my second visit, I sampled the chicken and beef kabobs, falafel salad, lamb shawarma sandwich, and pistachio baklava. The kabobs were delicious, with the chicken being more flavorful than the beef. The falafel was excellent, and the sauce was a great addition to the salad. The baklava was well-made. Overall, I had a splendid experience. The ambience inside might need some improvement. read more

Ok Tacomans, or Tacomites (what are we called??) I have to tell you about this place that i just tried out that had the best gyro I've EVER had. It's called Gyro Bites, and it's on 6th ave. I've been there twice already this week because it's so good. I've gotten the Super Gyro both times. It has extra meat, and let me tell you, the meat is moist and super flavorful, the pita is soft and fresh, the lettuce adds a nice crunch, and the tzatziki sauce is on point. Then, you guys, THEN they sprinkle this spice on top that I'm pretty sure is Sumac aka heaven spice, and it brings the Gyro to a whole new level. Like, I want to eat this every day kind of level. Check the place out. While I haven't tried anything else (yet!) I have a feeling it won't disappoint. read more

The man asked me for an honest review.. and I don't really leave them and I love these people so I'll do it. My girlfriend and I always order take out late-night because we play video games or whatever but this place is always open and always has amazing food made to order. Customer service is excellent and I always make sure to tip what I can (still trying to get through the growing pains of moving out of the parents house) the prices are affordable, especially for the quality and amount. The atmosphere is quiet, other clientele super respectful and nice as always. Sometimes there's a couple bums outside but they don't hurt anyone. Stopped in here today to try their classic lamb and beef gyro. Hands down the best gyro in town and probably the best I've ever had. They have a great menu with a wide variety of dishes and gyros, including vegetarian options. Service is warm and friendly. If you like Mediterranean or Arabic food and live in the area you HAVE to check this place out, you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be back again in the near future. read more

WE enjoy the food at Gyro Bites. I get them Chicken Shawarma and my boyfriend gets the Beef Gyro plate. It is served with a salad, really yummy rice, and smooth tasty hummus. Service is great and we have never tried a dish we didn't like. Of course, we can not leave without the pistachio baklava. If you're in the area, it's worth considering giving it a try. read more

Gyro Bites is my favorite local restaurant and I love the food here in Gyro Bites. They have different Mediterranean halal food. I always experience great customer service and delicious meals here. Absolutely disappointing. Ordered the tiramisu expecting a soft, creamy dessert, but instead, I was served a rock-hard frozen square. It was impossible to eat without waiting for it to thaw, completely ruining the experience. If I wanted frozen cake, I'd have gone to a grocery store. Do better. read more

Tried for the first time and had the Gyro classic combo and wow! The Gyro sandwich was so flavorful! My mother had the Gyro salad and the was even better! Probably one of the best Gyro meats with beef/lamb we ever had the favor was on point! Not to mention they are open til 3am a plus! read more
